It's hard to satisfy everyone. People loved electric blue th10 walls but they didn't the theme so they got changed. Now we have another case of walls not matching with the town hall theme, some like it some don't I suppose.
Problem is they would have made 3 town halls with blue walls then which is a bit overkill. Also I've seen loads of people say that they hate the transition from th12 to 13 because they have similar themes (Blue)
Exactly! They were already doing the cut scene anyway, why couldn't they just add a scene of the meteor tearing straight through the net to hit the TH? At least then it wouldn't have been a random and forgotten aspect that didn't have anything to do with anything. To be honest though I feel like a lot of events are just them playing adlibs.

I didn’t say there was no bugs, that was basically the main bug (which is small in comparison to what we’ve had), and it’s now been patched like I said.

we lost the eagle artillery because the meteor crushed the town hall to the point of no rebuilding it so they used the meteor power to make the guardians - a complete new energy source and technology

If the poison lizard works against a guardian but the spell itself doesn’t work is probably not an intended feature. It might be a thing that they didn’t have enough time to implement that.

You shouldn't have to look up a video or wiki for information. You ask "what information isn't available" but in this SAME video, it's made a point that there is no way for a player to know poison doesn't affect the townhall guardians inside of the game. And if you need another example, there is no way to know that meteor golems fuse to an averaged level during an attack. There are a lot more things I can list in this regard. As for attacking, do you really think wasting a poison spell on a townhall guardian instead of a defending hero or CC troops is a "preparation issue"?? Like Judo said, the average person would assume it would work, but it doesn't, and there is no way to know without looking at an external guide. If you think adding that information into a section in the troops upgrade menu is "confusing" then you're genuinely just dumb. Like you said, "we aren't 5 years old", so having detailed breakdowns on troops/spells/defenses inside the game is perfectly fine. There is no negative, you just want something to whine about

The other weird thing about hidden mechanics, such as poison, not working against guardians or heel spells, not working against towers, is if they ever reverted returning the players who did not experience the update live will think that those hidden features are still in place. I remember returning to the game and still assuming that healing spells did not work if your trips are being targeted by Inferno towers for a while.
I used to like how the town hall gradually evolved with each level - then after 9 it was just completley different each level. At least this TH has the meteor narrative to explain its changes
i knw Meteor Golem is Op, but early introduction as event kills the hype, at least for me personally. Super Yeti ironically had more than them. I hope they add another new troops before TH 19.
My biggest issue with TH18 is the visual theme, and to be fair I think this is a problem caused by TH17 rather than TH18 itself. They've said they wanted to do a sort of visual reset to take the game back to its roots and avoid having to go bigger and more imposing with every town hall which would limit them creatively, but TH17 looked so over the top imposing and advanced, that going from that to some of the simplest designs we've seen in a long time does feel a bit jarring. I don't think TH18 looks bad at all, but it doesn't feel like an upgrade because they kind of shot themselves in the foot with TH17. I'm really interested to see where they'll go from here with future town halls because they clearly don't want to repeat that situation.

It's clearly not an upgrade, that's the reality...the TH no longer can defend itself lol. That's not good. The Guardian looks really cool, but it's like an advanced hero protecting the gate. But, logically, it makes no sense, in-game, for the TH to no longer be able to defend itself. I guess that's why they had to invent the "meteor destroyed your TH" conceit, but it doesn't feel particularly pleasant. Defending THs is cool, and now that's suddenly gone, after several years of success.
@bernlin2000 It's an improvement for the gameplay for sure since it gives base builders more options, allows Supercell to work on the guardians independent from the town hall (future updates could add new guardians without removing the existing ones) and makes even 2 stars more challenging but yeah it definitely feels weird thematically
When I first saw Town Hall 18, I immediately felt it was just a slightly altered Town Hall 11. It has similar town hall design. I thought as we are progressing, the time in the village is also progressing, so as natural progression goes, things get more modern day by day. This feels like recreation of Town Hall 12. Its like a What if Town Hall 12 wasn't a defence, but had guardians sort of thing. Idk.
As far as the design of the townhall looks. I’m glad they dialed it back a bit and went back to a more medevil design. I like the more that the village was destroyed and the builder had to rebuild it with the cosmic rock.

