There's a documentary version of this song also that shows them actually writing the song together etc. And it is really great live at Wembley in 1986--the concert opener.
Reinholt Mac you can see trying to do the recording of one vision behind the recording deck had such respect for the band and especially for Freddie he came overseas to Freddie's funeral that says it all
Originally written by Roger, as partially inspired by MLK Jrs I Have a Dream Speech. But when they got in the studio, it was changed a lot (as Roger said, “that rotter Freddie got ahold of it”! Lol). The live version from the ‘86 Wembley concert is great.
They did bicker, but they were family and extremely close for the 20 years that they were together. And devastated when Freddie got sick after which they did everything possible to make it possible for Freddie to keep recording..... even after he was too sick to record videos. John .... as the quiet introvert.... was particularly close to Freddie who encouraged him always when he had doubts and anxiety. John was so devastated by Freddie's death that he quit music completely. To John, Queen was no longer Queen without Freddie.... So... even though they had their spats, just like family they trusted, loved and supported each other..... always.
If you like seeing all the behind the scenes in the studio of them putting this song together, there is a 20 minute One Vision documentary. This song was inspired by MLKJr I love Roger making all the faces at the camera. He’s the funny one
Hehe Roger is so funny 😂 ... In the Making of One Vision he said that his lyrics got changed and when asked who changed them he stated: THAT ROTTER FREDDIE! 😂😂 ...
My favorite video of all time, it's so fun to have a piece of them in the studio, parts of the clip were taken from the One Vision mini documentary, it's really worth watching, even if it's not for a reaction, I highly recommend it
Thank you so much for this reaction! You made me blush... 😊 FYI, I'm pronounced Gillie with a soft G - like Jillie... I love the way you caught on to the way the lads had so much fun as they finalised the production of what originated as Roger's song about Martin Luther King Jr... before Freddie got his hands on it... over an extended period. You'll probably have noticed the number of different outfits the boys appeared in. The fried chicken ending was left in as a bit of fun, and came from when they were rehearsing, and Freddie got hungry and started improvising and ad-libbing random words, including items from all the takeaway (takeout) menus that were lying around... among other things. As I see others have already mentioned. It's a natural progression to move on to the 20 minute 'One vision Documentary', which gives a far more detailed explanation of how they went about finalising the sound - and lyrics - of the song, and includes brief interviews with the boys. Thanks again! 😘
Queen was so diverse that they can mix rock with a waltz. Check out the studio version of the Millionaire Waltz and you'll be surprised how good it is.
If you check out the making of video, make sure it's the full 20 min video, not the 10 min one that misses out a lot. Also keep an ear out for Freddie and his improvised joke lyrics lol.
My favorite version of "One Vision" is live from Wembley, 1986. - ruclips.net/video/lgwfMF5kSJ0/видео.html There is also a documentary on the making of "One Vision" -ruclips.net/video/XssPitrqOXM/видео.html. This video was taped in Queen Recording studio in Montreux, Switzerland. It shows the band working to actually create the song. (FYI- Roger admitted that since they knew they were on camera, they were on their best behavior. So it is not an accurate depiction of what happened in the studio. On a typical day in the studio, there might be more heated "discussions" as they fight to create the best version of the song. They were 4 men with 4 different opinions,) You might notice that they recorded a lot of lyrics that never made it into the mix. That was very common. The mixing of the recorded tracks was just as important as composing the song. Other things you might notice in this video are: 1. Brian's Clog shoes. According to his wife Anita, Brian loves wearing his clogs (she says he even has Blue Suede Clogs.). Apparently, Brian always wears clogs except on stage when he wears his Addidas trainers. 2. If you look quick, you can see Brian's pick in action. He always uses an old sixpence coin as his pick. Sixpence coins are no longer used in Britain but Brian has been able to find bags of them at aniique stores so has has plenty. Originally, he used bendy picks because he thought it was good for speed but later discovered he preferred a hard, rigid pick so he could feel the strings. Apparently, the British sixpence was the perfect pick for him. 3. The man sitting in front of the control table is Mack (Reinhold Mack), their producer/engineer. He is German. Mack and the band were very close. Freddie and John were godfathers to Mack's 3rd son, Freddie Mack. (Mack was referenced in the song "Dragon Arrack" - "gonna use my stack/it's gotta be Mack".] 