If I may make a suggestion, try singing Move Along by All American Rejects. This channel has a karaoke track for you to practice with and it's a great song in my opinion. It keeps you fairly busy as far as vocals are concerned and there isn't much in terms of long awkward silences. I'm doing an open mic event tonight and part of the reason why I told my vocal coach I refuse to do this song is because of the instrumental. It's a bit easier if you have a live band to jam with but when you only have a backing track it's awkward. That's also why I'm learning guitar and bass.
How about taking the solo time to walk back to your seat, chug the rest of your beer, then walk back on stage. Make sure to keep the mic on you, otherwise they’ll think you’re done.
I think the stems were acquired and vocals were muted and the track was just bounced with no vox. I bought the “killer queen” by Queen stems so I know it’s a thing
