Finally a video on the sukhoi su 7, my grandfather will be delighted to see this video. He was in the 221 squadron 'Valiants' which attacked and destroyed military targets in dhaka in 1971. Because of its somewhat bad reputation the sukhoi su 7 was the forgotten fighter aircraft of the Indian Airforce

      Dicta Boelcke:
      1. Try to secure advantages before attacking. If possible, keep the sun behind you.
      2. Always carry through an attack when you have started it.
      3. Fire only at close range, and only when your opponent is properly in your sights.
      4. Always keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses.
      5. In any form of attack it is essential to assail your enemy from behind.
      6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it.
      7. When over the enemy's lines never forget your own line of retreat.
      8. For the Staffel (squadron): Attack on principle in groups of four or six. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, take care that several do not go for the same opponent.[6]

High landing speed, thirsty all the time, but fast like a bat out of hell, Iraq used these against us plenty times, I remember seeing them bombing our city few times, once it was one, once there was two coming in a trail, second one got hit as they dashed through the valley but they both hit the bridge they were going for and escaped, last time there was four, they dived down in close formation and put more rockets than God into those barracks East of the city... then I didn't see their colors until I was in conscription twenty years later, this time two Su20s from our own guys showed up during a wargame and put some bombs and guns into a target few kicks to the south of our line, man those things are amazing to watch, and they are tall and thin from the side, that's when I started calling them angry freight train...

The fighter interceptor was actually the Su9 (not the7), with a wing plan similar to the Mig21 and later evolved in the Su15 and it's variants.

It's interesting how the UK left the subcontinent divided and how the NATO empire that superseded that empire now tries to keep it divided. War and bad blood between India and Pakistan, but also a complex diplomatic and economic situation between those two and Russia and China. I have noticed how if all four begin cooperating, the NATO empire tries to drive the wedges back in between them, e.g., the Imram Khan ousting in Pakistan -- who I remember visiting here in NZ for cricket matches and how he was one of the best, or US visits to the region trying to derail peace by getting countries to chose sides using the 'for us, or against us' tactic, etc. Peace Sells, But Who's Buying huh? (a song title)
I think if those wedges fail to prevent peace breaking out and strategic economic cooperation grows among those players, all four countries will prosper and move forward rapidly, because together they have all the human and material resources required to do it. Many countries will want to join them.
I am a NZ'er and of European descent, but I think this century is shaping up to be one for Asia and Eurasia. I see signs of the so called western world stagnating and even declining. I think Asia and Eurasia could boom and rapidly advance living standards and tech etc. It just needs peace, stability and fair cooperation. That requires earned trust and shared vision. I'd bet on it happening, because countries are asserting themselves and not being bossed to bend the knee to sole superpower Uncle Sam like they were in the 1990s etc. Asia doing well will be good for NZ too, because we sell lots to Asia, but not much to the USA.
Let's make sure the USA does not get its new cold war with the front lines in Asia like it wants. War is interesting, but I am not keen for it, or another cold war. I lived through the last one. Seeing the year 2000 seemed 50/50 at times. The Yanks won, so I think they must presume they can win another one. A high stakes gamble, not a sure thing or playbook for victory. Get it wrong and radioactive ashes will be the destiny of millions. They seem to thrive on chaos and conflict, although it is not doing their $33 trillion debt much good, plus they seem to be turning on each other over their own wedge issues that divide Americans. The best thing the rest of the world can do is just ignore them and get on with prospering together by bypassing the Yanks and all their economic roadblocks, CIA/State Dept meddling, media propaganda etc (yes, the Americans do propaganda and public opinion shaping domestically and globally -- and perhaps more than the rest of the world combined).
P.S. The Su-7 doing drifts on the ice. My millennial relatives would be very impressed if a Mazda RX7 did that, let alone a fighter jet. I always thought of the jet more as an interceptor, come fighter bomber in its revision. Great looking plane. I can not decide my favourite Soviet jet of that era. I like the lines of the MiG-19 too. Sure, this or that plane is better, but in the context of the time, they were not bad at all. The Soviet design bureaus had the TsAGI facilities expanded, so they could test designs and aerodynamic theory in supersonic wind tunnels etc. The research often bore fruit, e.g., the later Su-27 and MiG-29 airframes were astonishing for their time. -- I remember the amazement well. I am also always amazed at how the Soviets took an almost feudal Russia that was decades behind the west and was mostly illiterate peasant farmers, but turned that into a highly educated, fairly advanced superpower in a very short time. That is mind boggling levels of socioeconomic and technical advancement (there's good and bad in it and it ran out of steam for many reasons internal and external, but it's still impressive from a historical point of view that it occurred at all, e.g., periods where the growth rates were in the hundreds of percent, whereas now a few percent is considered fast).
BTW. I despise things about the US patrician class, i.e., things about the billionaires and hedge funders et cetera, but I have no problem with the average working American, apart from too many of them drink the Kool-Aid, which led to and still leads to their government causing many, many millions of deaths worldwide since WWII. I hope the Americans prevail that want the USA to be just another country, rather than this self appointed leader of the free world BS and the world's policeman etc.
US tax payers pay a lot of the cost of all that, but they do not see hardly any of the ROI on their investment. - Wall Street does, while the average US worker just gets a little trickle down if they are lucky. Sometimes they benefit economically though, but that is offset by high costs of living and declining real incomes etc. Some non-first-world countries are almost overtaking them, or have already. The USA is very uneven socioeconomically though. A huge gap between the millions of poor and the few super wealthy, while the so called middle class shrinks and edges closer to the living standards of America's poor. I spent two years in Michigan 2014-2016 and saw the Rust Belt and homeless etc. It shocked me. Parts of it looked just like the decrepit factories liquidated after 1991 in the former USSR. I'll never forget what I saw in Detroit. Miles and miles of urban and suburban decay, industrial ruins, and true poverty out in plain sight (poverty by any standard a few notches short of famine and war etc).
Woops. I wrote a little comment and just kept editing and adding more. It's something I think about at times. What kind of world the younger generations of my family will face. The same old, same old, but lots of different too. History does not repeat, but it does rhyme. I suspect AI and automation will transform the capitalist methods of production so much that it will transform society gradually over decades like steam power and electricity et cetera did to feudalism's age old systems of production and society during the Industrial Revolution. Something new taking shape. That could be a good thing, or it could be a terrible dystopia like the TV series The Expanse where there is very little work for folks stuck on Earth, so they live on rations pretty much. It could also be something in between those two poles. A lot depends on who owns the machines and the wealth they produce etc. They are the ones who will have the political power to shape what it all looks like and where it goes, because what is called democracy is really more akin to plutocracy and oligarchy. Okay, I am done. It's getting late. Cheers to anybody who read all this. Have a nice day whoever you are and wherever you are :).
Then there's Africa. The wealthiest continent perhaps, but also the poorest. Centuries of corrupt leaders installed by western colonial powers looted all that wealth and they still do even after supposed decolonization. Education, organization, genuine sovereignty over wealth and policy, true self determination, unity and solidarity among African nations, mutual cooperation and socioeconomic development to the benefit of Africans, not Wall Street, Paris and London etc. The recipe for Africa's success. Easier said than done, but Africans are more than capable of it if they all put their minds to it and refuse to be played by the former business suited looters.

