    You know, I'd totally watch a grindhouse spinoff that's just Wint and Kidd carrying out hits.

      HAHA I would too, where Bond is treated as some unseen boogeyman. Almost like a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" twist on Bond films.

    • @PaulRietvoorn

      Probably just to make the film shorter. We already know of Tree's death because Saxby later says "We need Tree. Alive." and Bond finds his body. But I also would have liked it better if they didn't remove this scene.

      I think whoever did the editing did not do a very good job. In this film the worst example was were Tiffany disappeared then somehow miraculously Bond finds her next to a pool with Plenty drowned.

    I think it's more sinister not seeing the death, just wondering how these two creepy characters did it is worse, bit like keeping the monster in the dark, it just works far far better without seeing it. I also think they could have included it if they'd casually walked out of the murder scene rather than run.

    It wouldn’t have effected the plot to keep this in, but I can see why this was mainly removed. It was so fake, even by the standards of the early 70s. The gunshot, Tree reacting to being shot in such an unbelievable manner, and if that was supposed to be a headshot, then it certainly doesn’t show it.

  • @jhaychjh
    @jhaychjh 7 месяцев назад

    I saw this first-run in '71 as a kid. There was originally more to this scene. As I recall it, the first suggestion from either Kidd or Wint to Tree for his act, was, "Lose the girls." Something like that. There might have been a reaction shot from Tree. Can't find this ANYWHERE, nor mention of it neither. Completely censored? It's an Orwellian Unscene.

      I have never seen the full film, but a lot of clips from it. At the start James Bond “kills” Blofeld. From that point on I assumed that they were fellow Spectre Agents, completing orders either on their own, or given from another unidentified source, within the ranks of Spectre. Heck, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if M or Q hadn’t put a contract out on Bond, for all the headaches he had given them. 😉😄

    • @anthonybeavan5648
      @anthonybeavan5648 2 года назад +1

      Under orders from either Bert Saxby or Blofeld himself. They were to clean up the diamond smuggling ring members by assassinating them once they'd done their part, in order to remove witnesses and throw the authorities off the scent.
      It was too risky for SPECTRE to leave these smugglers alive in case they were later arrested and confessed under questioning.

      @@Spectrum-Video I've always assumed they worked for Blofeld, to cover his tracks regarding the stolen diamonds. However, I don't recall the film ever making a direct connection between Wint, Kidd and Blofeld, so I suppose it is possible they worked for someone else with an interest in Blofeld's scheme.
