THIS STORY REALLY TOUCHED MY HEART AND AT MY AGE OF 53 RIGHT NOW I AM STILL HOLDING ON TO HOPING THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WILL ACTUALLY COME MY WAY GREAT STORY YOU GUYS THEY FILLED MY ❤️💕💋💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I don't know why this channel popped up for me, I am the polar opposite of your expected audience - old, white, woman in Uk, but I feel enriched by your story. Thank you so much for sharing.
I went to Howard with them too. In fact I was a freshman in Drew Hall with DeWayne! I never ever knew he was gay! God bless you Bison Bros 🙏🏽🙏🏽! Live your lives!!
Ok...this episode just trumped over all the others...Their story telling was deep and amazing... it literally had all the elements it takes for BG relationships to work to its most authentic self...👍🏽
Loved this video! I graduated from Howard University in 2005 and was out of the closet the entire time. It was difficult being openly gay in the early 2000s. I can only imagine what the 90s were like... I can say that Howard has come a LONG way since then. Thankfully.
This got me up at 4:06am couldn't stop watching....thank you all 4 understand this life we live and putting it in real words and expressing our Truth,,,,,,
This is probably my favorite of them all and this is the 3rd time I have watched all of it. They are soooooo riveting and both are so funny and engaging and charming. I love this couple.
Wow! I'm a heterosexual woman who admires and somewhat envies this beautiful marriage. I truly love this couple's passionate and loving commitment to each other.
Wow. This was really great. I went to high school with Kareem and it's nice to see him doing so well and looking great. He found the fountain of youth.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Love DeWayne and Kareem. Had the great pleasure of meeting them some years back. I am still in awe of their genuine love and commitment to each other. It’s a beautiful thing to see 🤗🤗😘
Sampson, I have a few things to say about this interview that you've done with Kareem & DeWayne. 1. It seems like that 30 mins went by QUICK! I was so invested in it, that when it ended abruptly, I was like....it's over??!!! They dropped a LOT of jewels in that short amount of time! 💎 2. This is an perfect example of how TWO people are perfectly designed for EACH OTHER. God brought them together. And they are equally yoked. 3. When Kareem & DeWayne spoke about how after when they began going to therapy, how they began to try and understand WHY each of them thought they way that they did. Or at least have an understanding of one another's VIEWS on things. Which helped them to build upon that communication with each other. So that there wouldn't be any misunderstandings blown out of proportion. THAT right there is what a LOT of couples (i.e. heterosexual & homosexual, etc.) LACK! Because the EGO in us all, wants to always be RIGHT. About everything. And vilify the other person. So we can learn a lot from their experience. 31 Years in same sex relationships is rare. 4. When they discovered that they didn't have to "define" their relationship based off of hetero-normative psychological conditioning, that's where their freedom came from too. Because it freed them up to KNOW THYSELF, and then therefore, be free with one another. Because a couple who can admire the attractiveness in another person, is a secure individual. BUT, I'm learning throughout my own journey of healing is that it only comes FIRST when I am a whole and healed individual myself. And when you are an whole and healed individual first...then it's so much easier to love and be loved by someone else who comes into your life and existence. Because you are secure within you. 5. Because most of us who observe this channel are "gay" or whatever, most of us haven't experienced what it's like to be in a sane, wholesome, and healed relationship with another individual. Because of our experiences growing up in either a religious household, surrounded by ignorant family members, being indoctrinated by this patriarchal society, etc. So, we just flew by the seam of our pants, and had to learn our growing pains through our experiences. But sadly some have gotten and still to this day, get caught up and dragged down by the current of the fast life, because there's no sense of morality OR an anchoring of unconditional love in our hearts from certain family members or people who we can turn to, to help see us through. And so that's another reason why most of us have gone through or still are going through Man after Man, relationship after relationship, hookup after hookup, etc. Because for one, Men are visual & primal. We first are attracted to something by our loins. However, if we don't have the internal tools to be able rationally understand or "compartmentalize" WHY we have these feelings, then that's why you see some go down the wrong path. Which leads to destruction. So, therapy would benefit every Black gay Man, in my opinion. And just us as Black people in general. But that's another discussion for another day. 6. I would like to see Kareem & DeWayne do a series where they expound more upon the lessons and tools that they've learned in therapy. I think that would make for a great segment here with you or on their own platforms. Because for them to be married and together for so long, they're wise and clearly have figured out something. 7. They're relationship cognitively puts me in the mindset of the late great Black gay pioneers such as E. Lynn Harris - The Invisible Life (1991), James Earl Hardy - B Boy Blues (1994), Terrance Dean - Hiding in HipHop (2008), etc. With the former taking place during the late 80's and early 90's. Where the discussion of the "downlow" or being "gay" and discreet or closeted, wasn't in the mainstream as of yet. So I always wonder what was it like or how those who were already grown during that timeframe were able to live? This also makes me think of Rev. Paul Jones (I Won't Complain), and how he was still in the church and it was an open secret that he had affairs with Men. But in order for us to be able to move forward, heal, and not make the same bad choices or mistakes as those who came before us, we must learn the lessons and listen. Great work, Sampson!
