    I remember when everything was made in USA and everything was the best quality just like those boots, the problem we have today is the crooks in government that have destroyed the American industry it all started with environmental regulations and high taxes and let's not forget the unions ( not all unions) one by one factories started closing down when they closed down the last Levi factory in Texas I remember the feeling of sadness, what we need to do is buy wherever USA made - like zippo lighters or Coleman lanterns or Case and Buck knifes and it's not wasting money because they can coming handy one day but we're helping what's left of the American industry - God bless USA.

      Corporations in the US don't pay taxes now and they've never been taxed very much. Environmental regulations are terrible unless you're one of the tree huggers who want to breathe air and drink water. The RepubliKKKans sent all our industry to China for one reason; GREED. They got to use incredibly cheap Chinese slave labor and at the same time drive down the wages of the working man in America.

    If it wasn't for the wooden shank, I'd like these boots. But, as a retired medical professional, the only time I would need work boots, is if I volunteered to help somewhere. The boots I've bought, and have had made, all have a steel shank, despite being worn for leisure. All my research says, a steel shank is indispensable for proper foot support.

    • @jerm3443
      @jerm3443 2 года назад +2

      It is my understanding that Nicks are made with an oak bark tanned leather shank like many other PNW boots. They offer all the support and more one could ever need, and are equal to or superior to a steel shank. Nicks are a spare no expense kind of company, and if steel shanks were the best option, they would be using them. Hope that’s helpful. I know White’s and I think Wesco’s also use leather shanks. I own a pair of Baker’s x White’s Bounty Hunters on the 55 last. They’re like standing on the rungs of a ladder until they break in. Tons of arch and tons of support.

    Western boots were designed for riding rather than walking. That's why they pull on, why they don't have arch support, and why they have simple, leather soles. Even western boots manufacturers will label a boot a "work boot" if it has a rubber soul. Can't two-step in them either.
    It's a fine boot, but it's not western. More a western-ish boot.

    • @cedm1721

      This packer style has been used for a very long time by workers. Spur shelf and vibram sole is for work, not fashion. Most people working on a horse in ag don’t need to have pull on boots. Unless you’re breaking horses. Plenty of people ride with zip up or lace up boots.

    Western similarity, but not a western boot, in old miner's terms, fools gold. Make a true boot to the task they're selling for, the same for not making a true hiking boot that was passed. Since you're great at making work boot, which are excellent, stick to what makes you the greatest company in the world in my thoughts, and that is making reliable work boots. In the future, if you're going to go out on a limb, then go the distance to create the traditional western and hiker boot. Your customers trust you, you stand by your product, so don't allow someone's crazy idea in your front office cause a negative review about a product that is false claim. Love your work, love your products, my advise go all out or don't do it at all, in truth you'll probably sell 10,000 more just because it's different and came from Nick's Boot.
