Chef Bayless never ages a day, skinny as can be, and like the happiest guy ever! What’s the magic… Mexican comida!

He looks pretty normal to me, not “skinny as can be.” I think your view of weight has been distorted by the obesity epidemic.

The only way our Mexican household warm up tortillas wether they are corn or flour is in the Comal or if you have a gas stove right straight in the burners like my abuelita did it.

I use a round quilted tortilla warmer. I think it’s supposedly used to keep them warm on the table, but I put a couple tortillas in it and microwave for about 30 secs. Perfect.

I always just use the comal on the stovetop. It seems to work just fine, and I only want a few tortillas for me anyhow. But we do buy handmade tortillas locally, so they are a better quality than the store bought ones. When my mom would make any kind of tortillas, she’d always use pork lard. They were always beautifully tender, and so tasty.

Yep, the comal is the way to go. Mine is cast iron, and I get that slight crisp to them that I love so much for tacos.

Same, we also use a comal to heat up tortillas. I've tried microwaving them but they always stick together for me, but I don't wrap them in a wet paper tower and put them in a bag. Maybe I should try that.

We, Mexicans, reheat ours on the comal, or even directly on the flame.

Yes I use the microwave method when I need to reheat a lot of tortillas at a time but the stove top method makes the tortilla taste better it just takes a bit longer.

I just toast them on a comal at about med-hi heat for 5 or so seconds on each side, then put in a small casserole dish lined with a tea cloth, then cover and let steam until the meal is ready to serve. Maybe takes a few minutes longer.

THE RIGHT WAY to heat up Tortillas is ON A Griddle (or a Comal as it's called in Mexico)...NEVER in a Microwave and NEVER in a group...They have to be placed on the Griddle INDIVIDUALLY...Two or three as they can fit, and turning them over as they are heating up and start browning a little.
Similar process as when they were completely fresh-made.

The safe way so that you don’t infuse toxic chemicals from paper towels or nano/micro plastics from plastic bags is to put a stack of corn tortillas on a dinner plate add a little water to one side and cover with another dinner plate turned upside down and heat it up in the microwave to steam the tortilla stack to make them pliable.

Based on what Rick said here, if you have the standard store bought tortillas, you need to add moisture. I run stale bread under the faucet before reheating it to add moisture, maybe this same technique would work for tortillas… run one side under the tap, start heating that side down in a hot pan to create steam…

I wish you had covered tortillas from a tortillería as it took me a while to find the right way to work with them! My tortillería sells them by the kilo, and fraction thereof. I buy a half kilo at a time. When I get home they're still hot and I unwrap them from their paper wrapper and lay them out on the counter to cool - otherwise they will stick together. I then re-wrap and keep them in the fridge in a tupperware container. I microwave three at a time, in a baggie, for 20-30 seconds, to get them hot and tasty. I could also use a comal, but the microwave is easier. Thanks for the video!
