James marsden was literally the perfect cyclops but was so under-utilised.

With the right material, James Marsden's Cyclops could've been up there with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
He still is in my eyes. In the DoFP epilogue when he's basically "yeah...whatever, I don't have time for your bullshit Logan" and walks off, I declare that as his final victory between the two characters haha.

The saddest part about Cyclops is that there are two moments in which he was well written, the first one was in the very first film when Xavier is in a coma, the second one in the Wolverine movie that everybody hates, check that young Cyclops, he's self loathing but somehow can command groups, that is more Cyclops than he ever was or has been since then.
What about the Plan scene in x men 1? There you can see his strategy skills.
The pattern in the trilogy is Xavier always getting taken out of the action so he doesn't just dominate the entire film. That actually straight up applies to Cyclops too - he got taken out in very similar ways to the Professor in both X2 and X3, basically denying him the chance to have any character development. I wouldn't say he's badly written, more that the story writing is just out to get him.

His optic blast in X2 turned into a burping dragon.
The Fox TAS sound effect will always be boss. Though the brief shot of him shooting the discs in X1 was taken from Evolution.
+Cyke101 xmen evolution came out in nov 2000, the movie came out in july of the same year, so it couldnt have been taken from there
It's the same sound effect nonetheless. Could've been the a stock file, just as how the TAS optic blast sound is the same file from the Predator's infrared vision in Predator II. Or that Evolution took it from the movie. Either way, it's the same sound file.
The weird thing is i don't remember the X2 one sounding like that at all lol

Cyclops was my favourite character when I first saw the X-Men as a kid. Such a shame he always plays second fiddle to Wolverine in the movies, although well cast as James Marsden. Bring on X-Men Apocalypse when we can see him get some limelight and kick some ass for a change instead of being brainwashed or turned to ash!

From the cartoons, I've always preferred Cyclops and also in the movie, I really like James Marsden portraying Scott. Alas, I agree to the comments here that he is the most sidelined Xmen character in the films.
Trust me, many said the same. He was my favorite in the cartoons and many professionals have said James was the perfect Cyclops similar to how Hugh jackson was the perfect wolverine. Man, talk about being sidelined in all the series.
Gambit, Kelsey Grammer's Beast, and Rogue were also sidelined characters
Yeah, everybody now knows that Fox xmen-movies story is different to the comic ver. but i'm thinking, if they change the story line, why they wouldnt try to make relation between Cyclops with Wolverine just like Rick and Darryl from TWD. it will be so much powerful, Cyclops will be a great leader and tactician, Wolverine will be the ultimate assasin, Let jeans and cyclops love story not be disturbed by anyone anymore. And wolverine is a "lone ranger". i love to see him to be like daryl, cool and so beast.

My favorite mutant power. The fact that he has to wear a super badass-looking visor to control its raw destructive power gives some interesting nuance to his gift.
While the movies didn't do justice to his character, I think that he was perfectly cast. And despite the black leather suits aren't a fan-favorite, I think that Cyclops was the only one who really looked great wearing them, especially in X2 with the trenchcoat.
Tye Sheridan is a decent actor. I'm sure he can do justice with the character he's portraying. But I'm not sure if Singer would do justice to Cyclops. On a side note, I really wanna see some uber optic blast, I wanna see alter the size of his optic blast from the size of a needle to an all out optic blast. They should also need to throw in some hand to hand combat. Cyclops is usually not a slouch on this department. But above all, I wanna see the bank shots so bad!
he did really portray him as cyclops, that intimidating badass dialogues and that strong nose and hair i could say its on point and very accurate

He has a brief moment of nice hand-to-hand skills beating up that guard in X2. Unfortunately Deathstryke comes in about 3 seconds later and catches him by surprise.

I always liked James Marsden as Cyclops cause he's the best there ever is no one can do it better than him.
Interesting fun fact: Bryan Singer originally had Chris Potter aka voice of Gambit from 90's animated series to audition for Cyclops for the first X-Men film despite that Chris Potter never wanted that role because he doesn't like going through with wearing the dark visor the entire time. He's relieved that he didn't get the part for Cyclops, and he kinda claims that Bryan Singer is a creepy guy.

The blast passes through the building very quick that it created fire by friction
its a continuity error, the xmen movies are full of them, when hes an adult in the xmen movies his optic blast is as it should be, more of a force type beam that comes out of his eyes, not a heat emitting laser. the people behind the wolverine movie messed that up

what I don’t like about the optic blast in the movies is how inconsistent they are. Sometimes they are strong enough to cut through metal, and then there are times it just pushes people away..
I noticed in several scenes he dials the visor, meaning he probably adjusts how powerful the beam will become.
