that first one really highlights the difference between how joey and ross loved rachel, when ross tried to pick out things he didn’t like about her, he found it easy, but joey couldn’t think of anything
Exactly. You know I originally thought it was weird for joey to suddenly like Rachel but rewatching the series, joey treated Rachel with more respect than Ross ever did
Well even though ross picked out things he didn't like in rachel , he realises that he loves even with her flaws Not just that when he thinks about things which he hate in julie he says " she isn't rachel'
Ross is a terrible human being. No scene showcases this more than when he tries to get it in with his cousin. Literally everything she did was normal for someone you are close to in a platonic way, like have some boundaries dude
Well, my own brother got married with his cousin (our cousin). They grew apart, so they were like strangers for each other, but already with warm feelings one to another. Also in Turkey for exmaple it's just normal. There's apparently no a clear line about this subject. Personnally I find it perverted, but I can understand people when the clear bounderies were not traced in the society
I have the similar feeling towards Phoebe. Especially when she was pregnant with (oh my god) her brother's children and when she treated everybody like shit, as if anybody owed her anything. It was not their babies, so f.. off with your "pregnant hormones". By the way, pregnant women don't have to be jerks. I was pregnant and I wasn't bitching anybody with my condition (great condition, by the way, nothing to bitch about).
Yes, he did some pretty shity things, but he was way better than Rachel. Ross was the kindest friend. He was really underappreciated. He kissed Joey to help him, he drove to help the others when they were out of gas in the middle of nowhere( and by the way, I think they were really bad friends to leave Ross alone. You could see how hurt he was when he was at Carol's. One of them should have stayed with him). He skipped Discovery Channel shoot to take care of Rachel when she had a fractured rib, bought Joey that infamous fake dog, took care of Marcel, talked her ex wife back into getting married and gave her away at the wedding when her own family had abandoned her. He offered to loan Monica money when she was broke and back at their childhood house he offered up some of his own childhood memorabilia so she wouldn't get upset that hers was ruined, he got the Sting tickets for Phoebe and that bike of course( the most wholesome episode). He was so kind to that cookie selling girl, he let Rachel win at poker even though he is so competitive, he ended segregation in the museum cafeteria and went to sit with Joey, He agreed to not date anyone while Rachel was pregnant in order to be there for her completely, when Emily asked him to not see Rachel anymore he was gonna leave the group so Rachel wouldn't have to even though he had known the others longer while Rachel was trying to get Phoebe to leave the group with her. And I'm sure he did more things that I can't remember right now. Sure, he could be annoying sometimes, but he will always be the best friend in the group for me. He was always there for all of them and had their backs. If anything, it was Rachel who didn't deserve Ross. She was the most selfish one, but I admit she had her moments too, but they weren't so many. She destroyed at least 3 chances that Ross had for happiness in his relationships. She wasn't even that good of a friend to Monica who helped her to change from a spoiled, selfish woman to a successful and independent one. She was the worst, but I don't hate her for it, and I don't understand you people for hating on Ross because of some mistakes. No one is perfect.
Definitely. Rachel should have moved back in with Joey and then rehired Sandy, especially sense he and Joey got along so well. That puppet scene between them was so cute 🥰. They were both perfect example of healthy masculinity!
What's missing in this video: Every scene where Ross insists on the "break". I mean, even if this didn't count as cheating - what does the fact that, two hours after they got on a break, he was already sleeping with another woman, say about how much he loves Rachel? If she means so little to him, than Rachel has every right to break up with him! She ALWAYS has every right to break up with him dammit, he doesn't need to shame her for not being happy with him anymore! And when I say he "doesn't need to", then I mean that doing so makes him one of the most hateable human beings in this world.
Both of them were in the wrong (Ross moreso). Rachel didn't communicate what she meant by break and the next day she quite literally said "we broke up". To be fair she could've just been saying that because she was upset, but even if that's the case, how did she expect him to interpret "a break from us"? But then Ross sleeping with someone a couple hours after the fact, cheating or not, is a pretty shitty thing to do because it shows he didn't really care about Rachel if he moved on that fast. It's understandable why she would be hurt about it. Not only that but the whole reason the "break" started was because Ross was being possessive and untrusting of Rachel, assuming she'd sleep with Mark, then he slept with someone else, making him a hypocrite. What's worse is he lied to her about it and she had to find out from Gunther.
Ross is a classic narcissist and mother-enmeshed man. At one point either Joey or Chandler references him showering with his mom. He was enmeshed and became the golden child, when being incestuously groomed by his mother. No wonder he acts the way he does in the show
@@nargisfakhri9243 Right, because it's ok for a 31 year old man to date a 19 year old, barely adult girl who doesn't even have a fully developed brain yet wants to date her 31 year old teacher because she thinks he's hot and interesting is normal. He should know better at his age, to date someone who is barely an adult in his 30s. He is her TEACHER, it's literally something that would have gotten him fired.
