  • The Life Cycle of a Frog
Metamorphosis is a biological process in which a frog physically develops from a small tadpole into an adult frog.
This process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form is termed as the life cycle of a Frog and involves four distinct stages-
    Egg, Tadpole, Froglet and Adult.
During the process the frog experiences changes in the internal systems and organs.
    1) The female frog lays thousands of eggs in the water which in turn gets fertilized and hatch into tadpoles.
    2) The tadpole is the second phase of a frog’s life cycle- The tadpole does not look exactly like a frog, but rather like a fish. It breathes using gills and moves like a fish. At this stage, the tadpole develops gills which help them breathe underwater . It also begins to develop lungs at this stage which enables them to breathe out of water when it becomes a frog.
    3) The third stage is Froglet. At this stage it looks like a young frog that can also float above the water and breathe due to the developed lungs.
    4) The adult frog is the fourth and final stage of life cycle of a frog. Now it is perfectly fit to leave the water and live on the land, It’s tail disappears completely and it starts feeding on insects instead of greens.