4. The other man sitting at the table was Freddie's partner, Jim Hutton. ************************* Also, I want to add a video to your long list to review. I know that you have already reacted to the Montreal live version of "Somebody To Love" but you really need to also watch the official studio video of "Somebody to Love". - ruclips.net/video/kijpcUv-b8M/видео.html The arrangement they used for the studio recording showcases much more of the Queen's classic backup vocals combining Roger, Brian, and Freddie, which is an amazingly beautiful blend. The combination of their three voices together produced the unique Queen sound. It is still an amazing song whether you listen to the studio version or the group performing it live (each live performance was different from the other live performances). They had to alter the arrangement of the song from the recorded and released version to perform it live. Freddie was an exceptional vocalist but even he could not sing both lead and backup vocals simultaneously.
I knew Queen when they started out in the early 70s but wasn't focused into them until The Highlander movie and Flash in the 80s and then I went back and 'rediscovered' them and listen to them daily. I still remember Live Aid on TV and how great they were. I'm 75, by the way. Never too old.
Coach ..wise words..they had differences...but even then it was mostly amicable....the long version of this..Queen Danka One Vision High Quality 1986 (4K-60HPS)....amazing quality and you get to see them composing the song....with Freddie in charge, as usual😁...stick it in your back pocket for another time🤩
Part of the tension was that the person who brought the song to the band, received the credit as writer, and the commission on resulting sales. John shared credit with Freddie on one of the songs that Freddie had helped him develop, but the that was not the norm. They only shared credit as Queen after Freddie got ill and wanted it shared. That equalized their incomes and reduced that tension that pitted them against each other financially.
My 4 yr old grandson loves Queen. I went to see Queen and Adam this past fall because I wanted to see Brian and Roger live. When I got back home my grandson asked me if I saw them sing We Will Rock You. He's taught his whole preschool the song. His teacher has limited him to only singing it during lunch and recess. I loved seeing all the generations at the show. A very talented band of musicians, songwriters and singers.
The fried chicken was a nod to their work in the studio writing it, many hours together disagreeing and changes to make the lyrics fit. At one point Freddie was just throwing out random words from a Chinese takeout menu laying around. I've seen several people comment about the making of this song that's a good suggestion and the live at Wembley version shows you all the work that goes into bringing a Queen concert to life, it's a hopping crowd as it was the opening song you can actually feel the excitement of the crowd. Amazing crowd, Amazing Queen 👑
As a unit, I find Queen ,in their time, to have given posterity the best of creativity, musicianship and entertainment. There's no match I've visited from then, or since, even thru to these days in 2023. 'Fighting' seems to have been a marketing ploy used then . . . and now. Each musician was a thinker, confident and able to debate a point with words and attitude. . . while giving fans unique products.
Hi folks! Back in '88, Queen put out a 3 part VHS series called "The Magic Years." Part 3 of the series was largely the recording of this song. They were famous for fretting over one note, and boy, it showed in that video. But to watch it, it's like they just came in, laid it down and had tea. You just never knew what to expect from them. And in that vein, I eagerly await you advancing to the "Jazz" album and the opener, a Hebrew banger called "Mustapha". Yep, I love that band. Love you guys!
Love ONE VISION!! Gotta see it live as the concert opener for Wembley 1986. After the opening, it transitions right into TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN .. crowd goes wild! Very exciting!! 🍗🍗
Please watch the documentary on the making of this song. Freddie wanted to get everyone in the studio to write a song together. It’s not a long video but very entertaining. I don’t think there is a band worth their salt that doesn’t argue. You can’t put 4 creative geniuses together and not have arguments. The important thing is it never affected their relationships. Freddie was the one that navigated these situations. Many assume he would have been the tough one to work with but he always diffused these situations.
