Hope you enjoyed this podcast! For those that witnessed his playing career What’s your favourite Keith Edwards memory? For those that weren’t old enough to watch him play how old were you when your dad told you all about him?
One of my favourite memories of Keith Edwards was in Division 4 in a dour game against lowly Hartlepool at the Lane. They scored midway through the 2nd half and had some big lads at the back who were determined to hold on to what they'd got. It was a tough battle in midfield but Edwards never came back to help he just hovered on the edge of their box. The crowd were screaming at him Edwards you lazy so and so but he ignored them. About 10 min from time their defence made one mistake and the ball was in the back of their net and we got a point. That game summed Edwards up perfectly. I was on the kop that day and I never booed him because I expected him to do what he did. He did the same to a good Wigan side scoring the only goal in the last minute.
Enjoyed that. Probably that goal at Bolton! Carnage inside and outside the ground. We made it back over the Pennines in a Fiat 126 with no windows. They got put through outside the ground.
The 1981/82 was my first season as a Blade, being 5 years old I didn't really comprehend that we were in the lowest league in English football. I thought we were the best team with the best striker...being on the old standing kop and being lifted up to cheer on Morris crossing it for Edwards to smash home and then hold on for dear life as the fans went mental, was and is one of the best and cherished experiences of my life. I remember going to open days and Christmas parties at the lane, and some of the players would go. My mum quite fancied Keith and she kept trying to get us to get an autograph and a photo with him, whenever we were there. The man's truly a Blades legend for me. Thanks loads for posting this, it's brought back so many great memories, and I hope your Dad recovers well. I lost my mum in 2017 to a stroke so I know how dangerous they are. All the best.
Absolute love the man, the best striker at Utd i've ever seen. I think i recall during one season it might have been in the old 4th division(i could be wrong) where Keef scored his 100th career goal & Hatton scored his 200th career goal.
Well said at end there Kev on behalf of all of us. Favourite moment probably his hat trick vs Northampton and seeing the old scoreboard with 999 and a copper stood next to it. Happy days with me old Grandad Fred
Great Video mate, probably my 1st blades legend Keith and bob Hatton, in fact on my 1st ever game Bob Hatton shot and the ball hit me square in my face, probably about 6 i was, after the game he game over and took me and my Dad into the dressing room, brought back great memories cheers Lad x
Woke some great memories, as a young lad it felt like "Kief" scored every game. I remember fights breaking out on the Kop where one half was for Porterfield and the other half wanted him out, screaming "go on, skin him Col" every time Morris got the ball, the list goes on and on. Thanks lads, great interview UTB!
Hi. i commented my thanks to you for Sir Keith Edwards's podcast. however, I forgot got to mention big Kev.Best regards and it is great you are well and ok. hopefully, see you at Bramall Lane soon. take care.
Different era. Edwards was stuck on the shoulder of the last defender, he always gambled making runs into space and got caught offside load of times. Never ever came back into his own half and was so reliant on his team mates to set him up. Had a wonderful relationship with Colin Morris who know where to pass. Edwards was't quick and had poor workmate but his best quality was he always got his shots and headers on target, he was obsessed with scoring and never passed to his team mates. Also just shows how good his stats are when you consider he never took penalties and often took corners. Due to his style some games he never touched the ball and looked poor, remember in some games our fans calling for Edwards to be subbed off, then he'd score from a close range tap in. Typical Edwards, even when he's playing crap he's still manage to score.

Not seen this one before ruclips.net/video/X6NfgVIjBTQ/видео.html
When Keith had a bit of a goal drought, Porterfield would drop him for a couple of games. Next game back, you could guarantee 2 or 3 goals from him !
Still the best finisher to put on a Blades shirt
My favourite united player of all time. Calm clinical finisher. True legend
I'm from Hull and watched Keith play for city... we loved him too, I remember Keith Edwards as a God

I think the Darlington defender who Keith said was as quick as him was Alan Kamara