The part the sent me off the rails was when ross was talking about the cookies it was so sexist and irritating Like anyone can cook soft and delicious cookes who tf wanna eat hard ass rock solid cookies
Yeah, the way Ross loses his shit over simple things like little boys playing with barbie dolls or male nannies is ludicrous! I mean, there are men who can conceal their toxic masculinity better!
@@Aaron-ld1lu I really hate when people jump on bandwagons based on cherry picked scenes. Ross literally did have a dad who made him feel bad about the toys he played with. In another episode he confides in someone that his dad used to tell him to "put away his stupid dinosaurs and play outside like a real boy." I'm paraphrasing of course, and it seems really out of character for what a dopey sweetheart his dad is, but times have changed a lot, as has parenting. Anyone who has seen their parents grow into more understanding and wise people knows how drastically their personalities change from when they are young and struggling to provide for and set a "good" example for their kids based on the opinions of their peers. Not only did the term "toxic masculinity" not exist in the 60s and 70s when Ross would have grown up, but kids were encouraged to be as disgusting as possible. Ever watch a romantic old movie? If a girl doesn't want you, beat up the handsomest kid at school and literally force her to kiss you and you'll have a subservient and doting wife for life. Ross is, in my opinion, one of the least toxic people on the show. Anyone who says he was a bad boyfriend to Rachel doesn't remember how naive and careless she was in early seasons, constantly leading him on, flaunting her other loves in front of him, turning him down time after time. When he meets a better partner for him, Julie, she forces his own sister to hate her and treat her badly even though Monica has never seen her brother so happy, playing the best friend loyalty card to her fat childhood friend that she ditched and forgot about the second she started hanging out with rich pretty people. Yes, it's a sitcom. It's a shame that we make and break heroes based on characters they played when the word was a very different place. Please, PLEASE remember that having a successful network television show was once a big deal, and if you think it's hard to make successful comedy for young adults in the age of cancel culture, remember what shows were running the table in the last century when hundreds, thousands of better stories were being thrown in the trash by actual sex offenders like Harvey Weinstein.
@@Aaron-ld1lu I'm agreeing with you Capitan because it's irritating when people play pop psychologist for fictional characters without knowing anything about what motivates them personally, why they do the things they do, and whether or not said viewer could've, should've, or would've done the same thing. It's a huge waste of time. When they throw out buzz terms like toxic masculinity, malignant narcissist, shockingly racist, non organic cannibalistic caustic colonic a holic or whatever Dr Oprah taught them in their judgmental bitch master class that day it becomes clear that they want their opinion of the week to sound valid to everyone else who already has had that opinion since the fictional sexy 20 somethings acted out the scene to hilarious effect THIRTY YEARS AGO. I honestly think that Ross not getting the annulment with Rachel is the most egotistical thing a person could do. Like seriously you knowingly went against her very respectable wishes just because he couldn’t stand to have 3 failed marriages!! Like what the hell that’s stupid, egotistical, pathetic, and desperate.
He explained why he didn't wanna get divorced 3 times, his friends/family makes fun of him even his divorce lawyers makes fun of him that's just sad and depressing give the guy a break
@@catalyst.4664 doesnt give him the right not to tell Rachel he didn't get the annulment. They both got married drunk, it was technically accidental and you can't really call it a marriage. Want it or not the only thing that could be done to end it is to get a divorce. No one cares if it's embarrassing for him that he had 3 divorces, his marriage with Rachel wasn't even a "real" one, they didn't love each other like that anymore and lying to Rachel about getting the annulment was the worst thing he did to deal with the situation
@@catalyst.4664 that’s called being selfish. So what you’re getting bullied? Who gives a shit? Everyone, everywhere is dealing with their own problems yet they don’t let it interfere with the needs of others. Ross just uses his as a shield to justify his selfish actions
Nah, Rachel is better off with neither of them. Have Joey continue his platonic relationship with her, because it's sweet, and have her cut ties completely with Ross. That's what should've happened.
Joey x Rachael thing was weird and out of nowhere that's why the writers stopped the thing after a week cause it got awkward for the actors and viewers
Dave is a good guy they were doing comedy at the time sure some of it hasn't aged well but we can learn from how we perceive Ross as toxic so the show deserves to exist and be accessed
I felt so sorry for Rachel when she finds out about that crappy list! When she reads “just a waitress”, she sounds like she’s about to cry! This list episode made me hate Ross with all the fiber of my being, although to be fair I’m also mad at Joey and Chandler for even giving him the idea of making the list at the first place! 😡
@@Adam-ix5kw Yes i understand, but he put a lot of emphasis on "just", made it look like he does not think highly of Rachel, like he does not value her as a person and looks down on her because of her job, even though it was not her choice to be a waitress and even though is a honest job just like his or any other job!
