    Oh yea , turning up the heat on this one and I'm loving it! Also very interesting about the A/B and B/C# slash chords and the different feel it gives in place of the regular major 4 and 5 chords. That said, I'm always learning something new from YGA and this is why I love it! Thanks Dan!

      Yes, slash chords can be great fun seeing how different bass notes can change the feel of your standard chords 🤟

    Great stuff! I like the way you explain where the chords come from and how they are constructed too. Very useful!

    How do you feel about playing the slash chords with the thumb on the bass? Or like a barre chord but with the 3rd finger on the major 2nd instead of the fifth?

    • @yga
      @yga  Год назад

      hi Francisco, great question! You'll see Dan using his thumb in many of the chords across our channel - if it's comfortable for you then go for it! Equally if you prefer the barre chord style (maybe your thumb doesn't quite reach) then that's good too! Just make sure you're not straining to reach anything, and if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch on contact@yourguitaracademy.com

    Hey YGA mates! Do you have any tips on pick positioning in order to avoid losing too much of its grip while hitting the string every 16th note? I guess it would be quite normal to happen at first, but still, i'd like to check it with you

    • @yga
      @yga  2 года назад +1

      Hey, as you've said it's completely natural for this to happen at first as the more you'll do it you'll get the feel for it but some good tips would be to not dig into the strings too hard (You don't really need to make sure you hit all of them!) and take it slow to start off with! Also the lighter you old the pick the less resistance you'll get from the strings!

      @@yga Thanks a lot! I'll keep those in mind while practicing!

      Perhaps this is obvious, but I always use super thin picks for playing funk (in addition to the lighter feel that YGA mentions). The thinner the pick, the more percussive the sound; the thicker the pick the more powerful the notes.

      @@FrMaximilianMaryDean I guess it isn't that obvious! I actually tried with a thinner pick, which was good for the muted feeling in general, but the problem showed up when changing to a lead part; the alternate picking feels scratchy. Actually, my jump of thickness was high cause in Brazil picks are costing a little bit too much to have options to test at home, unfortunately. Appreciate the help mate!

    feel like whenever i try those 16th notes, it sounds cluggy and i cant get that crisp sound

  • @HowlingMad86

    I prefer the Frusciante Funk Style. More minimalistic, more accentuating in percussive sound, melodic brakes and variation.
    Bella from RHCP Return of the Dream Canteen is a perfect example.
