    2 years of monitoring. When the stolen data is used in 4 years, the cost of monitoring would have shifted to the persons, and the credit reporting agencies would have profited from the "service." Congress should mandate the CR bureaus email the person when the CRB is used to grant credit at NO cost to the person. End the cycle of $$ stealing. Except, congress in their pocket and lobbyists will continue business as usual

    There should be public alarm, if there is sensitive information out there and the city is doing nothing to stop it. The expert should be covered under the good samaritan laws for telling law enforcement that he found their stolen information online. He was not seeking to profit from the information in any way.

    It is not illegal to download leaked data. If you download it you will commit a crime if you DISTEIBUTE it. There are laws about this. The data is not illegal nor is obtaining it. Or talking about it. Unless you distribute the specifics of things like bank acc info. This guy basically got arrested over Metadata.

    If the city or police department was negligent, the only thing they would have done when he reported the breach was to bury it and cover up. Going to the media was the only way to ensure that the breach was acknowledged and addressed.

    This restraining order is as about a dumb as the one where a state Missouri accused reporter of hacking when told them the states site has security flaw. Seems city Columbus about accusing this guy of same thing. City Columbus is liable for this breach. The ship has sailed on this already.

    Look at the downloaded data, and look for the judges family member, or someone the judge "did a favor for" in the past. and look and see if there may be a reason the judge doesn't want the info being out in the public. It would not surprise me if the Judge is trying to cover up their criminal history or involvement in it.

    If the federal government or a corporation loses your data gets hacked that data stolen no matter what they are not responsible no accountability no consequences no jail no charges nothing. All they have to do is pay for your free credit monitoring, and if you up for this free credit monitoring you’re signing up through a third-party which is more than likely the corporation that “lost” your data or person information in the first place.
