This song in my opinion is what VHS heaven sounds like, even more when I just slow down the entire original sample. A e s t h e t i c s [no copyright infringement intended]
I know there aren't huge changes in this compared to the original but I've been listening to this for a year or two, it's just so good and nostalgic. Thanks man
@@issabeganovic8822 What I mean is that SP's track samples the original (in addition to the audio manipulations), while this just does the audio manipulates. So the video title could've been just "Pillow Talk vaporware" or something.
It's a synth that was sped up an octave. The original track (Pillow Talk by Lustt) is from 1983. The original track (Pillow Talk) is in D major. This slightly slowed down version of Pillow Talk in this video is in B flat major (Private Caller is also in B flat major). When Lustt recorded Pillow Talk in 1983, the intro was recorded in D major. Then they sped it up by 50% (an octave), resulting in it sounding high pitched and very fast (but still in D major). This is what you hear on the final recording. To hear the intro to Pillow Talk the way it originally sounded before Lustt sped it up for the final recording, download the original track by Lustt (It's on youtube about 5:11 long). Then use the program Audacity and change the SPEED percentage to -50.000. This allows you to hear the keyboard intro the way it was recorded before it was sped up for the final recording.

There's a thing with private caller where there are some intentionally misplaced extra beats and that's just beautiful but this is very beautiful too. Why can't you let beauty flourish?
this sounds awful as an "improvement". it's missing the reverb, the vocal chops, the heavy eq bass, and the phaser effects. it's missing what made the song good and it didn't add anything new so it just feels hollow
I, I, I, I, I Hey, baby, let me stay I don't care what your friends are 'bout to say, ah-ah What you friends all say is fine But it can't compete with this pillow talk of mine You can't find love on a one way street It takes two to tangle, takes two to even compete, oh, yeah So boy, just put that stop sign down And let's get together before the day runs us down I'm pleading to you now Hey, baby, let me try To be the one's who's gonna light your fire, ha-ha What you friends all say is fine But it can't compete with this pillow talk of mine Ooh, I don't wanna see you be no fool What I'm teachin' you tonight Boy, you'll never learn it in school, oh, no So friends who tell me wrong from right I'll ask to borrow their pants some cold and lonely night Ooh, hey, baby, let me be The one who turns you on from A to Z, ha-ha What you friends all say is fine But it can't compete with this pillow talk of mine Ooh . baby Ooh, baby, la-la-la-la-la-la-la Ah ...would you, baby Would you, baby, la-la-la-la-la-la-la I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I Uno momento por quito Uno momento por quito I, I, I, I Nice daddy, nice daddy, nice daddy I, I, I, I Oh, my God
In the 1983 Lustt version of Pillow Talk, the Yamaha DX7 internal patch "Electric Piano 1", Oberheim DX and Roland JX-3P patches “Funky Clav” and “Detuned Synth Bass” and custom patch “Synth Bass” were heard.
This one actually has the full lyrics, so you actually know what the original song says, as opposed to the private caller one which is annoying because the lyrics are blatantly cut off (I.e. friends are about to-music)
@@strangify- vocals aren’t the point of Vaporwave tho. It’s just the vibe. You might just like slowed versions of songs but that wasn’t his goal when remixing and making private caller.
@@JPdraws_ true. I think my main issue with original was it didn’t rhyme in certain parts because of the lyrics getting cut off. Probably should’ve clarified
So after some research, I found that the original version of pillow talk was by Sylvia which was then redone in a more disco type song by Lustt and then again made into Saint Pepsi’s vapourwave version Private caller. Pillow talk - Sylvia 1973 ruclips.net/video/NA2X1040_gY/видео.html Pillow talk - Lustt 1983 ruclips.net/video/e2FI1qTLjNk/видео.html Private caller - Saint Pepsi /Skylar Spence 2013 ruclips.net/video/Ki-fATpXa00/видео.html
Not calling myself "artist" of the year or anything, just stating my own opinion, because "Lustt - Pillow Talk (Chopped and Screwed)" doesn't sound even close as good. Also, nice to hear it.
Sample is:
Lustt - Pillow Talk
(that is not a typo)
Dude you got that Saint Pepsi sound so right! I‘m currently puzzling about How to get that to make a Version of Cherry Pepsi like this.
@@GuitarMastr3000LP Pitch the sample 4pct, then tempo to 110-120. Easy to get same tune, but harder to get the cuts like cherry pepsi.
From Pillow Talk to Pillow Talk, then to Private Caller, and this. I enjoy every iteration of this song.
Me too
Lustt - Pillow Talk (1983) (Slowed Down Remix/Version/Mix) (Inspired by Saint Pepsi - Private Caller).
Inspirational title, but I just like to keep it mostly simple...
@@issabeganovic8822 yea, but the thing is that it’s not an improvement on Private Caller. I still liked what you were going for, though.
I don't exactly know if it's improved, bit it's just so good

I know there aren't huge changes in this compared to the original but I've been listening to this for a year or two, it's just so good and nostalgic. Thanks man
It's a good remix I love it the original is awesome and this version is beautifully executed.
It's not really Saint Pepsi's "Private Caller",rather just the original Pillow Talk with bits of Private Caller.
I mean it is. I've literally got no reason to say why it isn't.
Which do you prefer overall?

Infinitely better than Private Caller, anyone who says otherwise is a tuneless vaporcringe.
You gotta love the synth intro.

Did you reverse engineer the synth sounds? Cause that's pretty intelligible knowledge you have.
omg
love knowing this stuff! Hell yeah
The singer sounds like Sade. That's partly why I like this so much. :)
I hear a combination of Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet as well.
You've improved pillow talk but not so much on private caller
The og private caller is the best verison this is more of a deluxe verison with more
I'm getting ads that talk about "Pillow talk" when I click on this video. Probably not a coincidence is it???
How is this improved? It’s basically just a slowed version of the song sampled for private caller. That’s kinda a downgrade. Still good ig
I kinda prefer this version over the original. The slow more clear vocals makes it more enjoyable in my opinion.