I feel like the reason why poison doesnt work on the guardians is because theyre technically just mobile buildings? But at the same time, defending heroes are mobile buildings. I agree its super inconsistent.

I think the guardians will be somewhat like pets, where we get new ones and we can pick and choose who guards the townhall, and occasionally new levels appear.

Its not being dumb, it's just trying to enjoy the game. The fundamentals of COC is already a lot of information to grasp (buildings, troops, building armies, clans, war, builder base, clan capital, leagues, etc) cuz it's quite an expansive game, and the extra stuff like Eagle doing 3x damage to golems is hard to remember.
It really annoying to see stuff removed because most people are just below zero IQ and don't pay attention to anything at all. And I'm not even a sweat by any meaning. I'm doing casual Edrag spam on TH13. They should have just let the stuff like Teslas doing 2x against Pekkas in and if someone doesn't even read the description ever, having the downside of not knowing that is deserved imo.
Im am super happy that they added a super clear message into the preparation for an attack to tell you to make sure that your super troops are ready and not missing. i had several attacks where that was a problem and it was so annoying cause i just didnt think about it especially since i swap back and forth between attacks
Another reason to release super chargers now is for players who spend money and don't have enough Sparky stones, they can earn a few more now to get the builders skin
Yup! Well, I'm not spending money but I'm grinding super charges are quick as possible to get the meteorite builder skin! I had all SCs and crafted defences before th18 and it still wasn't enough. After some key defences were built, 3 builders are on crafted def and 3 are on collectors/SCs, non-stop.
Did you forget about the Mega Tesla? We got it at TH12 and lost it at TH13. It's refreshing having a different defence for each town hall rather than see the Giga Inferno again and again.
About the Eagle deco, my guess is people saw and reacted to the leaks, hated it, complained, and they are rethinking how it will look before releasing it. The crafted defenses should release 30 days after a TH, so players can upgrade the new stuff a bit before committing to the temporary stuff.
I don't know why supercell hated eagle artillery, they just vanished the OG eagle artillery totally from the game. And then they saying they will bring it as a temporary defence. Like they first took the chunk and offering a small part of the chunk as a gift
Because it took up too much room in the village probably. It was the size of another town hall, but then again the hero hall was added which quite literally could have been added to the town hall instead of a completely new building.
The best in lore explanation I could think of for the poison spell problem with guardians is as follows. Guardians, much like Seige machines, are constructed troops, and are not affected by spells such as poison, however they are still vulnerable to other forms of attack.

I feel this was a bit bold move by devs on taking off the weapon of the TH as just an update before they merged the Eagle And made The town hall weapon somewhat similar to it and in next completely changing it . Very unnecessary cuz community still misses the eagle 2. I still don't know how they are just merging things together making dps way much concentrated I understand the lack of space but adding few move lanes would be better and eventually we'll lose more key defenses how we lost eagle 3. How are they trying to pace the progress of new players like I think now it's not possible for f2p to catch up with current max as they are adding TH every year so even we feel how it's like to get new TH on day one Idk been a on and off player since 2013 and never had doubted the future of the game but in the past few years I feel the devs themselves are kinda struggling with the what's next? , how can we fix new players catching up soon and on the same time bringing new stuff to regular players Not here to criticize them but just wanna see my childhood game have a sense of direction
The only part of this whole discussion I can really speak on with confidence is point 3. Progression through the lower Town Hall levels has clearly been getting easier over time. Upgrade times and costs have been reduced multiple times, and features like “unlimited battles” speed up farming in a way that simply didn’t exist years ago. Around two years ago a German RUclipsr showed that it took roughly 2-3 years to max a base even if you consistently played with the Pass, and since then we’ve had even more reductions and QoL changes. So the grind has definitely been softened, especially for active players. To me that shows Supercell is aiming for a middle ground: maxing F2P is still a long-term project, but it is more realistic than it used to be, while spending mainly makes the same journey smoother and faster. That direction makes sense and I’d say they are on the right course with how progression is tuned right now.
@Kristian2801 yeah true they have made various changes over the past few years but the example you talked about the youtuber who did it 2 years ago right idk I haven't watched that video But if it's 2 years ago Then there have been changes New Town hall every year that's a huge impact on the game And yeah the lower TH are definitely easier to progress through but once you get to 13 it gets way too slow And gold pass also affects alot in progress and not completely F2P Now if you start a new account it would take like 3-4 years constantly progressing and that's a lot of time if you see And by the time you reach there there would be 4 new Town halls out there. That is 1 every year

