Hi, I enjoyed this video a lot. But, I am from Cebu City, and have lived in Mindanao. I’d like to clarify your point saying that we don’t really speak Tagalog. We understand and speak Tagalog pretty well, but not as native as fellow Filipinos in Luzon. Moreover, Filipino subjects are I think evident in the curriculum in all parts of the Philippines and I haven’t heard of people from Luzon being exempted from that, even after finishing my college degree. Just to shed some light though. Thank you!
Yeah, I am from Bacolod and lived half my life in Cebu. We understand and speak tagalog but I personally choose not to speak tagalog most of the time because of my really heavy accent which some people from Luzon make fun of. But I do have alot of friends from Manila who enjoys hearing me speak tagalog with bisaya accent.. :) So yeah.. we can write, understand and speak Tagalog :)
We use tagalog as a way of communication kasi not everyone can speak maguindanaon and cebuano kaya tagalog tlga ginagamit dito.
Correction, if you cannot understand someone's dialect as you say it isn't a dialect. It's a language per definition. Dialect on the other hand per definition is very similar to a specific language with words and grammar structure but there's a local blend to it like local terms, colloquial terms, or phrases added to the language.
That was a casual interview. Mostly about your interest and education. It was good and I like the confidence despite being a beginner. Just a tip. Highlights your working attitude and strength during interviews and how it relates to the position you are applying for. Questions pertaining to how long you plan to stay with the employer and the position they're looking is really about them preferring people who intend to stay so they don't have to keep hiring when people leave after gaining experience.
Hi I definitely agree with your points here. I am starting to think that this man is a fresh graduate and wanting to start his journey as a Virtual Assistant because of the way he answers the questions and also the way he expresses his ideas. Nonetheless, as a person who had experienced being interviewed by a CEO level interviewer from Ph and abroad, I can say that he did pretty well as a beginner. He just need to expound his knowledge and know how to relate his answers to the position he is targeting for.
Can I just say... you did well in that interview for a tech guy! You were very candid, shy but had presence of mind. Your train of thought was within the direction your interviewer was going for. I hope you get hired!
honestly the raw footage of me answering was sloppy 🤣. i kind of went hard on the editing to make my answers made sense. but thank you anyways. appreciate it 😍
I'm an aspiring VA as well, I've taken a weekly class focused in Social Media Management and currently self-studying right now with the tips & lessons I've learned by applying them to my sister's small business. I've created an upwork account as well and I'm hoping that I get to receive an invitation for interview soon because I know this will be a whole different experience for me because I'm a career-shifter. I'm really thankful I get to watch how an interview for VAs go cause I really have no idea esp clients are mostly US based. This is helpful! Thank you!
11 months have passed, so have you already acquired a client? Because I have been trying Upwork for almost a year, but I have never been hired, even though I have attended numerous dull courses about virtual assistance.
bisaya here as well. i actually wasn't offended with his statement about us not being able to speak tagalog. he probably was just very nervous with his interview and was not able to explain it well. but what he said about us people from mindanao and visayas being better english speakers is so cute and sweet. because, let's face it, a lot of people from luzon look down on us calling us taga bundok/probinsya. they even ask if we have malls here lol. but this video is about his VA interview experience so we should've focused on that nalang sana. although i understand naman why some would get offended, it's because of those stereotypes naman din kasi, so i think both sides are valid naman hahaha 😁 but still, I'm very thankful to you Janscena for sharing us a glimpse of what's it like to be interviewed for a VA position. for everybody's information, especially sa mga taga Luzon, we all do have Filipino subjects - its the national language og PH. which means we do understand everything you are saying, its just that our diction is not that good, because we are not naturally born, speaking Tagalog. That's really intense but if you know to yourself that you are confident enough to speak with that kind of particular interview and answering those questions that's very impressive. I wish I could be like you but any way good job with this one. I'm planing to apply as well that's why I'm thankful to watch this kind of video from you. 😊
hey @Janscena Im just watching ur video but i just want to say and to clarify... don't judge a book by its cover! I travel in luzon, visayas & mindanao. But mostly people in visayas and mindanao can really easy to UNDERSTAND the TAGALOG we can also SPEAK WELL TAGALOG! we can really understand bisaya or cebuano, ilonggo, ENGLISH and specially TAGALOG PO! but diff accent hehee..