@@nachiketsachin8269 Yea right, Meant SOO much to him that he slept with another woman an hour after he THOUGHT that they were broken up! Like Chandler said, bullets had left guns slower!!
People make mistakes. It wasn't like Rachel was so perfect either. You should compare everything they did through the whole show. I mean, Ross did some very nice things. Ross was the kindest friend. What’s even worse about the man nanny scene is that Sandy just calmly talks with Ross while he’s being insulted. It also kinda seems like he’s used to people being rude to him bc of the way he acts. Makes me sad 😢
Yes yes yes! He decided to deprive his daughter of a good pedagogue. Just because it doesn't fit in his picture of genderrolls. Sandy was so good. I would be so happy to fund someone like him 🥹
The problem with Ross is that he's mentally stunted. Because mommy coodled him and didn't let him grow up, he didn't have to. Judy really did Monica a favor, because she had to work for everything, she's now self-sufficient. When when things don't go her alway, she just rolls with the punches and works with them, while, when things don't go Ross's way, he throws a fit and calls mommy for help.
What I hate the most about the list scene was that he laughed when chandler typed ‘spoiled’ and not a ‘little spoiled’ and also when Rachel went into the apartment
the most egocentric character ever i think that he is the one who did not let Rachel be happy in all her relationships after Ross. MOREOVER, he gets always jealous when Rachel is dating someone, like they’re together. Tf boy, you don’t date her, and even though you have a baby together, you (Ross) justified that there’s nothing between them. In the Friends Universe it must be difficult for Ross. His narcissistic mother brought him up to believe he could do nothing wrong and Monica the scapegoat was also trained to believe that Ross is a poor victim. All very funny in a comedy, but in real life Ross would have no friends and no partner, only his mother telling him it's somebody else's fault. As for coming on to his cousin, Ross really believes that rules are just for other people, the idea that other people's dignity should be respected doesn't exist, but he's constantly offended by imagined slights from his friends. David Schwimmer plays it perfectly.
I see no one talked about his opinion on Susan and Emily spending time together. Like seriously dude, I understand that your ex-wife is a lesbian and she was having an affair with Susan, but still man... Carol and Susan have a happy, exclusive relationship. Even if Emily were to be a lesbian, when you're in a relationship that is GOOD and WORKS, you don't just try to hook up with OTHER people of the gender you're attracted to anymore. It's almost like he assumes lesbians can't have female friends and that's that. Gay women still have preferences and standards, they're not gonna immediately be attracted to women they hang around with, because they could just not be their type. And again. SUSAN WAS IN A VERY HAPPY RELATIONSHIP AT THE TIME. And then he just had the audacity to talk about it with Carol, trying to make her worried about it with his bs for absolutely no reason. Also... I recall him saying "Why can't we just get back together" at some point... Uh... sir? It's because you're quite clearly a cisgender man, and she's only into women. He was pretty much asking her to be in a "pretend-to-be-consensual- relationship, which is just dehumanising. He's always felt like he's been something soooo special for her, and probably hoped that she would "give up being a lesbian" for him. Because again.. he's just soooo special.
You genuinely think it was unreasonable for Ross to be suspicious of Susan? Even if they weren't lesbians, he should just be cool with his ex's wife and Emily becoming besties? And you keep saying Carol and Susan are in a committed relationship so it's absurd to think she'd cheat on Carol, but couldn't the same be said of Ross and Carol's marriage before she started an affair with a woman and decided to come out and ask for a divorce AFTER she was already pregnant with her baby? And you don't think that's fucked up? And he was something special to her. A good husband and the father of her child. Am I saying she should have stayed with him even if she knew she was a lesbian? Of course not. But I do believe she and Susan handled the whole thing about as horribly as possible.
I think what Jerry said to George applies to Ross just as well. "You really need some help, and a regular psychiatrist couldn't even help you. You need to go to, like, Vienna or something. Y'know what I mean? You need to get involved at the university level, like where Freud studied and having all those people checking on you and looking in on you, that's the kind of help you need. Not the once a week for eighty bucks, no. You. Need. A. Team. A team of psychiatrists working around the clock, thinking about you, having conferences. observing you, like the way they did with the Elephant Man. That's what I'm talking about, because that's the only way you're gonna get better." EDIT: Added a missing word at the beginning.
