And with all the diseases going around hand washing is first on my list. I use rubber gloves ❤ they become expensive Because I use so many . Good old soap and water is really good. You actually do put milk in meatballs and meatloaf (13 year stay at home/homeschool mama here and I cook 100% from scratch 3 meals a day for my family of 4). She's definitely doing it wrong though... the only thing she's tripling is the meat! That recipe once tripled would require 12 eggs and an entire cup of milk! These are going to be some bland meatballs! And actually for a tripled recipe it would require probably 12 cloves of garlic (once fresh garlic cooks a lot of the flavor disappears). I'm American, but my dad's family is Swedish, so I am criticizing this 'recipe' so hard, and it is a failure on all levels! Swedish meatballs do not have garlic, oregano, or parmesan in them! Heavy cream yes, but not milk. These are Italian meatballs if anything, but crappy ones. I'm pretty sure the Italians would not claim them either! They'd go great on a Spaghetti Table! She also should have just baked the meatballs, that's what we always do when we make a huge batch of Swedish meatballs, it's so much simpler. And literally, the only thing Swedish about her entire "Swedish" meal was the meatballs, which still weren't Swedish. Nothing else. Because nobody is eating the pickled herring!
Maybe I was lucky to have my grandma teach me how to cook and prepare your area. I find it so sad how people genuinely don’t know, or care, how to cook or bake. You can make so many amazing things for your family, and it can even help you. I know I feel good when I fill my families bellies, but they are smiling and silent while doing it 😅😊
I didn’t have a grandma or mom that taught me how to cook or food safety, my dad is amazing on the grill/smoker and taught me that but my maternal grandma doesn’t cook so my mom never learned however she knows basic food safety and a few meals she is comfortable with . However I’ve always loved to cook and have since I was 8. I guess it’s not for everyone but basic food safety should be for everyone. Now I get to teach my mom and daughter how to cook
I moved out at 16, not able to even cook ramen noodles. I moved in with my boyfriend/ now husband at 17 and through sweat, tears, A LOT of burnt food, and throwing of kitchen items 😅 🙃 😄 I taught myself how to cook. And YES Alicia there is no shame in following a recipe to a T UNTIL you are comfortable

I highly suspect those meatballs were raw on the inside as they are huge. She doesn't seem to know the basics of meal preparation which is why she butchers around the world dishes. She is offending people left, right and centre. She made the food from my country New Zealand but didn't post it. I saw the menu list of what she made and I could tell that she didn't put any thought into it.😊
I was on MasterChef and even made meatballs for Gordon Ramsay-- milk in meatballs is usually done if someone is using all beef in their meatballs to help keep them from turning rock hard. Usually, the breadcrumbs would be soaked in the milk though. If you use a combo of pork/beef then the extra fat usually will be enough that you can skip adding any milk or breadcrumbs. Parm is necessary thou :) Also--- NEVER too much garlic. Never. :)
My husbands family is half Swedish. We’ve made hundreds of meatballs every year for our Christmas Eve smorgasbord. Same recipe passed down for generations. Just put them on cookie sheets and bake them. Also, wear disposable gloves while mixing and handling them!
That’s what I was just telling my hubby. I’ve made Swedish meatballs plenty of times and I have always baked them. I’ve also never have put milk or cheese in them either.
@@simbamufasa This is the original 100+ year old recipe- It was around WWI. 1/2 lb ground beef 1/4 lb veal 1/4 lb ground pork Or 1/2 lb ground beef 1/2 lb ground pork 1/2 c bread crumbs 3/4-1 c milk 1 egg 3 TBS finely chopped onion 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp white pepper (must be white pepper) Soak bread in milk. Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Shape into small balls (size of a ping pong ball). Bake at 350 F for 40-45 minutes on a sheet pan lightly oiled. Turning several times while cooking. Each generation has changed and adjusted the seasonings and cooking time. But that is the original recipe. We don’t use veal because it’s not available and very expensive. Every year, before we form the balls, we cook a flattened one in a pan on the range and try it and adjust the seasonings before making the rest.
A fun way when making meatballs is to first put them in the oven and once they are done, sear them on a hot pan with only a little butter. You get a nice crisp edge. Then, when you take a bite into the meatball you get that crispy and yet juicy bite.

As for the milk: it works when you take your bread crumbs and soak them in the milk separately to soften them up and then (and only then) mix it with the meat

As someone in the culinary industry, I'm literally pissing myself laughing. OMG Josh, you're killing me. I live alone and cook for myself, and I wash my hands like about to go in to surgery. LMAO, she is so disgusting. Have you ever seen anyone of these people EAT the food? Damn, train wreck meatballs called, they don't want you to touch them anymore!
I highly suspect those meatballs were raw on the inside as they are huge. She doesn't seem to know the basics of meal preparation which is why she butchers around the world dishes. She is offending people left, right and centre. She made the food from my country New Zealand but didn't post it. I saw the menu list of what she made and I could tell that she didn't put any thought into it.😊

I was on MasterChef and even made meatballs for Gordon Ramsay-- milk in meatballs is usually done if someone is using all beef in their meatballs to help keep them from turning rock hard. Usually, the breadcrumbs would be soaked in the milk though. If you use a combo of pork/beef then the extra fat usually will be enough that you can skip adding any milk or breadcrumbs. Parm is necessary thou :) Also--- NEVER too much garlic. Never. :)

My husbands family is half Swedish. We’ve made hundreds of meatballs every year for our Christmas Eve smorgasbord. Same recipe passed down for generations. Just put them on cookie sheets and bake them. Also, wear disposable gloves while mixing and handling them!

1/2 lb ground beef
1/4 lb veal
1/4 lb ground pork
Or
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 c bread crumbs
3/4-1 c milk
1 egg
3 TBS finely chopped onion
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper (must be white pepper)
Soak bread in milk. Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
Shape into small balls (size of a ping pong ball). Bake at 350 F for 40-45 minutes on a sheet pan lightly oiled. Turning several times while cooking.
Each generation has changed and adjusted the seasonings and cooking time. But that is the original recipe. We don’t use veal because it’s not available and very expensive. Every year, before we form the balls, we cook a flattened one in a pan on the range and try it and adjust the seasonings before making the rest.

A fun way when making meatballs is to first put them in the oven and once they are done, sear them on a hot pan with only a little butter. You get a nice crisp edge. Then, when you take a bite into the meatball you get that crispy and yet juicy bite.

We use it where I am from, which is the deep deep south of Florida with things like i.e. whenever someone asks if you want creamer in your coffee and you only want a little bit you'd say "Just a dollop please"
