Everything is going up in price, except your salary.
i'm hourly 😢
But Ukraine and Israel keep getting money
Rent went up 7%. But its okay, my reduction in hours due to budget cuts should help 😞
Other things that are going up:
- Blood pressure
- Stress levels
- Income taxes
- Property taxes
And if that goes up they'll blame further price hikes on higher pay... It's a never ending cycle.. the value of the dollar needs to come back .. we should be carrying coins around instead of dollar bills... Something big has to happen.

I bought my house around that time when we as a one income family were making 45k a year. We did not have issues buying it. We have a 2.5% fixed mortgage. Our mortgage is $900 a month. House valued at $300k+.
From what I understand, a lot of people used jumbo loans/adjustable rates, which not the smartest thing to do. Mortgages go crazy high or low depending on the market. Always buy fixed rate mortgages. I don't have worry about my mortgage going crazy high.
And people still bought

I love how the first thing he said that Americans are sacrificing by not going on vacations. Most people who go on vacation cant afford it and go anyway.
Going on vacation shouldn’t even be a sign of struggling but I guess that it is…since before our time, families could afford vacation, a house, a family of four and food, comfortably on one salary.
A lot of people are trying to enjoy life however they can because they understand they can’t ever afford a house or anything economically prospering. It’s unattainable. However vacation, is somewhat attainable. If they had no options at all for enjoyment of life, we might see more extreme examples of disparity resulting in loss of life or unaliving
Vacations are overrated. 😮

Stop buying houses for 100k+ more than their worth and the housing market would not only still be affordable, but you'd be able to afford the payments. The buyers are just as guilty as the sellers for literally buying more into this crap.

Dear all media and economists, stop talking about the possibility of an interest rate reduction. The issue of rising housing costs is a culmination of problems outside the current Fed interest rate. This country has historically maintained an interest rate above 0% and by keeping it at 0 for so long has been problematic. Let's focus on the real culprits of the affordability crisis- Wall St. firms/institutional investors, short-term rental speculation, Real Page helping to collude pricing with corporate landlords (antitrust issues), limited competition in our capitalist market because of corporates constantly buying out new challengers, corporate greed shown through shrinkflation and rising prices that exceed inflation, rising costs of theft costing big-box retailers hundreds of millions resulting in even higher prices and store closures (get rid of cashless bail and make "low-value" theft a felony again) and etc. Work on all the aforementioned issues so Americans can afford to live again.
agreed.... Rates are only cut when economy is in bad shape. This means massive unemployment and loan defaults. Be careful what you wish for....
All these factors, and the mandatory exorbitant HOA fees for "affordable" housing which simply ruins the purchase
EDIT: all the factors listed in the comments below are also correct, there are a lot of artificial hurdles placed on us to prevent people from buying and keep them renting instead. Same with things like technology, games, etc. Businesses want consistent payments flowing in, no more of the good old days.
No, the issue is that contractors are only building luxury homes (single family, condos, townhomes). Which is why houses are so expensive. They need to start building regular traditional similar houses from the 70' and 80's, which are cheaper and honestly better looking. They look more like a home. I honestly hate these new build houses. I'm so glad we bought a colonial house.
The real culprit is actually many land use policies that have been creating this shortage of housing for decades.
1. Zoning. Much of the land and airspace zoned for commercial could have been used for housing. Mix use development is normal until zoning came about. Think apartments on top and shops and restaurants at the bottom, offices on the second floor. Today, only a small fraction of the cities can do this type of development (mostly grandfathered in from before ww2). These places are very highly sought because of their convenience.
2. Most of the area in North American cities are zoned for single family home. That means its harder to create duplexes, triplexes, bigger houses for big families, townhouses, boarding houses, etc etc. Its very natural for houses to start as single family homes and expand little by little over the years. This type of transition is completely stopped by zoning laws.
3. Parking requirements. Even in places where density is allowed and makes economic sense, the height of buildings is artificially constrained by parking requirements. Instead of 100 apartments without parking that would be ideal next to colleges, hospitals, train stations, developers are forced to build 50 units with 50 parking spots.
4. City Boundaries. In an effort to preserve nature, many cities restrict development of the land area. So no new houses can be built beyond that .
5. Other restrictions - Height restrictions, set backs, minimum lot sizes, floor area ratios.
6. Huge public policies that are car centric - highways, parking lots, etc. Many many dense communities all over were destroyed by the construction of highways. Even today, many communities still face destruction for highway expansion (but no good alternative as compensation).
@@Basta11 only 5% of American land is developed. Some of these cities are actually deserted or have really low population. If you want to a house, go buy one there.