Ross can be so toxic it's sad. This marriage Scene. He didn't think about The consequences for Rachel at all and The fact that Rachel was so patient and told him to Just think for once how this marriage affects her, he doesn't even try. He Just straight up says "I ask you to do me a favor" Like it would be nothing to her and Natural. I'm pretty Sure He never meant any harm I'm Not saying he's evil I'd Just Wish they Made him realise in the later seasons and give him some Character development because without this toxicity He could be such a great guy
If I were Ross instead of trying justifying myself to save my ass I would go to Rachel and say: “I’m so sorry, I should have handle my feelings for you in a mature way! I understand that you’re mad at me, and you have every right to be, but I want you to know that You are not ditzy, spoiled and most important you’re not just a waitress, in fact, you are a wonderful woman, you are very brave to leave your old life behind and start again, and if you need any help to cope with the real world and if you have any professional ambition, I’ll be there to support you, as well as the rest of the gang!”. How about that?
Ohh i just hate ross sooo much I can’t understand people who loves him really, i think that when the writer started writing sketches for ross’s character she just Stabbed the paper with the pen he is the most cringe character i have ever seen nothing he says or do is funny on top of that whos playing it david schwimmer ahhh the most saddest actor of all time I would rather watch james charles talk about makeup better then this cringeness🤦🏻♂️

Ross and Rachel are awful not only together but on their own as well! The thing that bothers me is that they end up together without any growth from the crap people they are🤣🤣🤣
Rachel did grow. She went from depending on her friends and having a dead end job to a career in a field she loved. She reconciled with her parents, at least her mom, and was a good mother to Emma. Ross is basically the same exact person in the series finale as he was in the pilot.
Honestly, I think him and Emily are both horrible, so, they should’ve stayed together. And Rachel should’ve found someone better. Ross makes these mistakes, is the villain, and victimizes himself. I don’t know why people like him. And Monica is bad too. The Gellers are toxic. Except Jack.
Emily was sweet at first, but after Ross said Rachel’s name at the alter, she developed extreme trust issues from his actions. He never really tried to prove himself loyal to her which is why she told him to cut ties with Rachel. I’m not condoning that toxic behavior as punishing Rachel for his mistakes was wrong. But all Ross did was send her flowers. Apologies are not always enough. He should have proved to her that he was physically and emotionally loyal to her. But as usual, there was only a certain distance he was willing to go for others until it inconvenienced him too much to his liking. I really wish Rachel would have ended up with Joey. I personally saw more chemistry between them than Rachel and Ross. Not just bc of Joey’s lack of Ross’s toxic masculinity, but bc Joey fell in love with Rachel slowly as he got to know her over the years instead of just her looks and what she could offer him as Ross had done before him. Either that or Rach could have gone to Paris (like she should have) and met a French guy to fulfill her and her daughters need for a good man in their lives. Monica is a definite enabler of Ross. She had been second best her whole life to him which is probably way she ate so much growing up as her parents neglect and unequal treatment as opposed to her brother would have likely caused her to stress eat. In the episode when Phoebe was dating a sort of therapist, I know everyone hated him for his “insights,” but personally I think that they weren’t prepared for his brutal honesties. Like for Monica, he told her, “it’s just food, not love,” pointing out the lack of love she got from her parents and replaced it with food. While he told Ross that he married Carol knowing she was a lesbian to make up overshadowing Monica. Now, I don’t think he married Carol for that reason bc I honestly believe he revels in be the golden boy and does not care for his little sisters obvious trauma for her neglectful parents, but I think he may have married Carol to self sabotage so they he continue his pattern of continuous victimizing to justify his repetitive toxic behavior. But I do agree that as an adult, Monica had a responsibility as his sister and a friend to others that Ross treated horribly to call him out on his behavior. She did it a couple times, defending Rachel particularly when she told Rachel to call Mark for a job, but she should have called him out on his behavior in general and get him to go to therapy or something. Their mom was the worst. Jack, to me was the biggest enabler of his wife and Ross. He was kind to Monica, but he never stood up for her or even saw her for who she was, much like the rest of her family which is just as bad as her mom whom belittled her every tenth of a second.
@Faith Almon The same thing with Ross. He also had trust issues because of Carol cheating on him. That's why he was controlling. But what about Rachel? She was so jealous all the time. And go watch what she says in the episode where Ross was going out with her sister. She says things like "I don't own Ross," like she actually wishes that she did. "What if he marries her too. This is the worst thing that could have ever happened to ME." Yes, he did some pretty shity things, but he was way better than Rachel. She basically destroyed at least 3 chances that Ross had for happiness in his relationships. She wasn't even that good of a friend to Monica who helped her to change from a spoiled, selfish woman to a successful and independent one. She was the worst, but I don't hate her for it, and I don't understand the people for hating on Ross because of some mistakes. No one is perfect.
