    One of the things that makes your videos stand out is giving sets and reps goals for each progression. That is such an important point that most channels leave out! Saying "when you're good at this exercise move on" isn't enough. What is "good"? Thank you so much for your help! Greetings from Brazil!

    Hi Dan. Just a quick message to say that with the advice you give in this tutorial I have literally just achieved 5 free standing handstands this afternoon whilst practicing donkey kicks, each for a 12 second hold. A few months ago I couldn't even hold the handstand against a wall. So for anyone that doubts it, this absolutely works as long as you put the time and effort in. Thank you Dan for allowing me to achieve a long term goal and now its onto the 5 x 30 sec holds. Merry Christmas.

    I have the fear of falling over. I know it doesn't hurt much (if not at all) if you fall on your back because I've already experienced it. I stopped training on handstands for a while but when I got back, the fear of falling over intensified! Even my body is rejecting the attempts now. I definitely have no fear if I do handstands facing away from the wall but on freestanding, I can't even bring 1 foot high/straight enough.

    Very useful video. Does a head placement affect your stability? I think you are more stable when your head is in line with your body and not protruding :) I am saying this because I tend to look forward when doing free handstand. How do you recover your body starts falling not over your head but on the other side?

    Handstand is one of my most neglected exercises due reduced space and the fear to fall against any pointed piece of furniture. I've started working it out a few days ago. I can hold more than a minute a handstand facing the wall without any drama, so i think its time to keep moving.
    I wanted to ask you about how much time took you to achieve a solid free handstand
    Greetins from Spain ;)

    When I'm doing handstand on the wall right, either facing the wall or the other way, but as I start holding the handstand on the wall my shoulders should be pushing out I mean pushing upwards my entire body or don't do that just hold the hand stand but don't flex out/push upwards my body with shoulders and hold the hand stand ? I hope you understand my question ? let me know if I need to be more specific thanks .

    I know this is an older video but if I could get a reply that'd be amazing. in your tutorial you recommend 5x30s holds before moving on. this is fairly easy for me with good form. a lot of other tutorials recommend 60s solid holds. I can barely get 60s while maintaining good form. how important is it to get to 60s in your opinion? is it a bit overkill depending on your goals? I've went back to the wall to work on foundational strength for HS to break plateaus and was wondering how much time I should really spend on getting 60s wall holds. thanks Dan!!

    • @DanJeongg
      @DanJeongg  8 лет назад

      +jacqueslaframboise84 60s is not needed. Practice freestanding HS along with wall handstand together. You should achieve 60 eventually, but you can definitely start to practice HS without wall

    Hi, thanks a lot for your video, i have a question: you have to contract your abdominal muscles right? The thing is i cant contract them when im straight in the handstand, since they are used for the flexion, if you know what i mean... How do you contract them?

    • @DanJeongg
      @DanJeongg  10 лет назад +2

      Fresk Ology I don't really worry about my abs during handstand. I try to squeeze my butt, thighs, and try to maintain posterior pelvic tilt. The rest comes naturally

    어깨가 열린다는게 정확히 어떤 의미인지 잘 모르겠네요.
    그리고 봉을 가지고 하는 어깨 스트레칭이요.

      닫힌 어깨랑 비교해보면 닫힌어깨는 어깨와 몸통에 각도가 져있는데 열린어깨는 몸통과 팔이 수직입니다.
      어깨 스트레칭은 봉을 더 넓게 잡아서 하시면 됩니다

    I have no fear, but in the last 2 weeks i havent improved anything and im loosing my motivation because of this, do you have some additional tip? I usually fail in the transition from feet in the floor to handstand, because of the movement energy.

      전신운동입니다. 근데 정적 운동이라 근육 크게 키우는 운동은 아닙니다. 하지만 맨몸운동의 기본이라 무조건 배워야 하는 스킬입니다

    Hi Dan. Now up to being able to hold a 30 second handstand, in part with your advice here, so thanks for that. (I posted below as HKLegends 5 months ago. Since then, I'm down to 10 attempts at kicking up, but holding at least 5 to 6 handstands for 20 - 30 secs as opposed to 50 kick ups for the same number of holds and for less time. Here's a video with my progress: ruclips.net/video/dd0XizORzFk/видео.html I've also started a fitness blog, and am covering the other steps I've taken to learning this move if anyone's interested, as I'm trying to put together as much detail as possible - the stuff I wish I knew long ago, at www.trainyourselffit.com and at my youtube channel.
