Side By Side On Where Eagles Dare

  • Got a call late in the evening about a sxs that was overheating. Instead of going out in the dark we decided to go in in the morning to get it. The people were in a big group so they were able to get a ride out. The trail it was on is called Where Eagles Dare. It's a trail that cuts off of Golden Spike Trail in a few different spots. So we had to run up Poison Spider Trail, across Golden Spike Trail, to get to where it was at. We loaded it up and brought it back out so then they could get it to a shop and get the overheating issue solved. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Monday; is for you what most people call bad ass! 👊 The best builds from around the world go to Moab to break in a few days. You daily drive their best shot at off road design and manly machines back to the parts store. This would be enough but you pass jeeps and you with trailer loaded. Yet with every reason to have catastrophic consequences with every trip the truck is not often benched. It’s as though you’ve solved entropy on slick rock and banned drama. Respect for the legion of driving skills you demonstrate with subtle abilities. Or; happy Monday.

Manual Hubs, you gotta love 'em. You also have to lock 'em. :D I have NEVER been a fan of automatic hubs. My first encounter with them was in 85 with my new Toyota SR5 4X4. I was leery of these 'New Fangled' Automatical locking front hubs where you just stuck it in 4 high and it locked the hubs for you. I was already fearful for the future of our kind because they were advertised as being so 'You don't have to get out and get your shoes dirty' like that was something to be concerned about. THEN, when you are done doing 'Off road stuff', (I guess that translated to leaving the mall), all you had to do was put it in 2 high and back up 10 feet to disengage the hubs. Now THAT did concern me. Like everyone I had a few issues with them disengaging while backing up IN 4WD, (I actually USED my truck off road, for truck stuff) You sometimes couldn't do it if you couldn't keep it under power. The real kick in the tenders came when a friend called me to get his car out of his yard. He had parked in the grass next to his dirt driveway and was stuck. Not badly just his little 13 inch tires spinning, couldn't go, no problem right? I pull in and put the truck in 4 high and drive up to him, hook up the chain, take up the slack, push in the clutch to put it in neutral and check the hookup is good, get in take off, aannnd I'm spinning the back tires only in the wet red clay because the damn auto hubs disengaged in the 3-4 inches it moved backwards when I pushed in the clutch. I'M STUCK ON LEVEL GROUND IN A 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK! I had to get out and unhook the chains and fight the clay mud until I could move enough to get the hubs to re-engage. I installed a set of Mile Marker MANUAL hubs on it shortly after that and when I locked them, they stayed LOCKED until I UNLOCKED them. Never had any more trouble. I can't remember the last time I saw REAL hubs on a 4WD, that hadn't been put on aftermarket I mean. But when's the last time you saw a clutch in a new truck? It's always good to see the Rory and Mike show. You guys stay safe and God bless you all.

🙂😀Great content Rory and the boys!!! Have you ever thought about extending the draw bar off Mater to the trailer to maybe help it turn more with the trucks turning radius... or make it adjustable for certain situations. Got a little 12ft cargo trailer pulled behind an extended cab 02 Dodge, have receiver mount under bumper along with a light weight receiver mount on bumper (only for light weight use lol) which extends way further back. Did a test in dirt to see where it tracks (to see tire footprints) and pretty cool its right inside the tracking of the truck... don't have to compensate for trailer turning tighter.. Know for a fact you're situation is completely different and you know what works for you... Keep up the content
