There was no crime. Fani got a great deal for the state by hiring Wade at a much reduced consulting fee compared to what he would charge in private practice. There is no conflict of interest because they are on the same side of the case. They did not ask for reimbursement for non-work-related travel but paid it themselves. She tried to hire several people who declined due to the well-known potential for threats from Trump's base and finally hired a person who was qualified and available. That is not a crime.

Willis created a financial conflict of interest for herself when she hired Wade. It was now in her financial and personal interest to expand the number of defendants and add new charges to justify hiring Wade and paying him so much money. The entire case against Trump may have been influenced by her desire to enrich Wade and upgrade her lifestyle.

The amount Atty Nathan Wade was paid over several years is the same per hour as the other attorneys who were hired to assist in the case. He just worked more hours, but it still doesn't add up to full-time work. The total he received over approximately 2 years is much less than his full-time pay would have been if he were still in private practice, so the DA's office got a bargain. Once the money is paid, either as a salary or as a consulting fee, it is no longer government funds. The state government does not control the use of private funds, as long as it is not used in a crime and as long as the parties don't request that the state reimburse them for non-state activities. The indictments in the RICO case were brought by a grand jury and should not be affected even if there were some personal or financial impropriety between prosecutors. There is no conflict of interest in the case because they are on the same side. Fani Willis has been a Georgia lawyer for decades and knows many Georgia lawyers and probably has many friends in the profession. To expect her to avoid hiring an individual who is right for the job simply because of a friendship is ridiculous, especially after others turned down the opportunity because of Trump's consistent practice of encouraging his base to threaten or attack people. This is yet another frivolous motion by a Trump co-conspirator and by Trump.