Roger said it was usually him and Brian going head to head and it was Freddie who was the peacemaker. You can't put four creative geniuses in the same studio and not get some friction. That's how great creation works.
You really need to watch the documentary version of the making of this song. It gives great insight to how they work together in the studio and it’s funny too.
BTW it was their first manager that was actually the one driving a wedge between Freddie and the others. Eventually Freddie saw through it and they got back together again. The Movie is actually quite good.
Superb reaction, you are both a breath of fresh air and i love it when you enjoy my favourite band Queen. You should check out The Prophet's Song written by Brian May or The Milllionaire Waltz written by Freddie Mercury, both astounding.Keep up the good work guys, you are both fab.
Wow 😅 beautiful sweet Freddie 😍 liked subscribed 🎉 please react to the documentary of the making of this song, it's a wonderful insight to how this talented people made such great music 🎵❤❤❤
John, Roger and Brian talking about making One Vision ... and why they put "Fried Chicken" at the end ... Just hilarious 😂 ruclips.net/video/2wmk_C6fzOo/видео.htmlsi=03CaMidfOGv4gjQJ
quite interesting really cause a kind of magic and one vision was 1 song written by roger taylor then mostly freddie helped spilt it into 2 songs for the album, also youll notice john and freddie swap tops many many times during the video and john gets to drum a little too
Thank you reacting to this great reaction as always ❤ you should watch the documentary of them writing the song together the chief mouse version is the best one if you do keep a listen out for Freddie changing the words 😂😂
This song was used for the movie Iron Eagle and was released as a single in 1985 before being put out on the A Kind Of Magic album in 1986. Another great song from that album is Gimme The Prize (Kurgan's Theme) in which Freddie's vocals are pushed to their limit which was due to Brian wanting Freddie to hit a higher note which caused a bit of friction as Freddie said that he can only go so high. Great song and hope you can react to it.
If you get the videos from the Queen Official RUclips channel, you don't have to pause. Queen loves to have their videos shared.... it brings in more fans. They won't block you....
This song was originally called "A kind of Vision" by Roger, sparse lyrics of "One Vision" with the tune to "A kind of Magic", Freddie got hold of it and here we are.
Watch the one vision documentary. You will see first row how they worked together. It’s in my opinion the mist important video to apreciate their greatness
There's a longer version on Queen Channel about 20 minutes or so, talking about how Roger came up with the initial lyrics, which some were charged in order for Freddie too sing it. Also Behind The Rhapsody or possibly Inside, both Sir Brian and Roger talk you through how Freddie came up with the concept of the song, how it was recorded etc, it almost had a different name. Mongolian Rhapsody, written on paper from a British Airline and sold in September for around a million and half pounds after all fees etc were added, the bracelet he wore in the video went for more than half a million
@@CoachCastTV there's a video online about the auction which was shown on Sky Arts channel I think last weekend, but I attended the exhibition in London in August and September as some 30,000 items over 1500 lots were sold for charity
Okay coach your talking to me, lol. I"m that guy, I'm nearly 70 years old and like what I like. If a song was recorded after 1985, I probably don't know it. I'm just kidding. Classic Rock guy here. Queen is my favorite band, and I enjoy watching others experience Queen. The greatness of Freddie, Roger, Brian, and John. The band is finally getting the recognition they deserve. Believe it or not, Queen did not get very good reviews back in the 70's and 80's. People did not get. Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kiss, Rainbow ruled the rock music world. These guys had a huge sense of humor. Check out "I want to Break free" Hilarious!! That song got them band from MTV and they were done in the USA. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas to you and family.