And the prices aren’t going down.
The inventory is very less.
The demand for housing is increasing day by day.
Back before 2008, a friend and I purchased lots for sale and contracted a builder to build 3 bdr with garage homes on them. When they were finished, we sold the homes and split the profits, as the new home sold for much more than the money involved. But one day we found a lot and checked into it. It was a "substandard" sized lot, so we could not build on it. We could have done a smaller house, or even a two story with a smaller footprint, but they said no. Zoning tells us how big a lot must be in order to build. It also dictates the setbacks from the property joining it and other requirements. We have a ton of these substandard lots in America, just basically sitting empty, with maybe a shed or something on it, as it can't be used for anything else due to zoning. They need to change zoning so a small house can be built on these properties. Many owners would love to sell them as they are of no use to them, and they need the money.
"Zoning" is an immoral scam, run by the tyrants at city hall purely to benefit themselves and their relatives/donors/cronies. Revolt and end all zoning. If your NEIGHBOR does not have property rights, then you will never have liberty. You are a slave.

The number of people who tell me they live in their car that I meet amazes me. Its crazy out here!
New flash, 9 out 10 Americans are living beyond their means using way too much credit
AND HOME ARE STILL SELLING!
Only when we all spend what we can actually afford … will houses prices go down. You cut rates… they are going to skyrocket. It won’t be good.
Realistically probably more than half. Renting is no better. You have to live somewhere.
I live in a van down by the river
If you bought the home own your mistake. Mathematically you can’t get approved for a mortgage unless you can approve on the basis of income. What you buy after that point like cars, vacations on credit, financing home improvement projects are 100% your fault if you can no longer afford them.
In my area people are buying 2 million dollar homes with a 14k mortgage, that's totally insane, in my opinion, even with a high income salary, that's just too much
House payments are suppose to be a struggle unless you are really really well off and pay cash. When you think of it, any kind of monthly payment is a struggle.
The blessings of God Cary no sorrow
Not if you get payments that are a very small % of your income. It’s not a struggle for everyone but we did sacrifice. Living in an old 1982 3 bedroom house that still needs work making over $200k per year.
I never struggled making a mortgage payment working a retail job I bought what I could afford not what the bank or realtor thought I could afford
Half of American mortgagers, or half of all Americans?
Insurance is a nightmare on top of house payments and utilities. Food.
Insurance companies are legal crooks. Can’t afford insurance and taxes.
Insurance and taxes -I'm also noticing places with high hoas aren't selling as fast either.
Cutting interest rates will only make the housing problem worse.
Should be raising rates !
Exactly. I know a lot of friends are on the sideline. As soon as rate drops to 3% again if ever. They will be making offers. Bam feeding frenzy again.
@@jml9550 rates will not be 3% again in our lifetime!
@@paule8536 I need that crystal ball of yours.
We go through this stuff every decade. We stay there, then we get out. Not much we can do.
I don't spend any money on housing now.. been living homeless in car you do what you need to survive.. it's getting considerably worse, for people i see it daily . it's not just housing. Everything went up considerably. What do you expect to happen? Main cause greed and inflation. I have a perfect driving record but my insurance went up by over 30% now almost $1000 for six months. How crazy is that one and minimum insurance it's like 800. per 6 months... used to be about 550 per 6 months for a minimum insurance... don't get me started on food and fuel ,, fuel is almost the third highest in this country.. but yeah things are going to collapse eventually you watch.. me I have no debt at all. I don't have credit cards never had one in my life , I don't need that never did.. would be nice to have the help but you're just temporarily pushing your debt further and further into the future .. cut that credit card up.. people keep borrowing money they don't have not a good idea..
What are you doing on the internet while living in a car?! I would be out busting my ___ for 18 hours a day at physical WORK.
My biggest expense is my property taxes 2,900 sq ft house in NJ. taxes are $12k a year. Ana that is cheap here. Other pay $18k for the same size house in different cities.
Recent buyers are struggling…stop buying overpriced homes. Especially if it’s a struggle to pay for it, you really can’t afford it. The American dream turning into a nightmare because people won’t think it through.
Ah, the modern middle-class ritual - buying the latest smartphone they absolutely don't need with money they don't have, to impress people they don't even like. It's a sacred tradition, after all. Why keep a perfectly good phone when you can plunge into financial despair for a camera with two more megapixels? And let's not forget the daily homage to the temple of overpriced coffee, Starbucks. Because, obviously, nothing says "financially savvy" quite like a $5 latte that costs pennies to make. Then, as the end of the month approaches, they partake in the most hallowed of ceremonies: lamenting their inability to pay rent or save money. It's a cycle of fiscal responsibility as ancient and revered as time itself.
Skipping vacations is a sacrifice? 😅
I need a vacation from my vacation!😮
They’re struggling because of the thugs in charge. We need a whole new crew with morals ! 😮
also CBS: "its Trumps Fault!!"
I'm so glad I don't have bill payments
The pros of being homeless, huh? 😂
Let’s go brandon
How many in Florida? With insurance costs?
Large problem is Counties upinng tax rates at 238% just now after 30% 3 yrs. 3 yrs from now just sign the deed to the city. OUCH!
What comes to mind is the The Doors lyric… This is the end…
People Are Strange...
My only friend, the end
Our corporatist social & economic dystopia here in the USA has been 40-50 years in the making. Enjoy.
Yep. Democracy was bought and paid for a long time ago.
Good now time to become a minimalist except for the 3000 sq ft house for family of 3.
Most are driving a car that they can’t afford !
No freaking way. Now you'll are figuring it out?!
WEF: you’ll own nothing and be happy about it…😖

