BC is really special I think.. it’s about friendship and working hard like a lot of shonen and some people call it generic for that, but I think there’s something so.. GENUINE about black clovers writing that makes it a truly optimistic series☺️
Black Clover is one of those series that really grew on me. When I started it, I wasn't really expecting much. I just thought it would be something fun to watch. But it got better and more unique as it progressed and now it's one of my favourite series. You just gotta stick with it.
I am currently on the road to catching up with the series and I'm on chapter 113. I come from a place of slandering the series before I had even tried it and it's not what I thought it was, even though it is not perfect its a great series that people shouldn't hate on it unless they have tried it!
I’m glad you actually took the time and read Black Clover. I personally love the series, and I feel like your analysis of the first 10 chapters was really good. I hope you continue to read because the story gets better and better as the story goes on.
I avoided black clover for a while because of the criticism I'd heard but now I'm caught up to the manga and believe me it gets better and better as the arcs go by and they do give good character development for characters that can seem basic at first.
One thing we can all agree on: The Black Clover anime has THE BEST openings. They're so consistently amazing. Also may I add: Yami best boi. Or rather best man. Or something.
Hi dakurai Thx for editing this. Also im I'm really glad you're reading this manga. Editor if you're reading the comments please tell him the reason why it feels so generic right now is likely because Tabata was scared of getting axed by Shonen Jump. His other manga was a lot more creative in the beginning but it got asked early on
This manga REALLY picks up after a few arcs. I think it's safe to say that the author Tabata went with this more generic beginning to not get it axed. Tabata had another work before in Jump called Hungry Joker which was pretty damn unique, but had low sales and got axed. Once Black Clover was in a safe spot Tabata started going in more interesting directions and truly expanded on a lot of things. This series also benefits from re-reads because there are some really good examples of foreshadowing. There are also some interesting Berserk inspirations (one of Tabata's main inspirations). Some of which are pretty surprising to me now that I reread Berserk and see who some characters may represent. Those white haired lads have some things in common.
It’s really good right now, funny how people took a dump on it early lol. They thought it was suppose to be Naruto’s replacement, but it wasn’t.. ITS BLACK CLOVER 🍀!
It's not funny actually, but plain obvious: 1. Astra wanting to be "King", Naruto wanting to be "Hokage" 2. Astra being annoying and loud, just like Naruto 3. The rivalry between Astra and Yuno, is like Naruto and Sasuke. Black Clover is a generic shonen anime.
@@heartheart8951 "annoying" "loud" I dont remember anyone saying that they dropped naruto after the 1st episode bcuz he yells to much? The thing that separate asta from other protagonist is how truly humble he is he’s not kind to be kind he’s kind and humble because being at the absolute lowest person one can be so he’s see anything better then nothing and calls it a blessing the fact he cried because he’s friend cared for him instead of him being crippled for life and dreams falling apart show truly how humble asta can be other protagonist are nice because the plot need it at sum point or at the beginning but being nice and humble is just apart of asta upbringing which is a nice touch on he’s character just like him being short so he’s looks up to everyone
@@PetarBladeStrok Maybe its because I prefer manga more than anime. To be brutally honest, black clover anime is a disappointment for me. The manga was really great but the animation couldn't live upto my expectation.
Me reading black clover: First arc: Eh generic but I'll give a chance Second arc: this is dumb but a little fun Third arc: this is a little shallow but why can't I stop reading Fourth arc: ha nice. This is kinda fun. And honestly it keeps escalating engagement. It's still stupid and generic, but it uses its massive toolkit of tropes, cliches, and genre conventions and slams them together in a way that just happens to work in an engaging story and fast pace.
The key is definitely the fast pace if they tried the pacing of an MHA (something I compare Black Clover a lot to as they are very much 2 sides of the same coin to me as generic shonen who use their tropes in different ways) It would probably flop hard due to the fact it doesn't refine the shonen tropes like MHA does so the more chaotic faster paced storytelling works much much better for Black Clover to the point I'm at a time where I look forward to its new chapters more than MHA's chapters (though look forward to both a lot)
Tbh it’ll take til around chapter 100 to get a good sense of where the story has progressed to and what we all like about it now. So I hope your able to get their cause black clover videos could be really cool.

As a returning anime viewer, it has a extremely fresh feel to me and i don't think i will forget the lessons it taught me for a long time, nor the characters that i grew to love. Nothing of it might be very original but believe me, i come from watch other shonens just like the next guy. without holding originality as a need you might find that you can really like x recurring stereotype that happens to be y character now. I don't remember ever rooting as hard as I've done for the cast in this anime. In other animes i actively wished someone would die to hold the sentiment x arc really is dangerous or whatever but here i always hoped every (actual character) survived, stopped giving a damn about writing merit, i was hooked for the characters wishes, goals, what they had at stake, that means great writing was already achieved. I also felt like the whole cast remained relevant, and powercreep wasn't much of a thing and that recurring characters really had all the reason to be where they were. I'm honestly in love and can't wait for the next chapter
I just made it to Ch 25 of the manga and I definitely think you should continue! There is a lot that happens in a very short amount of time and a relatively contained environment and it's just awesome.
keep reading, it just doesn't to stop getting better and better. You would find haters everywhere, but this is a really funny and entertaining shonen. It's a taste that needs some tries to like and love. I am currently caught up with Black Clover, my Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaizen and One Piece, and those have become my favorites. I like the dynamic of the fights in Black Clover a lot, the characters, specially Noelle, Asta, Yami which is the best character ever and Charmy.
Black clover is definitely a series that gets better and better. I’d say the main problem is that most of the villains are very recycled and bland but everything else steps up heavily
I really hope you continue reading, Black Clover has some of my favorite fights in all of anime and manga especially when it comes to characters who aren't combat focused. And even though you don't know all the Black Bulls names yet I think you'll find each of their characters to be endearing and interesting.
I remember thinking it was a joke when someone told me his goal was to be wizard king. But I genuinely enjoy the series. The art is fantastic and I like Asta as an MC more than Deku.
I really like Asta as a character and honestly don't see him that similar to Naruto. I can point out differences in both characters. But I prefer Deku as a character then Asta as I find him more relatable.