Ross is an incredibly well written but truly infuriating character. He's a great example of immature masculinity, it's all about him and his wants, and when he doesn't get what he wants he throws a tanthrum. It's hilarious in a sitcom, but awful in real life. Also the "just a waitress" and then not being able to handle Rachel having a full-time corporate job she loves is just 🤬🤬🤬
Ross was written this way purposely to show behavior like that isn’t right. The show put a spotlight on every time he was a toxic jerk, they didn’t condone & applaud it. Nobody is perfect, we all have our own flaws 🤷♀️
Thats true, i am a little surprised, since i haven’t seen that much of Friends. I think it might’ve gone over a few peoples heads though, especially regarding Ross and Rachels relationship.
Ross is a classic example of an enmeshed man and sever narcissist! He is by far my least favorite character. Always denying accountability, perverted, and very selfish and insecure. Would not want to be friends with him!
shes 13, she doesnt fully understand things yet. she has time and space to learn, her brain hasent fully developed yet. but ross is a grown ass man who tried to sleep with his cousin, dated a STUDENT, cheated, made a list of all the things he hates about his girlfriend, and more!
don't get me wrong, ross did some shitty things but rachel also did the following: - convinced bonnie to shave her head - travelled to london to tell ross she loved him when he was getting married (to me it doesn't matter if she didn't say anything, she had the intention and was even hoping that ross would dump emily for her - drove a wedge between julie and ross - lied to her dad about ross and effectively ruined his relationship with mona - always stealing monica's thunder (come on she kissed ross on her engagement night and got pregnant at her wedding, you think those are both just coincidences?) - hired tag as an assistant instead of the more qualified woman for the job (because rachel is always thinking with her hoo-hah and not her head) this isn't me trying to excuse ross from his actions, it's me trying to make a point. like ross isn't the only character in the show yet everyone is always dragging him and not rachel
Rachel was not perfect and was toxic and selfish at many points of time. While she did go to London, to "ruin the wedding" by confessing her feelings to Ross, the fact that when she reached there, and saw how happy Ross was, and chose to let it go and keep it to herself for his happiness, showed the amount of character development she had. In Season 3, she had a chance to ruin Ross and Bonnie's relationship, and she took it. In Emily and Ross's relationship, she had a chance to ruin it, but chose to take the pain of watching the man she loved getting married over ruining what should have been one of the happiest days of his life. She didn't always steal Monica's thunder, I get that you might hate Rachel, but saying that she ruined Monica's wedding and got pregnant is crazyyyyy. Like she literally got pregnant by accident. And she literally tried to hide the fact that it was pregnant from everyone. It was Monica who realised she was pregnant because she wasn't drinking, and it was Monica who made Rachel take the test again by saying " it would be my wedding gift." It was not at all Rachel's and fault and Monica didn't even have any problem with it. And, also while she had a big contribution in the end of his relationship with Bonnie and Julie, it was HIS choice to cheat on them with Rachel. And Rachel lying to her dad didn't ruin Ross's relationship with Mona, Ross ruined his own relationship with Mona. He didn't tell her that Rachel was pregnant, he didn't tell her about how he offered to marry her when he still wanted to pursue Mona, Dr. Geller just told Mona what she had to know someday and what Ross should have told her in the start of their relationship. And he ruined it even further by lying to her about Rachel, his ex-partner ( also wife) moving in with him.
Well I liked him in the one with the dirty girl; the scene where he had chocolate on his hand and thought he might have killed the hamster. "Guess who? Uh, Department of Sanitation?" Schwimmer was excellent in that scene. Very good comedic actor.
During the time rachel and him got back together, he still chose his ego than to admit they were not on a break. If he truly wants to get rachel back, he could just accepted it was his fault. Super egomaniac this character
I know all of them has their problems and they aren't perfect Ross grew up with the idea of being a perfect man in mind That's why he acts like that I guess It anoys a bit but I think it's understandable... I just think he should understand that some things was a bit immature and knew that.
I get your point but the show defends his behaviour and shows rachel as the bad guy for not loving an “amazing” man like ross because she’s trying to be an independent woman. Which was ok back then but people who defend ross’s actions and words now really need to de favour this show.
Aah....Luckily we had this amazing show and cast back then and not now.. Because Feminists and Offended ppl would have protested against this show...🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude, I really like this show too. Doesn't mean I'm gonna ignore its issues. The show is good, but there are some things in there that have been handled the wrong way. It's just outdated. And this show, like any other, is open for criticism.