Clash is built around long-term progression, and having a “never quite finished” account gives you constant goals instead of a hard end point where there’s nothing left to do. I’m still not sure, though, whether a new TH every year is actually good or bad, since the updates themselves haven’t been that big so far and don’t really add a lot of new things to do. But on the other hand as you said its too much in the end. i wouldnt be suprised if they cut some ths completly for example when th20 comes out that th5 will be removed or reworked we shall see haha

Quite frankly I think they overhyped the th 18 update. Meteor catcher was just lost. They did not do anything substantial regarding the ore economy. The game as they had said has changed in a way that clash of clans would tranform forever. Walls look horrible ( no offense ) and any equipment release they have had up until now ever since the electro boots. And basically the game is the same as before.
What?? The game is more difficult. And the revenge tower and new townhall/guardian already changes the meta alone. The game is not even close to being the same.
Bad TH18 bases are much easier since the Town Hall no longer does a lot of splash damage. Good TH18 bases are much harder since there are so many hard hitting defenses that can be spread apart. The revenge tower needs to be taken out early because it does a ton of damage later on but that still leaves the monolith, ricochet cannons, inferno towers, flamespitter, multi-gear cannon, scattershots, etc to deal with. They didn't really boost healing enough to keep up with all of the increased damage. I don't have the Totem Spell though so maybe that'll help a lot.
Honestly, I didn't feel any hype around this town hall upgrade, only two sneak peeks came, no such much content from clash of clans yt channel, only a creators match which was new and I've enjoyed it although I haven't seen it live because it's timing was 3:30am as of our timezone but when I saw replay i really enjoyed.
19:30 the super wizard tower can't chain to healers during a warden charge/walk if it's targeting the warden. The healers are far back enough to be safe
It can if the super wiz tower is near the outside of the base and your warden isn’t able to move far enough away from the healers after initial deployment before reaching the wiz tower’s range. I’ve had that happen a few times
@NotTBR No not at all, the chain is quite far. As Judo said below, it depends on where & how you approach it. I don’t know the exact distance the tower needs to be for it to not be an issue, but it’s certainly further than ‘right up against the edge’
@josiahdsmith5641 the super wizard tower chains to troops 4 tiles away from it's target. As long as the warden walks 5 tiles away from the edge of the deployment grass they'll be safe
The balance is horrible. You can now only 3 star with rr/meteor golem armies. There is no variety anymore, just use meta armies or you can't push in LL anymore. Troop levels barely got any upgrades but LL is 20% harder plus th18 is more difficult.
Feels like every attack is the same fundamentally, I've found attacking is really dull now. Th14+15 were super fun by comparison when it came to attacking

Honestly don’t like the guardians, the inferno artillery was epic & OP it’s 1 of the defenses I feared. But I do like that the TH is no longer a defensive building that stop easy 2 stars with loon-blimps on TH as well as RC inv walks
the guardians open up a lot of design space though I agree they would have been better as "buildings" on top of the TH instead of little humanoids, but Seasonal defenses are already that so it'd be redundant.