I mean it is generic....it just uses that fact incredibly well and knows what it is and what it needs to do to stand on its own despite the lack of original content and it does so via its fast pacing. Generic is used too easily as an insult because for some reason people forget that things became generic for a reason and that's cause more often than not they work.
Hey, I really enjoy your videos because you seem to be able to have a very fair take on things and explain your opinions well and I'm glad you actually gave Black Clover a chance. My opinions on BC's critical reception reminds me a lot of what you said in you Bleach video, which is that no one knows what trash is, apparently. Calling something "trash" is to imply that there is nothing, or at least almost nothing, good about it and that it is poorly made - people often throw this around when it is untrue imo. I see so many series called "trash" when they aren't, it's just used as a synonym for "I don't like it" nowadays. (That's without even touching upon the fact that "trash" doesn't really actually make any valid criticisms, it's vague and doesn't actually say what makes it bad.) Even as a fan I will admit that Black Clover is a very flawed series and one that I get why people dislike. But calling it trash is simply untrue. It knows what it is and what it wants to do, and has plenty of good moments, characters and selling points. If there's anything I'd like to see you cover from Black Clover in the future it would probably be it's power system. I think it's a very good one that often gets a little overlooked, personally. (And before anyone reminds me that Liam said he probably wouldn't be reading many comments, don't worry, I know it would be nice if he saw this but honestly I'm okay with anyone seeing it and giving their own thoughts :D )
It was mediocre in the beginning, it was good in the sea temple arc, it was really good in the witches forest arc, it was great in the royal knight exam, it was amazing in the elf arc, it was incredible in the dante arc, incredible in the vanica arc, amazing in the devil ritual mini arc, and I think the war arc will be the best arc yet. Black clover was always getting better

Man, for only the first arc this was a surprisingly positive review. As far as the rest of the series go as well as other shounen series, this was a rough one but this guy seemed to like it more than I would expect a reviewer to. I'm guessing next chunk will be the dungeon arc.
The only thing what really bugs me with the series, it is his overpowering. Like after 4 Arcs the action will be so over the top and a lot of characters will get ridicoulus powerful. A little to much for my taste, but whatever. And it is way better than MHA after my opinion.
All fights in Black Clover get won with great Teamwork. That is the best solution Tabata consistently integrated to the series to avoid dangerously rediculous Powercreep. You might be misinterpreting things just Because Asta consistently deal the finishing blow.

Woah weird timing.. I LITERALLY started a reread today LOL!
Wizard king is such an awesome character that he's worth bringing up without any walls to hold him
He's big broke so he got plot cut lmfaooo
I avoided black clover for a while because of the criticism I'd heard but now I'm caught up to the manga and believe me it gets better and better as the arcs go by and they do give good character development for characters that can seem basic at first.

Hi dakurai Thx for editing this. Also im I'm really glad you're reading this manga. Editor if you're reading the comments please tell him the reason why it feels so generic right now is likely because Tabata was scared of getting axed by Shonen Jump. His other manga was a lot more creative in the beginning but it got asked early on
I believe you'll lean towards enjoying the series and im excited to hear your opinions on it.
And it doesnt fucking matter if its generic or not it's still an enjoyable anime and manga with good story, fights, plot twist. The plot twist with Zagred was done way better then what naruto did with kaguya.
@@heartheart8951 the rivalry between asta and yuno are not even close to what naruto and sasuke have. Since asta and yuno actually have healthy rivalry. Asta ain't chasing an emo dude for 600+ episodes or chapters.

It's a series that is shonen itself. Ot may look bad at the begining, but it keeps improving to a very good series. People that don't like the show have only watched a few episodes, but don't worry the series will catch you later.

The thing that separate asta from other protagonist is how truly humble he is he’s not kind to be kind he’s kind and humble because being at the absolute lowest person one can be so he’s see anything better then nothing and calls it a blessing
the fact he cried because he’s friend cared for him instead of him being crippled for life and dreams falling apart show truly how humble asta can be
other protagonist are nice because the plot need it at sum point or at the beginning but being nice and humble is just apart of asta upbringing which is a nice touch on he’s character
just like him being short so he’s looks up to everyone

Me reading black clover:
First arc: Eh generic but I'll give a chance
Second arc: this is dumb but a little fun
Third arc: this is a little shallow but why can't I stop reading
Fourth arc: ha nice.

@@jordanlewis173 true nothing can be 100% original nowadays and I don't think something has to be original to be good
Hey, I really enjoy your videos because you seem to be able to have a very fair take on things and explain your opinions well and I'm glad you actually gave Black Clover a chance. (That's without even touching upon the fact that "trash" doesn't really actually make any valid criticisms, it's vague and doesn't actually say what makes it bad.)
Even as a fan I will admit that Black Clover is a very flawed series and one that I get why people dislike.

The only thing what really bugs me with the series, it is his overpowering. Like after 4 Arcs the action will be so over the top and a lot of characters will get ridicoulus powerful. A little to much for my taste, but whatever. And it is way better than MHA after my opinion.
Over powered? Him? Asta? Lets be honest here, besides Baha! and Lagros, which character did Asta ever successfully defeat Solo? Think about it.