Thank you Sampson once again for showcasing an amazing Black Gay Couple that provides much needed knowledge about the logistics of being in a relationship. This also promotes hope for those that are seeking to be in a healthy and loving romantic relationship. That last line really touched me when DeWayne said that he is still excited to come home and see Kareem. Now that is true inspiration.
I so enjoyed your story. Thank you for sharing. I could feel the love via your words and how you looked at each other. It was refreshing. Congratulations on your 31 years of Black Love!!!
I've heard it said so often that men are not designed to be together, we don't possess the emotional construct to be with each other, how refreshing n surprising to u 2 together
❤️❤️❤️. Thank you, thank you for sharing this beautiful couples story. 31 years!! Wow & Wow!!! Congratulations on the doing the work to stay together. What an inspiration to those that come after you guys. Commitment, communication and laughter is written all over their faces. Black Love Wins. So powerful!!! Love their transparency and honesty. Please, please keep doing what you do to tell our stories. There is room at the table for All of Us!!! Peace, Love & Soul!!!!
I'm so terribly upset that this interview is over. I needed an hour of Kareem and DeWayne. This was too good. I really felt like they walked us through their 31 years in such a transparent manner. Thank you. This was a truly a gift and I hope that I can share my life who chooses me like they choose each other everyday.
Love, love, loved this episode. It was impactful, endearing, vulnerable and enlightening. Thanks for this amazing platform where men like us can see others who look like us.
I love this so much. Sampson I have to thank you THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for getting these stories! This one touched me cause with all due respect its so old school but with a GAY perspective and it makes me feel like your doing the work to restore lost stories OF US! Thank you man
I love these stories! They are so great and good to see. I appreciate you doing them and the guys involved sharing themselves and their lives. Such a positive view.....LOVE IT!!!!
Love ❤This! Love them. Love you. Thanks for putting this series together and featuring DeWayne and Kareem. 28 min was not long enough with these two. And what they shared about their learning over the years crosses over into so many relationships. I cherish this discussion and remain inspired by them and you. Thank you 🙏🏾. all my best Tommie
Found these videos during the week and finally checked a few out. I LOVE THIS COUPLE!!! So loving, heartwarming and inspirational. I want them to be my Bonus Dads!
All of yall had me smiling and laughing from the beginning to the end of the video. Loved their energy and they way they grew togther and are still going strong.
That was so great to see a couple that clearly love each other for so many years no matter if its not popular to love who you love. Thanks for sharing this video!!!!
That's what's up y'all had the Daddy's party in Memphis Memphis Tennessee 901 I love your story I'm Craig Johnson graduate of HBCU also part of the lgbtq philander Smith college alumni thank you guys for sharing #black gay love
Another good and fulling video. So much was in it. But, I am sure a lot of us, like myself, could see ourselves in their conversation and reminisced on what could have been...🙂🙂
I think it's important for anyone who has people in their lives that they feel will be uncomfortable with you love choices is to let them go in order to pursue your own happiness. Give them some think time. If they really value you, they'll risk everything to have you back.
I can only add, that outside of trauma therapy and other self help options (which we often need). If you can have a great friendship first (mutual respect, empathy and appreciation) that's stronger than the sex drive. You can very much have a loving relationship because its also the friendship that holds it together. You can love someone and not have a friendship, where you are both miserable ( love isn't always enough) its "How do you keep the music playing" (a wonderful old song). My lover was my best friend first, it stayed that way and so the love stayed strong.
I absolutely adore this couple. This is an example of true love and commitment!

Beautiful couple. Loved listening to them. Very intelligent brothers. I enjoyed hearing how Dewayne handled his parents and protected Kareem.
"I didn't go all the way to Mississippi not to finish!" Classic! Love you guys! I wish you continued love and success!!
What touched me was the last line..."I STILL can't wait to come home to see (Kareem)"
Ok...this episode just trumped over all the others...Their story telling was deep and amazing... it literally had all the elements it takes for BG relationships to work to its most authentic self...👍🏽