LOL. Thanks so much. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas also! And yes, I can attest that in the US back in the 80s, Queen wasn't on many people's radar around our age at the time (high school to college age), at least not in our social circles. Glad to see the world taking more notice of their brilliance!
Another great reaction, thank you. Personally, i prefer the wembley 86 live version that they opened the show with, always think the live versions add that bit extra, especially with a band like queen who were just so good live.
Thanks! Yes, we considered the live as well. We have done very few studio compared to the number of live so we went with that one for this, but you cannot really go wrong with this band. LOL
It is just great to see how reactionists get people away from the constand feeding by main stream. There is so much more, and so much better music and performance out there.
@@CoachCastTVFreddie and John are godfathers to Mack's son John Frederick Mack. Freddie lived in Munich, Germany in the early 80-ies and he spent a lot of time with Mack's family. When Queen recorded in Munich, it was John who often babysat Mack's children 😮 (our dear family man John who has 6 children). Queen recorded a lot of songs with Mack as their sound engineer or producer in Musicland Studios, Munich, Germany. Mack worked with ELO, Extreme and Black Sabbath, but he is mainly known for his work with Queen (a lot of 👑 songs including One Vision). Remember your first Queen song Dragon Attack and lyrics ... "It's gotta be Mack..."? That's Reinhold Mack (the blond guy at the mixing desk "banging" his head at the desk while watching Freddie and Roger jumping around like kids 😅😅) You just got to love them all ... ❤
@@CoachCastTV Dragon Attack is one of my favourite Queen songs too. Penned by Brian, who has "a dragon on (his) my back" - his one of a kind homemade Red Special 🎸 ... and she can spit fire if needed but can also meow like a sweet cat - try to listen and react to DELILAH from Innuendo album I love to watch and listen to your and Mrs. Coach reactions on Queen songs. Greetings from Ljubljana 😮Slovenia Love, Iris. 🥰
I came for Blackpink and here I am for my 6th Queen reaction. One of the things that I find sad about songs with such a wonderful message like this, is that they never seem to reach the folks that really need to hear a message like this. All we can do is spread the positivity as far as we can, and hold onto hope! 👆❤
Hi Coach,, Freddie, John, Roger and Brian are so cute and funny. It's nice to see them - the Queen with Freddie and John. We missed them both. They're like family,, have arguments but at the end of the day they still love each other. They treat each other as brothers. And even Freddie is gone,, they still miss and love him. Thank you for your great reaction. You make me smile Mr & Mrs Coach as always especially when you do Queen reaction. Just love it♥️!! Hope you do Barcelona and How can I go on. Love the opera singing of Freddie♥️♥️
I really love the intro with the violin I think...but in general great song. Really fits the movie well. Back then I thought the Highlander was a great movie. Now I can see it's dated, but still great.
As at least one other person has said there is a "Making of" for One Vision (the longer one please...more short interviews in that one) It's not that long and it shows them working and writing together in the studio. Quite interesting and a lot silly fun....if you don't mind Freddie dropping an F bomb or two it's really a fun watch! As for John singing. In an interview with Brain he said that when it shows John singing either in videos or live his mic is turned way down per his request. Also the song is about MLK and his vision. May I vent a bit? You aren't the only ones who do this but it makes me crazy. We just watched an epic video with Brian being amazing on guitar and Roger being his usual wonderful on drums (OK we didn't see John play a lot) but your commentary was "Freddie, Freddie" Yes the extended was more Brian and Roger playing and playing very well. No hype for them after the video?
A suggestion for you: "Who wants yo live forever", live version at Wembley 86, Friday night... It's overly emotional and Freddie, as always, perfect...
Otherwise know as a tanner in the UK. Which old sixpences are valuable? Valuable coins to look out for. Sixpences minted between 1920 and 1946 were struck in 50% silver. Those struck before 1920 are made of 92.5% silver, so accordingly are worth almost double. Rare coins, such as a 1893 sixpence with the Victoria jubilee head, could be worth thousands of pounds.