That's true we use our own dialect. But most, if not all, from Visayas and Mindanao, knows how to speak Tagalog. It's just that we're comfortable speaking our own dialects. But it's not just the people "down there," there are also in Luzon who have their own dialects right? I think it's fair enough if most of us can't understand each other's dialect (cus obviously that's why it's called dialect). And YES, all of us Filipinos have Filipino subject, that's a pre-requisite. BUT THANK YOU for complimenting us that we're good at speaking English. You guys too! And You did great for your honest interview. 😁
I'm a Filipino living in Mindanao and I speak 3 dialects (bisaya, tagalog, ilonggo) and I'd like to clarify that we do understand Tagalog (obviously since it's our national language and it's taught in all schools here in PH) and CAN SPEAK Tagalog though not as 'naturally' if you would say as compared to those pinoys whose native tongue is Tagalog since we rarely use Tagalog here. It was a little offending hearing that from you, just hoping that you change that point of view since that was clearly a stereotypical view esp coming from someone who doesn't know much on the other dialects here in PH but nonetheless this was a good video and I learned a lot from your interview so thank you for that.
It's normal from Luzon peeps didn't know much about Visayas or Mindanao.. I am from Mindanao and living in Laguna, they thought we are just a fisherman or a farmer.. And because of media showing just mountains or rivers whatsoever
Sorry to tell you bro but Mindanaoans can understand and speak Filipino clearly. That's why when it comes to being a multilingual, we have the upper hand because we are speaking Bisaya (Cebuano), Tagalog, English, and any other applicable. Anyways God bless! ❤️
I am inspired and i love your confidence even though I can see you are shy, you handled the interview so well i wish i can be you. Kudos kuya and congrats!
I'd like to point out that not everyone who lives in the Visayas and Mindanao doesn't know how to speak Tagalog. And as someone who lives in Mindanao and speak the Bisaya language, I can not only understand Tagalog but I can also speak it just as well as you do. And I also wanna make it clear to everyone here that Filipino is the national language and not Tagalog. Thanks!
With regards to the national language, I think most Filipinos, in their local areas or settings, do speak their native dialect more primarily than our national language or perhaps a mix of it. But of course, if they got engaged in tagalog whether by speaking or writing, for sure most would be fluent.
Watching this video really helps me to prepare beforehand💖 This gives me an overview of what they may ask pag nainterview na ko(hahaha) I am planning to start a journey as a VA and myghad nanunuod palang ako pero yung kaba ko(hahahaha) parang ako yung tinatanong😩😂 Thank you so much for documenting this kind of process. I'm from Mindanao , I do speak Tagalog, Bisaya, English. My everyday work need to use Tagalog because of my bosses and clients. Mostly people I know speak Tagalog too 😌 But overall you did great in your interview. Congratulations.
Hi im from luzon and from Kalinga province i speak very well tagalog and ilocano and kalinga dialect and English language generaly tagalog is our National language so we must know it ..just to shed light on what you said that Luzon has no ethnic dialects , what about pampanga, Isabela, cagayan, benguet and many more . Thats a well done interview you are so polite and engaging and i like your attentiveness on the points of the interviewer .
I understand you are very nervous about your interview but I beg to disagree, that people in Visayas and Mindanao can understand Tagalog but can't speak it? I'm from Davao and my lolo is from Bulacan. Our family can speak and write Tagalog very well. Generally, Mindanaoans and people of Visayas can understand, speak and write Tagalog very well. Remember in our school Filipino subject is one of our major subjects. Hope you can also do some research in your own country as well. :) But you did great in your interview.
actually, I am 50 50 on this. there are some people from visayas and mindanao who can't speak or understand Tagalog. na experience ko ito maraming beses na. My work before was always on travel and nag stay ako ng 6mos to 1 yr. mali lang is na generalized niya.
Actually guys.. You know, It's an interview for job application, and in that moment, sometimes we can't avoid or accidentlly say something that is not supposed to say especially for being first timer applicants..(awkward moments na di maiwasan kung minsan po☺️) Or even if we are so professional of taking interviews , we still get too much nervous about those moments.. 😊 Right? and IT'S NATURAL. It's just alright.... that moment that he was asked about d language & dialects(which is nahighlight naman niya na your place like visayas & mindanao is likely more fluent in english) which is, it does not really depend on place, I do not understand why the interviewee asked about that between filipino language, dialects and such at all. Well in a middle of a little intensed moment, "he just shared a little trivia from our culture for a foreign one, of what he knew... you can just give👌a little understanding about that.. for we are all experiencing those moments... It's cool na may time para magkwento-kwento in d middle of an interview for an applicant..☺️☺️ Especially if one wants to know about her/his place/environment or countrymen.. *As long as it won't affect the job at all.. 🍂💕💕☺️ Love from anywhere here in the world 💕💚
Galing galing very articulate. If the employer doesn't hire you I don't know what else is he looking for you're definitely the one of the most fit employee.
