I had what happened at the end happen to me on a first time Modded Island playthrough. Though from my experience it allowed me to "download" my survivor, spawn back into the map as if I died, spawn in my bed then it took a little bit for everything to fully come back into my inventory and hotbar. It was actually Ascended and not Evolved, so idk if they "fixed" on that in Ascended or if being allowed to download survivors during ascension is a Mod, but I do still feel like simply having that for experienced and new players is a good idea.

I'm pretty sure the nuke is supposed to have a launcher and it works sorta like the emp mech and does torpor the same way but I have never really been able to get the kiju modes to work properly on single player maps I'm sure I could use a spawner mod but I'm not interested enough to set up spawners and such