Being I’m an old guy that got into Queen during their glam rock days of the ‘70s and one who doesn’t love their ‘poppier’ music of the ‘80s, I must say… I always liked this one😊… fried chicken!
Boys were on their best behaviour (because of the camera filming them) but Freddie just couldn't resist it.... 😂 (poking John and messing with lyrics) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Btw...of course Metallica approved the cover by The Warning$$$$$$$$.....I just love the original...and Metallica covered Stone Cold Crazy....well, I think that Freddie singing it is sensational😂🤩
HI Guys.... THANK YOU for starting my day out right with Freddie! P.S. There's a GREAT mini-documentary on the in-studio making of this song. FYI, tho: There are THREE different versions of the documentary... One is only 10 minutes long (it basically cuts out all the interesting stuff, the interviews/interactions between the guys). You would want to look for the one that's 20 some-odd minutes. Of the 20-minute documentary, there are TWO different versions. The BEST/most interesting one, has been edited by CHIEF MOUSE (so it says Chief Mouse Edit right on the opening screen). It's just a bit more interesting than the original on the official channel, because some add'l interesting interview segments have been edited in. This Chief Mouse Edit of the documentary is posted on: queen danka channel,.and is just over 21 minutes long.
@@CoachCastTV BTW, on my comment above, I edited it to give you some info on the One Vision documentary that folks have mentioned. (Because there are three different versions.)
This is a fun video which is evidently quite popular, is an official Queen video, and none of the other viewers had issue (in fact some have said it was the correct one to do). LOL

Thank you, we appreciate the great comment. 👍
Wow 😅 beautiful sweet Freddie 😍 liked subscribed 🎉 please react to the documentary of the making of this song, it's a wonderful insight to how this talented people made such great music 🎵❤❤❤
Welcome aboard 😀
John, Roger and Brian talking about making One Vision ... and why they put "Fried Chicken" at the end ... Just hilarious 😂
ruclips.net/video/2wmk_C6fzOo/видео.htmlsi=03CaMidfOGv4gjQJ
quite interesting really cause a kind of magic and one vision was 1 song written by roger taylor then mostly freddie helped spilt it into 2 songs for the album, also youll notice john and freddie swap tops many many times during the video and john gets to drum a little too
Thank you reacting to this great reaction as always ❤ you should watch the documentary of them writing the song together the chief mouse version is the best one if you do keep a listen out for Freddie changing the words 😂😂
Very interesting!
Loved this, thank you Mr & Mrs Coach! Pls keep them coming! Wishing you both a very happy Christmas, love from Oz🇦🇺
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you also!
Mongolian Rhapsody...interesting.
@@CoachCastTV there's a video online about the auction which was shown on Sky Arts channel I think last weekend, but I attended the exhibition in London in August and September as some 30,000 items over 1500 lots were sold for charity
You should review the short documentary on the making of this song.
Another great reaction,thank you.
Agreed, we never heard any of this stuff and it's fantastic.
Guys...... you really Got to watch HIGHLANDER. A lot of these songs are on the soundtrack.
The producer, rheinhold Mack named his child after freddie and freddie was the godfather
Very cool.
That's Reinhold Mack (the blond guy at the mixing desk "banging" his head at the desk while watching Freddie and Roger jumping around like kids 😅😅)
You just got to love them all ... ❤
@@iris67si Oh, that's awesome info. Thanks for sharing this. Definitely remember that line from "Dragon Attack". That's still one of our favorites!
@@CoachCastTV Dragon Attack is one of my favourite Queen songs too. Penned by Brian, who has "a dragon on (his) my back" - his one of a kind homemade Red Special 🎸 ... and she can spit fire if needed but can also meow like a sweet cat - try to listen and react to DELILAH from Innuendo album
I love to watch and listen to your and Mrs. Coach reactions on Queen songs. Greetings from Ljubljana 😮Slovenia Love, Iris. 🥰
@@iris67si Many thanks for your kindness. Queen fans have been very good to us.