He skipped Discovery Channel shoot to take care of Rachel when she had a fractured rib, bought Joey that infamous fake dog, took care of Marcel, talked her ex wife back into getting married and gave her away at the wedding, He offered to loan Monica money when she was broke and back at their childhood house he offered up some of his own childhood memorabilia so she wouldn't get upset that hers was ruined, he got the Sting tickets for Phoebe and that bike of course, he was so kind to that cookie selling girl, he let Rachel win at poker even though he is so competitive, he ended segregation in the museum cafeteria and went to sit with Joey, He agreed to not date anyone while Rachel was pregnant in order to be there for her completely, when Emily asked him to not see Rachel anymore he was gonna leave the group so Rachel wouldn't have to even though he had known the others longer while Rachel was trying to get Phoebe to leave the group with her. And I'm sure he did more things that I can't remember right now. Sure, he could be annoying sometimes, but he will always be the best friend in the group for me. He was always there for all of them and had their backs.
Everyone is talking about the first scene about how Ross pointed out the flaws in Rachel but we fail to mention that he loves her besides all those flaws
@@bisous101 I am not saying that she should not be offended but she over reacted given how she mocks ross over his doctorate degree, the way he carefully pronounces some words while talking and his flirting skills
For the stupid people in this comment section, listen The list of things that Ross is getting criticized for: 1. Saying that Rachel was “Just a waitress” 2. Ross cheating on Rachel right after their break 3. Ross’ Jealousy Firstly, if you listen to the Clip where Ross calls Rachel “just a waitress” you can see that he stuttered abit and it showed that he wasn’t sure about what he said, he just said “Just a Waitress” because he didn’t know any flaws of Rachel so he said what OTHER people would say is a flaw. What makes me so sure is that Ross didn’t stop loving Rachel just because she was a waitress. He always love her Secondly, I admit this is a mistake and Ross could’ve been stronger and not do this, but it wasn’t entirely Ross’ fault. Ross didn’t go to the bar just to have an affair, he went there so he could drink. He got drunk and a woman started talking to Ross, they started dancing and the woman made her move on Ross, ROSS DIDNT DO IT, it was the woman. Since Ross was drunk, he wasn’t thinking and he ended up sleeping with her. He woke up and then immediately realized his mistake Lastly, I do think this is a flaw of Ross, but Ross has always been insecure ever since his wife turned out to be a lesbian. Ross wasn’t the only one who was jealous, Rachel was too. Remember when Ross was having an affair with Bonnie. Rachel was jealous and tried to convince bonnie to shave her head. Ross and rachel both had this flaw.
I understand this perspective on it, but one thing that made me think Ross was awful is that he hold Rachel back a lot. From being friends with other men, and in her career. The difference is that Rachel was in a relationship with Ross, and there was nothing in between Mark and Rachel. Mark was just helping her get the job and was actually seeing another woman. You know? And she's working so hard with her new career and even at the very end of the show she's going off to Paris to pursue her dream in fashion. But Ross waited until the last second to Get her off that plane to stay with him in New York. He completely holds her down from achieving things in her life all because he 'loves' her. When in reality, he's been a terrible boyfriend to all of his girlfriends and only thinks about himself and his own needs. He never once shown that he was proud of Rachel for her achievements. And constantly needed her right at his hip. And always needed her attention.
There would be so much more to talk about him that's bad, bestie. Like just how close-minded he is. I get that the 90s - early 2000s were a different time, but just look at the way he behaves and thinks compared to other characters. It's not a 90s problem, it's a Ross problem.
People don't see the good things he did.
The fact people hate Ross when hes one the kindest hearted one and Rachel is rhe evil one is evidence on how shallow people are. Rachel is only liked because shes hot
Rachel had her moments too. She went after the pizza girl to tell her Ross liked her but was lousy at flirting. He wanted to let Ross hear the voice message from Emily while Monica didn't want Ross to know about it. Ross was jealous of Chip and didn't tell Rachel that Chip was interested in Monica. I didn't see the whole episode but it would have been nice if he apologized and reminded her that Chip brought up a painful memory from the Prom. Of course, that shouldn't have hurt after they watched the video when she walked to him and kissed him. Still, a TV couple that was better at getting together (or making up) than they were at being a couple.
I feel like ross is a bit misunderstood. I will not defend all the things he's done cuz I do agree he can be a bit toxic but majority of the things I'm talking about aren't really his fault, like the mark thing I was on his side. AND let's not forget how toxic Rachel was too, a lot of people let her actions slide and for what reason?? ill never know
Yes he is the worst and doesn't care about Rachel all he wants is a wife a women who can take the place of that. The first episode when Rachel was in a wedding dress he say it as a sign
So Joey the cheater and Rachel the spoiled bully is not the worst? I love them all equally and I think Ross just had insecurities about his ex wife that doesn’t mean he is a bad guy
Ross is the worst because he's supposed to be intelligent. Joey and Rachel are both just basic and simple, which makes their character flaws much more forgivable because you can see they still have good hearts. However Ross is supposedly clever and takes every opportunity to lie to everyone and manipulate them for his own gain. So he's the opposite, clever but with an evil selfish heart.
