Doris was NOT a dancer and from sheer will power she became quite decent and could even hold her own with Gene Nelson who worked hard to make her look good. Gene was the best.
He made a number of people look good, including June Haver in Daughter of Rosie O'Grady. He really was the best.

robert szvetics Dean Martin does have the voice for the song but not the dance capability. They needed someone who can do both.
@@Michaelahol Alas, for some reason, Gene Nelson's voice was dubbed here by Hal Derwin. Nelson had a fine singing voice, but he was dubbed here. Gene was a brilliant dancer too. That slow-motion sequence also shows just how graceful he was...I swear that man couldn't make an ungraceful move if he tried.
She was studying to be a dancer but was involved in an accident. Which pretty much killed that dream.