Please react to Queen - I Want It All (official video)
Give me fried chicken.! Louis Gossett jr. Movie. Iron Eagle.
Putri ariani on hut transmedia cover bohemian rhapsody.2023 she got golden buzzer from simon cowel.
I came for Blackpink and here I am for my 6th Queen reaction.
One of the things that I find sad about songs with such a wonderful message like this, is that they never seem to reach the folks that really need to hear a message like this.
All we can do is spread the positivity as far as we can, and hold onto hope! 👆❤
So true!
We appreciate that. Thank you so much.
Good info! 👍
That's what makes there last video so hard breaking to watch and hear. He could barely move without pain.
Time to check out Band Maid 🎀🎶
Domination-Live 😎
A suggestion for you: "Who wants yo live forever", live version at Wembley 86, Friday night... It's overly emotional and Freddie, as always, perfect...
Thanks!

Merry Christmas Coach & Mrs Coach from across the pond🎼❤️🎼🇬🇧🌲🌲🎉
Same to you! We appreciate you! 🙏
If you download from the official Queen youtube channel, they will not block according to everything I have heard.
That's great to know.
Please watch Queen Now am here live from Wembley 1986. You will not be disappointed.
Fun Queen fact - Brian uses a shaved down sixpence coin as a plectrum and never a standard one
Sou do brasil e adoro ver vcs queen melhor banda do mundo pra mim

Thank you! 😊
Another suggestion: Prince's participation with his guitar in "While My Guitar Gently Weps" at the Rock Hall 2004

Thank you! 😊
John Deacon never sang on recordings, but helped on stage. He wasn't a singer. On the video he is obviously miming for the camera.
Being I’m an old guy that got into Queen during their glam rock days of the ‘70s and one who doesn’t love their ‘poppier’ music of the ‘80s, I must say… I always liked this one😊… fried chicken!
😆 🤣
Comment at the end if the song don't stop queen playing
Wenn sie gesehen haben spielt John Deacon auch Drums,er kann auch viele Instrumente spielen.
One of the best parts of Making One Vision ... 😂😂ruclips.net/video/Ww3kHD0UPjc/видео.htmlsi=v24eBUZhv9u0OWzK
Boys were on their best behaviour (because of the camera filming them) but Freddie just couldn't resist it.... 😂 (poking John and messing with lyrics) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
‘Friedchicken!’
Btw...of course Metallica approved the cover by The Warning$$$$$$$$.....I just love the original...and Metallica covered Stone Cold Crazy....well, I think that Freddie singing it is sensational😂🤩
All great bands you just mentioned!
Ihr solltet euch von Queen: A Kind of Magic, Life anschauen.
Freddie wasn't Queen!!! They were a band!
John doesn't sing on this or any Queen song. The clips of him "singing" are purely for the promo video.

Please guys react to ELO, electric light orchestra, it will be some journey. Evil woman, mr blue sky, Livin thing, brilliant musicians ❤
Loved this- but this is a mash up not the original song but great reaction ❤❤
Thank you!
This Chief Mouse Edit of the documentary is posted on:
queen danka channel,.and is just over 21 minutes long.
We appreciate you watching! 🙏
@@CoachCastTV BTW, on my comment above, I edited it to give you some info on the One Vision documentary that folks have mentioned. (Because there are three different versions.)
@@marciebulsaraorcutt Much appreciated!

The other one vision documentary,is better to see them write the lyrics and put the song together. Don’t pass it up
Omg I thought you was enjoying queen, just enjoy the proper things not this rubbish, just watch them live or proper videos
This is a fun video which is evidently quite popular, is an official Queen video, and none of the other viewers had issue (in fact some have said it was the correct one to do). LOL
Do you like fried chicken?