@@greenwoodorganics4681 Oh so being an awful person can be excused for not being smart?? How is that fair at all. Ross is book-smart, works hard, and enjoys science. That doesn’t mean he’s going to be perfect at relationships. Are you hearing yourself??

@@athesagosarin3168 Let's see: She stole Monica's date She was a known bully in high school She ruined nearly every relationship Ross ever had (Julie, Bonnie, even with her own sister) Hell, she even ruined Ross's wedding with Emily. Dating Ross's girlfriend's dad (not exactly the worst, just weird). Not to mention, calling Mark (the guy Ross was insecure about) the moment after their big arguments. She could've confined with other guys, like Joey, Chandler, or even Gunther, but to call and even invite the guy over was just low. Maybe then, Ross wouldn't have cheated. And of course, she was just s snobby b***h. Of course, she has good traits, but so does Ross and it seems like everyone always wants to treat him as this worst guy ever when he is not.
@@dariushenry88 Monica said it was fine but I guess she had to read in-between the lines. I'll give you the bully(although she did base the rumor she spread of Ross and their librarian from facts, but she still shouldn't have said anything though. Julie, Bonnie- I'll give it to you, but for me the sister thing was weird for me so I kinda understand her. Ross said Rachel's name. She planned on telling Ross her feelings but felt guilty after seeing Ross and Emily happy, so she put aside her feelings. Dating Ross' girlfriend's dad was actually weird for me too. Mark was the one who called Rachel, she tried to deny but Mark just didn't listen to her and went to the apartment anyway. Joey and Chandler were partying and I have no idea where Gunther was. Alright, let's say that Rachel did invite Mark does that give Ross the right to cheat on her hours after they said they should take a break. There are times where she is snobby.
I'm going to defend Ross: 1. When he made that list he was trying to use logic to solve his situation and not his emotions. If you've ever been in love, you know that emotional thinking is usually very easy to give into, but also very easy to mess up your life. He talked to his friends about it and they were trying to come up with a solution, like most of us have done. Plus, Rachel had no right to force them to read the list after they told her "no". 2. Cousins are usually like friends, only you've ease of access to them when teenagehood kicks in. I guess as adults it could be weird if you didn't have that teenage experience, but demonizing lusting after your cousin is completely unnecessary. Most eople have fantasized about it, especially if your cousin looks like Denise Richards in her prime. People will deny it, because "ooh, society" but if you could read minds... Now, marriage and children, that's a different story. 3. The divorce thing is just messed up. 4. The club... he was a child and very awkward. We all did stupid things in high school. At least he didn't shoot her. 5. The toys and the male nanny. I know americans are backwards, so it makes no sense to them, but the rest of the world has very defined roles for boys and girls and even americans wouldn't be so dumb to leave their babies with a full grown man, regardless of how sensible and innocent he is. 6. Dating a student. They are both adults. What's the problem? Aside from the issue with university regulations, how is dating someone older/younger a bad thing if both parties are consenting adults and genuinely like each other? Now, brrrrrring it internet. I'm ready!
1. also it's worth mentioning that not only was he really into the list, but it wasn't as bad as what was actually written down. 2. and I think people completely miss the joke that Ross's cousin was so hot that anyone could fall in love with her.
that first one really highlights the difference between how joey and ross loved rachel, when ross tried to pick out things he didn’t like about her, he found it easy, but joey couldn’t think of anything

“Bullets have left guns slower”
Nah he's right about the break
@@omarvazquez5640 Nope
No wonder he acts the way he does in the show

no he wouldn’t because he doesn’t exist he is a character played by David Swhimmer

Even if I ignored it and kept playing with it, It made me sad what they said.
My mother always taught me it doesn't Matter if the toy is for girls or boys, if you want to play with that, you may.
So I didn't feel embarrassed for liking it,just sad.
@@CoisasdaLuisaHelena that’s stupid. You should be allowed to like whatever you want. You’re mom’s right, whoever says otherwise is wrong
Why? Sandy was one of the most annoying side characters in the whole show. Plus Ross' reaction was spot on
In the Friends Universe it must be difficult for Ross. David Schwimmer plays it perfectly.
sandy was such a sweetheart i wish he could've stayed a little longer in the show
Could probably make a whole series of Ross being just the worst.
Just post the entire show
Only five words make Ross villainous in less than 12 seconds: *WE WERE ON A BREAK*!
....How?
He just got even worse after the break up with Rachel. Just mad annoying
I've come here to see why everyone hates Ross as I have never watched an episode of friends in my life. 3 minutes in and I get the hate
That's what I'm talking about, because that's the only way you're gonna get better."
EDIT: Added a missing word at the beginning.