Can you imagine watching this video as a RealPage employee and thinking to yourself "Yay, I caused those rent prices to go up by price fixing!"
Thank god I brought in 2020 best decision of my life
The interest rate is unchanged. Kicking the can down the road until 2025!
Thats why I am not buying a home yet.
They still have 30% or more in equity. So if times get tough, they can refi or sell.
The odds of a rate cut in June are remote at best.
Good most of them voted for this 😂😂😂
Only half?
The other half are familys on OnlyFans
It’s actually way less…..vast majority of homes are paid off. So the remaining, let’s say 15%, have mortgages. In the video they are saying half or struggling to pay theirs so that only means about 6 to 7% of houses on the market have people who are struggling to pay. It’s not what it seems
@@chiquita683 What's their @?
You people worried about rates and not about the whole total amount. People are crazy looking at 500k home but earn less then 80k a year
But but but Binden said our economy is doing good tho!!! He always tells the truth!
How is this possible with record low interest rates that the vast majority of homeowners have?
Yay Bidenomics, good FUCKING job 🖕🏼Raise the interest rates higher! Let 10 million more immigrants in the country! Raise inflation even more! Raise gas prices even more! Stop 🛑 the Oil field! Go on now, if you’re going to fuck it up fuck it up good!!!
We’re in an economy of Shrinkflation on Inflation, on top of Taxation, on top of Skimpflation on top of Tipflation, on top of Wage Stagnation.
Ppl need to change their vocabulary of wanting a ‘ Living Wage ‘ to a ‘ SAVING WAGE’ we are in fact living, going to work for 💩 pay.
Americans are willing to work for shit pay. That’s why they’re paid shit, companies CANNOT pay what no one not accept, PERIOD
Physical slavery required people to be housed and fed. Economic slavery requires people to house and feed themselves.
Michael Bordenero talks about it in his videos. People are starting to run out of money to afford property taxes, insurance, cars, and other goods