You never fail to amaze us with your extraordinary success and achievement. Your success will inspire others to do their best. Well done, and best wishes for your future. Congratulation kuya, Proud daddy is here supporting you all the way, God bless you anak
I congratulate you for being calm and collected while doing the interview but I beg to disagree on some points. To put it simply, please don't generalized all people that live in Visayas and Mindanao region as people that can't understand/speak tagalog because sometimes they are much fluent than others. Just be careful and don't generalized. Ty
Well spoken, Good job! I hope i can speak like that in my interview in the future. Keep it up! Your content is very informative.♥️ Thank you for this content, because of that I really admire you and inspire you as well. I'm also planning to apply call center however, the interview is one of my weaknesses. I hope i can pass the interview if ever. Huhu
We, Bisaya people, can understand and speak tagalog. Although not the majority of us can speak tagalog fluently, but we're glad for being multilingual.🤗
Hello, I am from Visayas, from Bohol specifically. And I can understand, talk and converse in Tagalog/Filipino Language both written and oral po. Hehe. Anyway, congratulations. You were so good and confident with your interview! 🥳
Yeah I'm from Bohol also... Magagaling nmn Lahat.. yon nga lng medjo barok pakinggan Yong iba specially when it's their first time speaking or talking to someone from Luzon.. hehehe
You seem very confident and young, i like how your still managing it while being nervous. I am interested in knowing your age and whatever grade your studying in. It can make things easier for me :)
Galing! Sana all fluent mag English😃 Ayoko talaga ng interview kahit in person. 🤣🤣🤣
I'm from central visayas and we can speak and understand Tagalog really well. We speak in tagalog but mostly english during office hours, and then in our own dialect with a little bit of English when we are at home or when we go out. Most of us here in Visayas can speak and understand Bisaya/Cebuano, English and Tagalog. Some knows Hiligaynon as well (which is a dialect from Western Visayas). Great interview tho 🎉
Wow , I was so amazed. Good for you , that you passed the interview. I just want to comment down here what u have said about people in visayas and mindanao. Im from negros occidental. We speak hiligaynon. We study Filipino as a subject. And we can actually understand and speak tagalog. probably our parents/grandparents might not be so fluent speaking tagalog. But to be honest. Its really difficult actually to study mother tongue language/dialect subject specially kids. Even me, kinda difficult to understand the word. Like its a jargon for me. Funny because we encounter words from our mother tongue that not familiar with. I would rather learn Filipino/English.
You really did great, buddy. I can't do half of what you've done honestly especially that the questions were really out of the box. Good luck! P.S We're neighbors pala I'm from SPC
Thank you everyone for almost 40k views on this video. This interview was uploaded so long ago that I actually forgot about it. Pero para po sa mga clarifications if I got the job, yes po. I did got the job. But it was only for a limited time. My first semester of junior year in college just started the moment I got in so I had to leave. I simply wanted to avoid conflicts in my schedule and also for personal reasons. But right now I just finished my first semester so I might make a follow up video answering all of your concerns. Please stay tuned. Again, thank you so much and have a good day 😊
Visayans and Mindanaoans do speak Tagalog/Filipino but we prefer speaking in English because when we speak Tagalog/Filipino, we have a certain accent (not all). We pronounce Tagalog words the way they are written... like "kasi" is ka-see not ka-seh. "Bakit is ba-kit not ba-keht. If you know what I mean... hahhahaha and other dialects have certain way of strong kinda angry way of speaking like Cebuanos and others have a melodic and soft way of speaking like Ilongos... but there are a lot of Mindanaoans and Visayan who can speak Tagalog/Filipino like those from Luzon...
Oh wow! I am so happy nung sinabi mong taga Dolores ka! HAHAHAH I'm proud of youuuuu! ❤️❤️ Sobrang saya makakita ng kababayan sa YT. Keep it up. More clients to come! 🥳
Alkanse mo. I hope you learn your lesson. Btw youre a good english speaker. Kudos!
Waaaaaaah, I have tried this also! It's very nerve-wracking but it was an amazing experience! Btw, can you give some tips on writing a resume? Mine really didn't require but I plan to apply to some more jobs.
i actually put my resume link on the description box. you can check it if you want. i think siguro just really focus on putting skills that you’re really good at. dun lang din naman talaga focus mga employers eh. lagay mo lahat ng kung ano bang kaya mong ibigay sa kanila ✨
I am from mindanao and the reason why people from mindanao speak English fluently is because Mindanao consists of different dialects and the sounds in their language that are not present in Tagalog language. That's the edge of the Mindanaons.

Correct
This make sense! Di ko talaga nagustuhan yung sinabi nya about visayas and mindanao 😂
actually, I am 50 50 on this. there are some people from visayas and mindanao who can't speak or understand Tagalog. na experience ko ito maraming beses na.
