These little cut up plate rib pieces were my first foray into BBQ beef several years ago, and were perfect for my Weber Smokey Joe. Since then I have graduated to full slabs of plate ribs on my OG Weber kettle. These beef ribs are very forgiving and can take a lot of smoke. So satisfying! I made a slab of beef plate ribs last Christmas and served them with horseradish, like a prime rib.
Bourbon and Nikes (and I heard a Roll Tide in another video)…we could be best friends. But for real, this is my favorite channel. Learned so much…and my Texas family loves you too!! Thank you sir!!
Quite the flex using Weller Special Reserve for a BBQ sauce when your neighbors one state east can't even find Weller SR on a shelf just to drink...lol
@@MeatChurchBBQ Next to impossible to find Weller, Eagle Rare, EH Taylor on a shelf around here. There's plenty of good bourbon to be found, but the ones that used to be $25-$35 and easy to find are now double the price and hard to find.
Not an intended flex, just crappy distribution and the 3 tier system. It is obtainable for MSRP in a lot of places, at the prices by me this recipe would use about $60 in bourbon! Lots of other choices, I am definitely making this sauce, just with a different whiskey!
I’ve actually found that Four Roses is a great low-priced bourbon for cooking. It’s what I’ll use for Old-Fashioneds as well. EH Taylor is my go-to for bourbon, but extremely hard to come by where I live. I luck out occasionally and when I find a bottle, I buy it, just because I never know when the next time I find it will be

Thanks for the video Matt. I'm definitely going to have to try this with the short ribs..
I’d love to see your bourbon collection sometime. Big whiskey guy here. Can you imagine how many people are gonna hit liquor stores asking for Weller SR to make bbq sauce with after this?

I just made Baby back party ribs a few days ago on my new offset smoker and they were the best ribs I have ever made. After watching this I know what is next.
I can vouch for those party pork ribs from the other video he mentioned. Did them on a Traeger Pellet smoker and they were fast, coated on all sides with flavor, and as good as any done as a complete rack. Will never do racks again, lol - so much longer. And yet, as good as those are, I look at these party beef ribs, and suddenly I want to make a detour heading home, lol. Nom noms!

Great video Matt! Might be $11 in Texas, but here in Nova Scotia, quite a bit more for quality. That said, this is how I do my ribs as generally we only get individual beef ribs, not as a 3 or 4. Thanks for sharing.!!!

We're fortunate in DFW that Weller Special Reserve (green label) is easy to find the big 1.75 liter handles at MSRP ($40-50) monthly at the 3 big liquor store chains. I came across a store in Angel Fire, NM that was trying to charge $160 for a WSR handle! 🤯
That works. I went this way to add a little sweetness to go the flavor profile of a KC Burnt End as I mentioned. Make the recipe to your liking. Thanks for being here!