Defending THs is cool, and now that's suddenly gone, after several years of success.
@bernlin2000 It's an improvement for the gameplay for sure since it gives base builders more options, allows Supercell to work on the guardians independent from the town hall (future updates could add new guardians without removing the existing ones) and makes even 2 stars more challenging but yeah it definitely feels weird thematically
When I first saw Town Hall 18, I immediately felt it was just a slightly altered Town Hall 11. It has similar town hall design. I thought as we are progressing, the time in the village is also progressing, so as natural progression goes, things get more modern day by day. This feels like recreation of Town Hall 12. Its like a What if Town Hall 12 wasn't a defence, but had guardians sort of thing. Idk.
As far as the design of the townhall looks. I’m glad they dialed it back a bit and went back to a more medevil design.
I like the more that the village was destroyed and the builder had to rebuild it with the cosmic rock.

I think the guardians will be somewhat like pets, where we get new ones and we can pick and choose who guards the townhall, and occasionally new levels appear.
My least liked on the upgrade was walls. They look like cheap cement 😩😐😑

Its not being dumb, it's just trying to enjoy the game. The fundamentals of COC is already a lot of information to grasp (buildings, troops, building armies, clans, war, builder base, clan capital, leagues, etc) cuz it's quite an expansive game, and the extra stuff like Eagle doing 3x damage to golems is hard to remember.

It really annoying to see stuff removed because most people are just below zero IQ and don't pay attention to anything at all. And I'm not even a sweat by any meaning. I'm doing casual Edrag spam on TH13. They should have just let the stuff like Teslas doing 2x against Pekkas in and if someone doesn't even read the description ever, having the downside of not knowing that is deserved imo.
It took me and the boys at OneHive like 3-4 days to realize we were uselessly poisining guardian. Agreed on how things are very unclear.

Im am super happy that they added a super clear message into the preparation for an attack to tell you to make sure that your super troops are ready and not missing. i had several attacks where that was a problem and it was so annoying cause i just didnt think about it especially since i swap back and forth between attacks
Another reason to release super chargers now is for players who spend money and don't have enough Sparky stones, they can earn a few more now to get the builders skin
Yup! Well, I'm not spending money but I'm grinding super charges are quick as possible to get the meteorite builder skin! I had all SCs and crafted defences before th18 and it still wasn't enough. After some key defences were built, 3 builders are on crafted def and 3 are on collectors/SCs, non-stop.
Yall remember when they got rid of those blue walls? Yeah, those need to replace these garbage walls they have now. They are decorative after all

Did you forget about the Mega Tesla? We got it at TH12 and lost it at TH13. It's refreshing having a different defence for each town hall rather than see the Giga Inferno again and again.

About the Eagle deco, my guess is people saw and reacted to the leaks, hated it, complained, and they are rethinking how it will look before releasing it.
The crafted defenses should release 30 days after a TH, so players can upgrade the new stuff a bit before committing to the temporary stuff.
And also those supercharges upgrade later the year like 6 or 8 months later
I really like supercharges being available on release, it allows me to time out my upgrades so all my builders aren't down for 2 weeks
I don't know why supercell hated eagle artillery, they just vanished the OG eagle artillery totally from the game. And then they saying they will bring it as a temporary defence.

Because it took up too much room in the village probably. It was the size of another town hall, but then again the hero hall was added which quite literally could have been added to the town hall instead of a completely new building.

The best in lore explanation I could think of for the poison spell problem with guardians is as follows.
Guardians, much like Seige machines, are constructed troops, and are not affected by spells such as poison, however they are still vulnerable to other forms of attack.
1. I feel this was a bit bold move by devs on taking off the weapon of the TH as just an update before they merged the Eagle
And made The town hall weapon somewhat similar to it and in next completely changing it . Very unnecessary cuz community still misses the eagle
2. I still don't know how they are just merging things together making dps way much concentrated I understand the lack of space but adding few move lanes would be better and eventually we'll lose more key defenses how we lost eagle
3. How are they trying to pace the progress of new players like I think now it's not possible for f2p to catch up with current max as they are adding TH every year so even we feel how it's like to get new TH on day one
Idk been a on and off player since 2013 and never had doubted the future of the game but in the past few years I feel the devs themselves are kinda struggling with the what's next? , how can we fix new players catching up soon and on the same time bringing new stuff to regular players
Not here to criticize them but just wanna see my childhood game have a sense of direction
The only part of this whole discussion I can really speak on with confidence is point 3. Progression through the lower Town Hall levels has clearly been getting easier over time. Upgrade times and costs have been reduced multiple times, and features like “unlimited battles” speed up farming in a way that simply didn’t exist years ago.
Around two years ago a German RUclipsr showed that it took roughly 2-3 years to max a base even if you consistently played with the Pass, and since then we’ve had even more reductions and QoL changes. So the grind has definitely been softened, especially for active players.
To me that shows Supercell is aiming for a middle ground: maxing F2P is still a long-term project, but it is more realistic than it used to be, while spending mainly makes the same journey smoother and faster. That direction makes sense and I’d say they are on the right course with how progression is tuned right now.

