  • Well, this is what many of you have been waiting for. This yard transformation was absolute mayhem. I initially said no to this cleanup because it was far too bad for me to attempt. The owner really pleaded with me to help, so in the end, after thinking about it overnight, I rolled up my sleeves and got the job done (all for free). Let me tell you, it was pretty horrendous. There were all sorts in here - rubbish, old clothes, old dryers, old washers, dog poo, rat poo, dust, dirt and who knows what else. It was crazy. All up, it took me around 11 hours to complete this section of the job. It also included 3 trips to the landfill and 2 trips to the metal scrappers. This is part 2 of 3.

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

I’ve always understood that if things break or need fixing you don’t have the money to buy certain things but to hammer a nail a piece of wood on fence because it’s falling off that doesn’t take much. Picking up trash is a big one, it doesn’t cost any money to pick up trash and slowly put it in your trashcan for weekly pick up just whatever room you have left after the house trash. Usually homeowners have basic tools for cutting bushes, I’m not saying gas or battery but hand tools especially thrift stores or pawn shops. I had a friend who somebody stole his tools and he replenished almost all of them from a pawnshop because he couldn’t afford new. Sometimes I’m in the mood to clean and sometimes I’m not because it’s 68 I don’t have the energy I had at 30 but I’ll give myself 15 minutes to clean and whatever I get done I get done and then the next day I’ll give it another 15 minutes if I have to or just wait a few hours and give it that extra 15 minutes, you can do the same thing outdoors you don’t have to do it all in one day just go out there for 15 minutes and work your 15 minutes and then see what’s accomplished and don’t try to do the whole yard go to one little area at a time that way you’ll see a change right away in that area which will release endorphins which will make you feel better about what you’re doing.

A TOTAL TRIUMPH George, on what appears to be a hoarder's home! Sadly, we may never know the events and circumstances in life that lead to this situation. I'm grateful for this woman that you decided to help her in spite of the obstacles and overwheming nature of the project. I also love how you break the insurmountable project up into manageable sections. It's a great example to us all George. Will you be helping with the van we saw in front of house in 1st instalment. It was packed to the gills as well.

I have no sympathy for these people. Young, old, disabled, ill, etc.. If you can throw garbage on the ground, you can throw it in a trash can. If you can drag furniture and appliances outside, you can drag them to the end of the driveway. I must be cold hearted because this video angers me. You are a hard worker George and I will give the video a like for you.
