Hi I’m from the Cayman which is basically next door to Jamaica. Since your building on the south coast next to the sea. One thing to take into consideration for your house design, hurricanes and stoms! we have to face hurricane season every year and normally if a storm comes it always comes in from the south. My advice, build the house on stilts to protect your investment from big seas and storm surge!

I wanted to say buy your own land, but I didn't want to seem like a spoil sport. What is stopping you from getting something of your own.? A quarter acre isn't much, only because it's on the sea shore why it seems so attractive. If he wants to sell, buy it. My gut says, keep the friendship intact and let Peter help as a friend. Wish you both the best. There already some nice homes in the area. Just make sure you know all that you need to know about building in the area, building codes requirements and what’s allowed in the area. Building close to the ocean can be challenging on what materials to use.

It will make for a very quick and relatively easy and relatively cheap option to start things. Also plant a lot of coconut palms for your guests to drink on. :) Coconuts do great near the sea, and in fact, it even makes them tastier. :)

After the tsunami ,will be the best time to buy land and build build

Congratulations, i hope you will make something very nice with it. How about putting a couple of tiny houses on there? It will make for a very quick and relatively easy and relatively cheap option to start things. Also plant a lot of coconut palms for your guests to drink on. :) Coconuts do great near the sea, and in fact, it even makes them tastier. :)