Thats the greatest drag of all time
Wow I think we should use Ross as an example of why self-victimizing is the most dispicable trait of all.
I hate him so much, really 😡

Ross can be so toxic it's sad. This marriage Scene. He didn't think about The consequences for Rachel at all and The fact that Rachel was so patient and told him to Just think for once how this marriage affects her, he doesn't even try. “Yeah they’re a racist but one time they gave a cookie to a homeless person”
Agreed. Ross is definitely the worst of the two but Rachel isn't great either. At least the other four are decent people despite being pretty flawed
This is the worst thing that could have ever happened to ME."
Yes, he did some pretty shity things, but he was way better than Rachel.
This comment section is a safe space to hate on ross.
Their relationship is one of the most terrible ever made in a sitcom. Instead I find adorable Chandler and Monica
About Mondler - they were never on a break, weren't they ? However they were a gentle couple, not like Rachel & Ross who had the toxic relationships

I thought I was ready to watch this, but wow I was wrong; he's sooooooo bad.
The hate everyone here has for Ross I have the same for Tina Belcher.
Why Tina Belcher??
yes.
Tina is annoying yes, but she's a kid so it's not as awful. Ross is a 30 year old misogynistic man child.
shes 13, she doesnt fully understand things yet. she has time and space to learn, her brain hasent fully developed yet. but ross is a grown ass man who tried to sleep with his cousin, dated a STUDENT, cheated, made a list of all the things he hates about his girlfriend, and more!
My mums favourite character is Ross 😐
don't get me wrong, ross did some shitty things but rachel also did the following:
- convinced bonnie to shave her head
- travelled to london to tell ross she loved him when he was getting married (to me it doesn't matter if she didn't say anything, she had the intention and was even hoping that ross would dump emily for her
- drove a wedge between julie and ross
- lied to her dad about ross and effectively ruined his relationship with mona
- always stealing monica's thunder (come on she kissed ross on her engagement night and got pregnant at her wedding, you think those are both just coincidences?)
- hired tag as an assistant instead of the more qualified woman for the job (because rachel is always thinking with her hoo-hah and not her head)
this isn't me trying to excuse ross from his actions, it's me trying to make a point. like ross isn't the only character in the show yet everyone is always dragging him and not rachel
This is a video about Ross. Gtfo
For me Ross & Rachel are just complicated ( Monica - Chandler should gets more attention than them, they're pure chemistry )
People always drag rachel
Super egomaniac this character
they were on a break..
Hating Ross is my sacred passion.

I just think he should understand that some things was a bit immature and knew that.
It doesn’t excuse his behaviour at all
@@MJ.P.SG-7 yeah, I know.
I get your point but the show defends his behaviour and shows rachel as the bad guy for not loving an “amazing” man like ross because she’s trying to be an independent woman.

@@AnkitSingh-jn9zj She mocks about his degree much much later.
For the stupid people in this comment section, listen
The list of things that Ross is getting criticized for:
1. Saying that Rachel was “Just a waitress”
2. Ross cheating on Rachel right after their break
3. Ross’ Jealousy
Firstly, if you listen to the Clip where Ross calls Rachel “just a waitress” you can see that he stuttered abit and it showed that he wasn’t sure about what he said, he just said “Just a Waitress” because he didn’t know any flaws of Rachel so he said what OTHER people would say is a flaw. What makes me so sure is that Ross didn’t stop loving Rachel just because she was a waitress. He always love her
Secondly, I admit this is a mistake and Ross could’ve been stronger and not do this, but it wasn’t entirely Ross’ fault. He woke up and then immediately realized his mistake
Lastly, I do think this is a flaw of Ross, but Ross has always been insecure ever since his wife turned out to be a lesbian.
Yes, he did some pretty shity things, but he was way better than Rachel.

@reisa nuzura he is right and you are just stupid feminist

@@bollywoodandziegler4395 lol, does the truth hurt you babby? Joey and Rachel aren't awful, they're just basic. Ross is outrageously horrible to everyone and utterly selfish. MUH SCIENCE isn't an excuse to be antisocial.
@@greenwoodorganics4681 dude it’s a 90s sitcom calm down-
At least Joey didn't pick on male nannies! In fact, he got along quite well with Sandy the male nanny!
I disagree. Ross is NOT the worst. If anything, it’s Rachel Green.
You wrong nigga
@@286mic Wrong for having an opinion?
@@dariushenry88 Tell me the worst thing Rachel has done.
@@athesagosarin3168 Let's see:
She stole Monica's date
She was a known bully in high school
She ruined nearly every relationship Ross ever had (Julie, Bonnie, even with her own sister)
Hell, she even ruined Ross's wedding with Emily.
If Ross is worse, Rachel is the WORST period
I'm going to defend Ross:
