Question: could you explain more about what you saying at 10:13 Asaph was equally wicked and immoral? That this could be found in book of Hebrew. I was genuinely shocked because I thought as David’s music leader and from the different psalms he wrote, he had a strong heart for God.
@jpal1080 I think Dr Korman was referring to Esav not Asaph. He clarifies it by adding that he was the brother of Jacob. I found it easy to make that mistake also because of the similar pronunciation of each name.
I had the exact same question. I believe that Dr. Korman misspoke by saying the name of Asaph, but he can correct my presumption. There's nothing in the Bible that I could find that would indicate that Asaph was sexually immoral, etc., and he's not mentioned at all in the NT. However, since the book of Hebrews was mentioned by Dr. Korman, my wife found a passage about Esau that seems to fit with what was said at the time stamp you mentioned: Hebrews 12:16-17 LSB [16] that also there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. [17] For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.
@ericfuller3337 The problem is the close sound of the 2 names not that the name of the person was used incorrectly. I dont think scripture verses you selected apply here.
Rabbi, what do you think about the teaching of Christian philosopher Emmanuel Swedenborg? I have found some of his teaching to be a comfort to me. But I have doubts about other things he wrote about heaven. I would like to know whether or not Swedenborg's writings about Christianity are apostasy or inspired by GOD. I dont want to study Swedenborg if it is wrong.