And yeah the lower TH are definitely easier to progress through but once you get to 13 it gets way too slow
And gold pass also affects alot in progress and not completely F2P
Now if you start a new account it would take like 3-4 years constantly progressing and that's a lot of time if you see
And by the time you reach there there would be 4 new Town halls out there. That is 1 every year

Clash is built around long-term progression, and having a “never quite finished” account gives you constant goals instead of a hard end point where there’s nothing left to do. I’m still not sure, though, whether a new TH every year is actually good or bad, since the updates themselves haven’t been that big so far and don’t really add a lot of new things to do. But on the other hand as you said its too much in the end. i wouldnt be suprised if they cut some ths completly for example when th20 comes out that th5 will be removed or reworked we shall see haha

Quite frankly I think they overhyped the th 18 update.
Meteor catcher was just lost. They did not do anything substantial regarding the ore economy.
The game as they had said has changed in a way that clash of clans would tranform forever.
Walls look horrible ( no offense ) and any equipment release they have had up until now ever since the electro boots.
And basically the game is the same as before.
What?? The game is more difficult. And the revenge tower and new townhall/guardian already changes the meta alone. The game is not even close to being the same.

The eagle artillery is completely useless after townhall 13, its not a big deal its gone
Bad TH18 bases are much easier since the Town Hall no longer does a lot of splash damage. Good TH18 bases are much harder since there are so many hard hitting defenses that can be spread apart. The revenge tower needs to be taken out early because it does a ton of damage later on but that still leaves the monolith, ricochet cannons, inferno towers, flamespitter, multi-gear cannon, scattershots, etc to deal with. They didn't really boost healing enough to keep up with all of the increased damage. I don't have the Totem Spell though so maybe that'll help a lot.

Honestly, I didn't feel any hype around this town hall upgrade, only two sneak peeks came, no such much content from clash of clans yt channel, only a creators match which was new and I've enjoyed it although I haven't seen it live because it's timing was 3:30am as of our timezone but when I saw replay i really enjoyed.

19:30 the super wizard tower can't chain to healers during a warden charge/walk if it's targeting the warden. The healers are far back enough to be safe
It can if the super wiz tower is near the outside of the base and your warden isn’t able to move far enough away from the healers after initial deployment before reaching the wiz tower’s range. I’ve had that happen a few times
As I mentioned, it depends on the angle you attack it, if you go to it early it can happen, although a lot is then on deployment of them.

@NotTBR No not at all, the chain is quite far. As Judo said below, it depends on where & how you approach it. I don’t know the exact distance the tower needs to be for it to not be an issue, but it’s certainly further than ‘right up against the edge’
@josiahdsmith5641 the super wizard tower chains to troops 4 tiles away from it's target. As long as the warden walks 5 tiles away from the edge of the deployment grass they'll be safe

The balance is horrible. You can now only 3 star with rr/meteor golem armies. There is no variety anymore, just use meta armies or you can't push in LL anymore. Troop levels barely got any upgrades but LL is 20% harder plus th18 is more difficult.
Feels like every attack is the same fundamentally, I've found attacking is really dull now. Th14+15 were super fun by comparison when it came to attacking

Honestly don’t like the guardians, the inferno artillery was epic & OP it’s 1 of the defenses I feared. But I do like that the TH is no longer a defensive building that stop easy 2 stars with loon-blimps on TH as well as RC inv walks
