Will the pawl cause not getting 3 Rd it over shifts, after shifting into third I get a false N if I then just barley tap down it goes into 3rd does this every time?
It's funny how they were very specific about which way the eccentric is supposed to be and which way the pawl is supposed to move when you turn the screw because when I went to adjust mine it was the opposite way, and it came that way from the factory like that. It shifted fine for 15 years before it recently developed a minor shifting issue, so I guess it didn't make that big of a difference, at least not on my 6-into-4.
I know I'm late to this. I just installed the DD6 to my 2006 Ultra. When I adjusted the shifter pawl I did it Exactly as they say in the instructions and in this video. In my first test ride today it would not go into first gear. At all. So I started in 2nd. It would shift ok all the way up to 6th. Downshifting it would sometimes miss. From 2nd to neutral was very easy but then no 1st. I sure hope I can tweek the pawl adjustment without too much disassembly.
Ive had mine at 2 diff shops to no avail...first of all i had a shop install an ultima 6 that absolutely has no business working on bikes....Shifting linkages fell off riding home...so now i guess im gonna have to take everything apart myself and find out why it wont down shift until its warm then its still a pain...I never return to a shop that didnt do it right in the first place...
I check my shifter today to see if it was centered. With just the arm on the trans, no linkage, I can move it a little forward and backwards, no spring tension on it tho??? feels like it moves on the pins 1/8" each way. My problem is down shifting. I have to hit the shifter too many times hard to get it back to first or neutral when stopping for a stop. It up shifts great ! 99 FLSTC 6 speed baker. Any Help to find out why I have this problem?, the bike only has 6K on it. Just bought it.
Did you ever find out what was wrong? I am having the same issues with a factory transmission shifter pawl. The thing is with mine there is no adjustment pin.
gljazz did you ever find out what was wrong why it wouldn’t shift down? I’m having the same problem shifts up great but shifting down I have to hit it few times then downshift not always but sometimes
RevBiker Big D did you find out why it wouldn’t shift down normally without kicking it few times I’m having the same problems shifts up great just down shifting sometimes takes time
Hey were you missing third by chance? I miss third often when hammering on it and then it seems to get caught in somewhere land grinding. If I go up it grinds and if I go down it grinds and if I do nothing I’m grinding. I have to slam it in gear to make it get somewhere.
@@ashleyholgate9212 i miss 3rd in my 1996 dyna all the time if im hammering on it. Been wondering why that always happened and im suspecting this to be the issue. Bike has 51k on it and im sure its due for an adjustment.
The other gentleman kinda lost me when he was explaining having the eccentric on the pin facing a certain direction. It should be pointed out on the actual transmission which pin or pins and in which direction they need to be. I think I know what he means but it could have been more clearly explained....
This looks like you have to take off the primary covers to get to this point. Both front and back covers. Along with the clutch plates, primary chain and primary gear.
Thank God we have companies like Baker making better parts for the Harley .
Thanks guys!

Always had a hard time downshifting, tried this now everything is smooth.
How long does it takes?
@@claudebessette551 Mine is a custom pro street. Took me 10 min.easy!
This is great, but need to specify which years this eccentric screw is applicable. Supposedly they have a fixed screw after 2000.
I don't think they respond to comments on RUclips however they are always available for technical questions online on their website

Thank you for the helpful info Baker!
Does this apply to a 2018 with the grudge box?
Curious does this not apply to my 2001 fxdl? I feel like this is my issue after replacing shifter arm and linkage and shifter shaft

Add me to the list😂 mine won’t shift down either and advise out there?
93 Fxstc...new clutch, can't get it to go into neutral. Can I remove the spring plate?
Adjust the clutch and check primary tension

79 Xlh Harley 4 speeds are they the same iron head
Have an issue with mine in 3rd gear. Can this be done without removing transmission.
Yes.
Anyone had a hard time upshifting at higher rpm’s and this was the problem?

Someone please tell me how to spell the Accentric screw? I’m leaking trans oil from it
Eccentric. How full is your gearbox that you are leaking from the top of the trans!? 😳
But, but, but... Pawl!

The tip of the screw is offset in a way.
how do you do this with the transmission still in the bike?
