Many of the fine houses Jennifer passed were covered in soot and grime and some were almost like slum buildings. Many were divided into flats rented by students and the sort of working people who could never dream of living in those houses nowadays.

The uproar during the parade sounds horrible 😢 Things like this happen in Germany too, unfortunately ... And yes, the wildlife in Holland gardens was amazing. Funny enough, Notting Hill used to be a poor area. It was heavily bombed in WW2 during the Blitz and was really run down. It was restored and painted in a colourful way in the 80s. Then the movie Notting Hill came along and made it a tourist destination and the price of those houses skyrocketed. You can pay millions and millions of pounds for them, mansion prices. They barely ever go on the market which also really drives the price up
When you were in the Holland Park area, you should have visited Sambourne House, the 1870s preserved family home of Punch magazine illustrator Linley Sambourne, if you saw Upstairs Downstairs or Duchess of Duke Street on tv in Germany, the Sambourne house interior will remind you of this.

Another lovely London video. I'm so sorry about your cat. Notting Hill can be so beautiful on a sunny day. Very touristy in parts, but lots of secret, quiet places to be discovered. I wanted to say it's worth trying the buses, especially if you need to travel close to the rush hour. Just being above ground is far less claustrophobic when you have health problems, and you get to see London at street level. Google Maps will help you plan your journey and you can just tap in with your phone or card. I also got used to using Uber and Bolt during and after lockdown because of my health problems. Costs a little more, but it's so easy and relaxing to just have someone drive you!

Good to see you walking down the middle of the road, as is your right.
Oh, on that day, everyone was doing it for the road was closed to regular traffic
@@jenniferk6632 it really is your right! Cars are obliged to stop. Testing this with fast cars is not recommended. I know in Germany, you love your rules. So no crossing roads except at correct places... 😁
@andyonions7864 ahh... hehe. Thank you for this information
Oh, wonderful advice, thank you so much ❤️. I will remember it for my next visit in London. I am in Winchester now, travelling to Brighton later in the day... Have a lovely weekend
@@jenniferk6632 Oh exciting. There's a craft chocolate festival in Brighton this weekend that I'm going to tomorrow!
Oh wonderful! A chocolate festival, that would surely be right for me. Unfortunately, tomorrow I have the handover for my new sit with the owners, this will be a busy day and the first day the owners leave, which is sunday, I will have to make sure their dogs cope well... the pets are always no.1 priority during my travels because this is my job... So I probably will not be able to make it to the festival but please, eat one chocolate for me, will you? Hope you will have a wonderful time ❤️
Surprised that so many people can afford to live in such luxury, not just in London, but all over the Country
Indeed... ❤️
Ah oui 😀 Je me souviens. Ravi de vous revoir dans les commentaires. Combien de temps souhaitez-vous rester à Londres ?
@@jenniferk6632 10 jours
@@stepholiver8408 lucky you 😀
The Notting Hill streets are actually reminiscent of Brighton which I believe you will be visiting soon
I am just sitting in the train leading to it... now, I feel even more excited, thank you ❤️
I read your question regarding the keepsakes but strangely cannot answer underneath your question, so I will write it here.
I usually do but not this time for I will have to fly back and am already maxed out with regard to what I am allowed to take... why? What would be your Suggestion? I m interested 😀
@@jenniferk6632 Make sure to visit 'The Lanes'
@annother3350 Thank you, I have already heard about them and will make sure to go 😀
@@jenniferk6632 Oh I wouldn't suggest anything -- thats too personal!
If you had endless room in your luggage what one thing would you take back as a keepsake?
Do you plane to buy any keepsakes from the UK?
Now I can answer here... in case you didn't see my answer under the other thread: no, I will not this time for I have only little luggage options I can take on the plane... what would you suggest though? I am interested
Thank you for another great video Jenny. Sorry about the loss of your cat. I hope this does not sound bad to you but I think it is a part of the cycle of life to death even with humans. Enjoy your day.
No, it doesn't sound Bad, Brian. Thank you so much for consoling me ❤️
LOL you went to the wrong travel book shop. Theres 3 in London. 2 are gift shops. You have to go to 13 Blenheim Crescent in Notting Hill, that is the REAL book shop and the one in the film. MANY MANY MANY tourists make the mistake
Oh dear... 😂 well, thank you for telling me. I am happy to hear that the real bookstore actually exists... I will make sure to go there in the future ❤️ Have a wonderful weekend
Luckily this area wasn't bombed as badly as other parts of London during the blitzkrieg
😢
Wearing a mask is the worst thing for someone with a lung condition
But Covid for me is even more dangerous, this is why I have to do it, sadly... usually I travel in my car so I don't need it. 😀
@@jenniferk6632 Breathing in exhaled carbon dioxide, with a damp bacteria filled face covering will not help, people were deliberately frightened by finger wagging technocrats who were caught out themselves, even more so in your fine country.
I had covid last winter and it nearly killed me and left me with a second lung disease ( as if one wasn't enough), so no, I rather wear a bacteria filled mouth cover then risking getting that virus again
