@@HowardDann yes I have a request even though the song is much higher I would still like to hear it on this bassoon , if possible ? Erik Satie's GNOSSIENNE .
This has to be my favourite solo contra tone I've heard. I was wondering, how did you come into this instrument in the UK? And does it have any different bore characteristics from the common German contras, or any differences in how you prepare your reeds? Ie, what makes this sound so different? =D
Hi James, thank you for the lovely comment. My dad was an advocate of the French bassoon so I grew up with it and thought it was totally normal until I went to music college! The wood is different and the reeds are probably a bit brighter in sound. I think it's a beautiful instrument and it needs more exposure.
Hi Matthew. The scale is OK, but you have to warm the instrument up for a long time. A couple of the notes are a little wild but can usually be fixed by adding random fingers!
lovely sounding!
Superb !
Congratulations !
Refreshing.

Fantastic! I love it.
I prefer the sound of the French bassoon and contrabassoon over the Heckel.
