Uconn is ridiculously deep. I'm an Iowa fan, but it's so great to see Paige back on the court.
For me it’s easy to see that Paige is a different kind of basketball player from everyone else. She’s special!

Before anyone comments, improvements come with time. This team is totally different both mentally and physically and emotionally. The freshman playing together the first time, Paige being back. They still have to prove that they’re the number 1 team, nothing comes easily.
They are not the #1 team in WCBB, LSU is and in about a week, that BOTH will change.
@@RustyLou18 my opinion? They’re technically no.1 but LSU has an advantage due to the national championship. They were the favour to win before LSU landed HVL (not my conclusion it’s all over the internet) . I think they’re number 1, atleast in my opinion. But true the ranking may or may not change due to time. I just believe that they’re the favourite to win the natty :)
Well, I've been wanting UConn to get some bangers. And they did. I just wish that there was a little more height. Going to need that with the SC's and Stanfords. But hey, like I said, we got some bangers!

She's playing like she's got 2 college years under her belt.
A team like LSU has about 7 good players who play very well together. Their recent recruits are fitting well. UConn has more players, but they're far from perfect together. The first 6 or 7 fit, but bringing younger players into the mix will take some time, especially the shooting by the freshmen. Ice looked very good. KK is terrific. Ashe and KK on defense are intense and didn't foul much. Quickness, steals, breakaways, all great stuff. On offense, they need more games. Lots of potential.
UConn’s track record of getting multiple players to play well together is a hell of alot longer than LSU. UConn never have chemistry issues because they recruit high efficiency players who don’t need a lot of shots to be successful. The jury is still out on if LSU will be able to gel together but they won’t be playing a high level of competition. UConn will be. LSU won’t be respected until Mulkey stops dodging tough out of conference games to keep from exposing the true level of talent of her best players. At the end of the day if your best player is a player who is literally afraid to go to the WNBA that speaks volumes about the development of your program.
Mark, you're absolutely right. What LSU comes in with this season is going to be great for one, maybe two more seasons including this one. Personally, I favor more of a longevity approach, and I'm more of a traditionalist that way; I like seeing talent built from Freshman year to Senior year (redshirt Senior year if that's the case, which it is for UConn), therefore I believe that UConn's talent pool right now is more promising than LSU's talent gained through the transfer portal (which, I have to say, I hate very much). Personal opinions aside, though, LSU is deserving of it's #1 preseason ranking. I'm curious to see how both teams fare throughout the season (with some bias towards confidence in UConn given their adversity for the last several seasons).

I like the depth of this team but i question if they're big enough to win the NC. The tallest players in their rotation is 6'3 since you can't count on Deberry. Not sure if they is big enough to handle the LSU/So Carolina's of the world. But this team has a lot of weapons both offensively and defensively. Should be a great season

Very deep team this year, but I worry about enough size up front when playing teams like Stanford and South Carolina..
Women’s college basketball reminds of 80’s NBA ball. Now you finally have amazing stars in it. And not just on one team, which was pretty much the NBA before Magic and Bird. That league was dying before those two came along. Didn’t matter how good the players were beforehand, it was dying. They revitalized it. Then came Jordan. The Women’s basketball is going through that now in the professional sport. Good play, but not really exciting. Caitlin is the most exciting player, but it’s a team sport. Jordan was the best player for years before he won his first. They used to ruthlessly hack him every time he went to the basket. It was so bad. But now, we got exciting talent to watch in the women’s game. And it’s not only one talent at a time. There’s tons of ‘em over many teams. NCAAWB is actually better than the WNBA! The crowds, and attendance, and interest all agree. That might change once these talented hoopers go pro. Only time will tell. I know I only watch college sports. The Pros are too boring full of primadonnas anymore.

Oh my goodness! I just watched the first quarter. Whichever team they will be playing once the season starts it will be like a tidal wave hit them! Ice looked good. Facing teams with elite Bigs underneath the basket will be the major concern confronting the Huskies. But Geno will devise a defense capable of limiting damage.

you really dont know much about the game if you think thats all Clarks game is about is 35 footers. She is an assist machine along with her ability to put up the numbers she does. that and the fact she has stayed healthy for her career is another plus. why put another player down. It's an idiotic statement at best. Now if you just say I will take Paiges game over any other guard out there when healthy thats a statement I can get behind. then you wouldn't look like such a moron. Stevie Ray Vaughn said it best. you dont have to put another person down while propping another up.

