    Great video. Liked the sharing of your emotional attachments to the locos, especially the class 20.
    In my list, I would also include the Deltic (the loco other diesels called 'sir'), the 20 (it's just a cool loco) & an A4 (how could you not?). Then I'd add:
    a 37 (growing up in South Wales in the 1970s/80s a Tractor seemed to lurk around every rail curve); an A1/3 (I know you're not keen, but FS & Papyrus are historic locos); a GWR 57/8750 (because preserved 9600 used to work at the same coal mine as my dad); a Robinson 04, Stanier 8F & and a Castle, becuase I have been fortunate enough to have driven an example of each; and finally a Hymek as a representative of the erstwhile GWR's final show of independence from BR.

    Love the terrier, but I would have gone for Stepney personally. Also Black 5 Sherwood Forester even though it's only available as a pre order in O gauge, as I've driven it.

    That’s a nice selection, love the Terrier.

    Hi there,
    I am an overseas modeller with a taste for British model railways. I wonder howcome the Hornby H class in SECR has not made to this list, as I believe it is preserved as well. (I am well aware of the model's performance issues but the livery & brass dome are indeed charming).

    What, no Gronk?! I think you may be a secret English Electric fan there Jenny, 2 Deltics and a class 20.. I would definitely agree with all 3; I bought the Bachmann DP1 when it first came out, it's an impressive beast that vibrates the baseboard..

    Nice Jenny. I have the Accurascale Deltic and have pre-ordered the Hornby doubleO prototype . I hope it materialises. When I was a kid in my train spotting days I used to see the prototype in blue racing through Wood Green ( Allly Pally) on it way towards Kings Cross. OH, how I wish I had a camera in those days.

    Fun video. I wish you'd done top 10 steam locos and top 10 diesel+electric separately, just so we can hear about more of them. From my own collection my favorite preserved locomotive is the SECR D class, looks so classy and classic.

      Good idea! Here's my two lists, with just a Top 5 for diesels...
      Gresley A4 - Beautiful, historic loco;
      Gresley A1/3 - Ditto;
      Robinson 04 - Drove one;
      Castle Class - Ditto;
      Stanier 8F - Ditto;
      King Class - One originally carried my name;
      GWR 57/8750; the preseved one (9600) work at the same coal mine as my dad;
      GWR 56 - icon of the South Wales Valleys;
      Peppercorn A2 - the pinnacle of British steam traction;
      BR Std 9F - Requiem to steam.
      Class 20 - just a cool loco;
      37 - grew up with them seemingly everywhere, are still in service (even though they're older than me), and make a lovely noise;
      Deltic - the loco other diesels call 'sir';
      Hymek - hydraulics were the erstwhile GWR's final attempt to demonstrate their independence;
      IC125/43 - as important in historic terms as FS & Mallard;
      Honourable mention - BTH/15, a type 1 (other than the 20) that actually worked!

    I'm proud to say that I have only one preserved loco, it's 60103 on 16.5mm gauge with the correct scale for that gauge.

    See in my collection i seem to have mostly preserved locomotives from the Severn Valley Railway including two of the Manors Hinton and Erlestoke (Bradley Manor from Dapol has also been pre ordered), 1501 the WR 15xx, Taw Valley in its special Elizabeth the Second Platinum Jubilee livery and for the diesels I currently have a older Hornby model of Western Courier and the Lima Class 40 Atlantic Conveyor.
