I don't know if you watched a guide, but you said they were put together.... but they are good friends having a good time. They have had a bit of history before Mamamoo. Hwasa and Wheein have been best friends since middle school. Moonbyul and Wheein were going to be debuting at another company as leader (Moonbyul) and Maknae (Wheein) at another company before that fell through. So those three have been around together for while. RBW recognised their talent and put them together with Solar as Mamamoo. The Song 'Where are we now' that they did for the 7 year aniversary does highlight that it wasn't all fun and games.... They had to work hard to get where they are now... and there were lots of tears to be had early on. They have earned all the respect that they have received.