I’d be way more terrified of Caitlin if my team were going against her than Paige. Paige’s team is scarier, yeah, but as a player Caitlin is not only more skilled but she’s an absolute killer not afraid to singlehandedly destroy you. And she’s completely unguardable, even when defenses sell out on her
And yeah, UConn would probably have a championship if Caitlin played for them. Don’t know if Iowa would’ve gotten as far as they did, as Paige is a very talented player but she’s never not had talent around her. It’s very hard to lead a team without some other All-Americans around you, sure she could do it but it’s hypothetical at this point

I'm a Iowa fan but this is a great team. Lsu thanks it is going to be a great season and Win again but Uconn and Iowa I don't think so.
Edwards looks considerably faster. Watching her run the floor, it seemed that way.

Aubrey's game is very nice.
No doubt Paige is special but I want to see the other players be assertive with and without Paige on the floor.
It was good to see everyone out there but they've got a lot of work to do. Granted it was mix and match and lots of freshman but all those uncontested threes have to be concerning. Early days yet.
What is UConn going to do with Aynna Patterson and Amari Deberry. What are their problems/

And now with the powerhouse recruits this year, and Paige and Ice back on the boards, both Deberry and Patterson may never see a minute of play again.

SCSU got PLENTY of shots off, they just did not go in. It would have been nice to see a little more competition.
It's obvious that the coach of SCSU did not watch the Ohio State game. You have to face guard Fudd for God's sake, but after all, they're only a Division II team.
The easy open shots from three when the ladies are open... take a .25 of second more to aim and score... if not true then pass or dribble!!!! It goes: ...... mind/eyes, feet, body, arms then shoot!!! If out of order then higher per cent to miss.....
Q needs to slow her delivery. Not everybody is Azzi. Given one extra split second will improve her shots.

It is so nice to see no thuggery. Both teams have really nice kids. 100%. No thugs. It's obvious the SCSU coach and Geno will not even consider a bad egg. It is a credit to these kids parents. Both parents at home, being supportive. A formula for success.

DeBerry has been plagued with nagging injuries since she got to UConn. And she's also still recovering from surgery (edit: back surgery). She's still not 100 percent.
Southern was losing by 40 points and the announcers were saying Southern is looking really good and there are well coached!
Kiners, SCSU is a Division II team. They don't have the recruiting power that a lower ranked Division I team has. They don't have the scholarship money that a mid-major Div. I program has. So, to put the announcers' comments into context, SCSU coming in to Gampel Pavilion (an historically tough venue for even Top 25 Div. I programs to play in) and to have a loss of more than 40 points against the #2 ranked Div. I women's team in the country is not only really good for them, it's a massive step for the Owls to prepare and compete well in their Division. I think these games are how successful programs are born. UConn started their Division I lives competing hard for every little success they could get, but they were not a powerhouse until more than a decade after they began playing Division I ball, and that was in the 80s when it's safe to say that the level of competition was nowhere near to what it is today. I'm just aiming to put this into context for you, so you can appreciate what the announcers are saying and what SCSU is doing with this exhibition. :)
UConn's 3 gaurd and 3/4 hybrid with a big line up is going to be a problem. If your bigs can't run they are going to run you out of the building.

SCSU was getting shots, just not hitting them. Huskies won't get away with that once the season starts.
From what I can see Paige is just a shell of the player she used to be, she doesn't have her legs under her yet and is very cautious when she plays. Doesn't appear to be 100%. I don't see them as # 2 right now. But see where everyone is at after 15 or so games in.

I'm in a 'show me state' which is not being negative - more like hoping history doesn't repeat itself. My thoughts on the subject apparently can't have ANY effect on her life since God is taking care of her. And maybe I should blame Him for whatever happens - past and future.

That title gets pretty heavy, just ask South Carolina; they thought they were going to repeat last year, and had a tough go of it in the final four. Colorado let LSU know the road to repeat is a tough one.