It's cool na may time para magkwento-kwento in d middle of an interview for an applicant..☺️☺️
Especially if one wants to know about her/his place/environment or countrymen..
*As long as it won't affect the job at all.. 🍂💕💕☺️
Love from anywhere here in the world
💕💚
true, kitanajud ang gitakna guiz haha. kabalo mo bisaya, tagalog ug english hahaha
You did great 👍 kudos to you & more videos like this please it helps us sm! 💗

I agree maybe that time he is really nervous. What we can do is to help him pray for his job.
You never fail to amaze us with your extraordinary success and achievement. Your success will inspire others to do their best. Well done, and best wishes for your future. Congratulation kuya, Proud daddy is here supporting you all the way, God bless you anak
wowwww, good job!!!! you're sooo good at ittt.
Bravoo! You did a great job on your 1st interview as VA
Ty
Agoy nose bleed ako. Pati ako hndi makahinga hehe. Watching replay bunso. Congratulations and good luck. Fullpack bunso
OMG BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW STARTED I WAS ALSO NERVOUS HAHAHAHA YOU DID WELL! ❤️
Well spoken, Good job!
I hope i can speak like that in my interview in the future. Keep it up! Your content is very informative.♥️
Thank you for this content, because of that I really admire you and inspire you as well. I'm also planning to apply call center however, the interview is one of my weaknesses. I hope i can pass the interview if ever. Huhu
Big clap tlaga! Grabe ang galing mo parang di first time ma interview
We, Bisaya people, can understand and speak tagalog. Although not the majority of us can speak tagalog fluently, but we're glad for being multilingual.🤗
💯
I enjoyed watching you, so good and confident.
thank you 😊
You did amazing! I’m so proud of you! Keep it up! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am looking for a virtual assistant
Hello, I am from Visayas, from Bohol specifically. And I can understand, talk and converse in Tagalog/Filipino Language both written and oral po. Hehe.
Anyway, congratulations. You were so good and confident with your interview! 🥳
Yeah I'm from Bohol also... Magagaling nmn Lahat.. yon nga lng medjo barok pakinggan Yong iba specially when it's their first time speaking or talking to someone from Luzon.. hehehe
Wow. Very spontaneous! Galing.
You seem very confident and young, i like how your still managing it while being nervous. I am interested in knowing your age and whatever grade your studying in. It can make things easier for me :)
Galing! Sana all fluent mag English😃 Ayoko talaga ng interview kahit in person. 🤣🤣🤣
practice lang yan. fake it until you make it 🤣
Congrats. The algorithm has favored you!
You did great! Thank you for sharing your experience, and am glad that I watched this. Also, keep on vlogging.
ay thank you po 😊
Worth it bro. Good job 👌💯
Galing mag-english, wala halos buffer hahaha! Very minimal ang fillers.. good job!
The interviewer is very polite also your communication went well 😊
I am an ex BPO agent with 4 years of experience but i will say that you are better than me in terms of speaking in english fluently hehe. Congrats!
Brooo thank you so much sa lahat nang inapplyan ko interview lang talaga ako hindi makapasa 😭 pero dahil dito may insights na ako maraming salamat!
You did a very good job. Its look like he already wanted to hire you the way he introducing about their company
I am planning to Apply VA too. Enjoy watching your video with the client. I hope I have that confidence in communication skills.
You really did great, buddy. I can't do half of what you've done honestly especially that the questions were really out of the box. Good luck!
P.S We're neighbors pala I'm from SPC
Btw, good job boy !
I enjoyed it ❤
This calmed my nerves🥹
Anong name Ng pinagapplyan mo
You have a great communication skills. 👍👍👍 you did very well for a first time..

Wow you did very well if this is your first interview 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Your website is nice!! Thanks for sharing this interview!!
hehehe you are funny and very smart as well. I enjoyed watching this. Obviously, u got that job?
bravo! awesome job in your interview
A lot of Filipinos from Visayas and Mindanao speak the Filipino language really well. But, great video of you sharing your journey as a freelancer!
Keep your eyes on the camera your client is not on the ceiling.
You did great job interview buddy... Thanks for sharing
Wow, I like your English fluency, sana ganyan din ako kafluent mag English ☺️
Ang natural lang ng way of answering the interview .. makikita na not trying hard talaga and feel ang sincerity ng answers . 🙂
@@janscena thank you for the tips! 😊
I am from mindanao and the reason why people from mindanao speak English fluently is because Mindanao consists of different dialects and the sounds in their language that are not present in Tagalog language. That's the edge of the Mindanaons.
you did well, ang ganda ng convo niyo, sana ganyan din ako pag mainterview 😅
You did great Kuya. Good luck and keep vlogging