On the contrary SU-7, was not a very effective fighter bomber. I experienced 1965 and 1971 war as a school going kid. SU-7 was used in 1971 War. In all parts of the country the SU-7 fought unsuccessful air combats and were seen going down like Mosquitos and little Birds falling from the wide Blue sky. One, was shot down where we lived, and it was down by a F-86 E.. SU-7 Pilot ejected and became a POW. Talking about this particular video, your commentary is incorrect, first hand information report on this incident was that this SU-7, after Recon mission was fleeing away, and while vanishing from the area, spotted two Mig-19's. Since SU-7 was coming from the recon mission, so its all electronics were open / operating and was intercepting the radio communication between the Mig-19s and their radar, during all this it took a pot shot on one of the MIg-19, who were not even aware of the SU-7 being in the area. Both Mig-19s were not vectored by the radar authorities and a lucky shot by the SU-7 hit the Mig-19. This is how it happened. To verify, read Air Marshal Ayaz Khan's article in the magazine called Airforce, September 2009. Same Squadron of Mig-19s, shot down 6 SU-7 and 2 Mig-21s during the War. But it is not to be mention, since this channel is supported by a special vested interest and a of group, who has been given this project to circulating incorrect information and lobbing a wrong kind of propaganda about the opponent air force. After all opponent Air Force gave hell to the enemy, not only in 1971 but also in 1965. in 1971, 102 fighter planes were lost by the enemy and shot down by the opponents and out of which, 25% of were shot down through the ground fire, rest were shot down in the air combat. SU-7, did not do well during the 1971 War. SU-7 were shot down by F-86-Es, Mig-19s, Mirage III and F-104. So, SU-7 did not do well against any of the opponent fighter planes. Enemy Mig-21 did better as compared to 1965 War in which they lost 14 Mig-21s on the tarmac in the famous and popular Pathankot air strike by the opponent F-86-Es. In the 1971 War, enemy lost 102 fighter planes and out of which 50% or more were SU-7s. Even in East Pakistan, SU-7s and Mig-21s were lost to the opponent F-86-Es.

Only Indian victories? You have a strange definition of 'only' 😁 The Alam story is currently not doable because of available assets but it will be in the future.

Su7s were a headace for IAF. HUGE in size they were not manoverable. 48 out of 50 were lost in 71. IAF should be thankful to PAF for reducing if not elimlnating their prblem.

There are videos with Pakistani success, you just didn't bother looking for them. Instead, you watched two of them and assumed something. Your comment really speaks a lot about you.
