Incredibly grateful to have been a UVA Men’s Basketball manager from 2012-2016 under Tony Bennett and the rest of the staff. My four years at school were amazing having this man as a mentor. Thanks for your legacy, absolute legend

No finer man has ever coached any team, any where, at any time. He is a role model for all who played for him, and is an inspiration. You need look no further than the first round loss in 2018 and the NCAA Championship in 2019 to realize the inner strength and resilience Coach Bennett shows in everything he does. I could use the term "resurrection" in all senses thereof.

I am 50 years old and grew up in Wisconsin near Green Bay where Dick coached and Tony played in college. The Bennetts were legends in Wisconsin and shaped b-ball at all levels. Tony , and Dick, were the definition of humble servants. I dreamed that Tony would return to Wisconsin to coach. Our loss was UVA’s gain. God Bless Tony!!!

College basketball will not be the same without him but if his heart isn't in it anymore than it was time to step down, a class act and not to mention handsome from day 1, he will be missed..

I knew Tony's father way back when he took over coaching Memorial High School.
I wasn't an athlete, short is hard to make up in Basketball. But in the classroom, the hallways and peeking in during practice, I learned this Coach is different.
Mr. Bennett was a different style coach. I felt the passion he exuded, his principals and no matter what you do, make sure it's a reflection of who you are.
I followed Mr. Bennett and you could see the trail and lines of others who believed in his principals. Tony and UWGB reached new heights, Mr. Bennett's vision was etched in Kathy and Tony. Both outstanding coaches, but it was the principals they instilled first, everything else followed.
I congratulate Coach, Coach and Coach Bennett. You were great coaches, the W&L were how you were often measured. But your greatest contribution was teaching your players and fans how to live your lives as with integrity, honesty and passion.

We'll see a lot more high character coaches step down as this new era of money-grubbing mercenaries, fickle children and sleezy agents takes over college athletics. It's sad.

Bennett's retirement is a huge loss for college basketball. I completely understand the new college basketball landscape and NIL, but unfortunately at this point without guard rails, there's an underbelly of agents who are impacting the game and it is incredibly unfortunate the effect it is having, and will have in the future, on the game. Bennett's retirement is a reflection of where the game is going. Is this really what college basketball wants? I sure hope not. Tony, thanks for all you did for college hoops, but as a born and raised Chapel Hillian and Tar Heel, maybe not taking down the Tar Heels so often 😎, but what a run you had in Charlottesville. Enjoy retirement, you deserve it! 👏

This is what money and greed does. Ruins a good thing. Been a uva fan my whole life but that institution is so Woke and has gone so far left. They let those kids do whatever they want. I’m gonna miss coach Bennett so much. Other than that UVA has turned into trash. And Carla Williams isn’t a good AD. She’s part of the problem.
