I love this guy. The design, the fact it's a crab, the weapons. However, it's a game where you hunt monsters, and when you have to hunt this monster, it really REALLY doesn't want you to. This is Zenith Akura Vashimu, what happens when the MH Devs decide they want you to sweat and suffer. God, it's brilliant. Enjoy the video! x
If the main MH team makes another scorpion, they'll probably do something original. If they do bring back both Akuras, they'll make it more reasonable, i'm sure.
Nah, keep it convoluted, because after all, you are basically cutting away one third of it's body and it's main source of attacks. Make the mechanic more simple and you end up making the monster into a joke.@@ashra2191
@@ashra2191See. I dont think it should be simplified, for the most part. Removing the color changing blood part would be more than enough. After all, think about it. The Akura's however, you cut off there tail and the lose ALL of tail attacks, the ability to inflict the crystal base blight AND they constantly trip over themselves. Simplifying there tail cut to just...."cut it off" would make them incredibly easy. And while sure Akura's for the most part arent incredibly powerful endgame monsters, more in the mid to high mid tier, but still...removing there unique tail cut or heavily change it is like removing Espina's triple status fireball or his trait of always starting asleep and only waking up after persistent damage. I dont see the problem with this monster being a carapaceon. Some people are like "scorpions are arachnids, not crustaceans". Yeah, but this is not the real world, it's MH, and they decided this guy was a crustacean that evolved to look like what we know as a scorpion, and that's fine. Also, this guy is Skarner

Enjoying every episode as I've been playing through frontier for the first time. Also, appreciate the djent/metalcore rifts in the beginning montage haha
I've been really enjoying these videos because they're effectively a glimpse into what awaits me 200 hours from now when I finally get to them in Frontier. Despite all the warnings signs, I'm even looking forward to trying out Zenith Akura here. Maybe I just don't have the full "appreciation" for its fight because I've never done it, but I like the idea that it has this overwhelming power to kick your ass, and you have to work extra hard to take away that power, but when you do you're rewarded for it with a monster that's had some of its most dangerous abilities nerfed or taken away. It feels like the concept of fighting monsters underwater except cranked up to 11 (as expected of Frontier.)
Oh for sure, I love all the Zenith Monsters dearly, but I couldn't resist a bit of Akura slander. It's just too much fun to talk about how putrid this thing can be sometimes. You definitely feel like a badass once you take it out without a single paralysis (:
I really love your videos, I only just realized after watching every one of your frontier videos i hadn't been subscribed. you've got a watcher as long as you keep putting out this content, its legit great as someone that always wanted to play frontier back in the second and third gen days to see what the game became
One of the things that made the thing so annoying in the original iteration was another step for the tail cut, one that thankfully they got rid of in the Z version: Blood Color. After doing all breaks you had to ground the thing to a certain HP threshold and break the horn to flip it, you miss it or kill it accidentally? Start again.
I actually don't think the tail cut requirements are all that bad, though I think one way it could be made more manageable is to make it like Rakna Kadaki's topple. So any time you break off all the crystals it goes into the on-back stun and afterwards regrows them so you can repeat it.
As a person who had to cut the tail with a rando. No, it is that bad. After the absolute testicular torsion of a status Zenith Paralysis is, you can fuck up the tail cut, we failed multiple times till we decided to just say we only attack during the final flip of the thing. Also that one pin attack where it hits you multiple times, yeah that one’s a killer. If you didn’t have halk potions and got hit with that pin, you will wish you chugged it. Here’s a simulated example of one encounter that happened: I was foghting the thing with the tail intact, it hit me woth the funny laser, I got crystal res so para is my only issue. While I hot paralyzed I got hit with the pin carting me. Second try the same thing happened again. Third time I thought “Fuck it, halk time” and used it. I got hit, chain para’d like in the video and then got hit again with the combo. Did I mention there was one more crystal right when I landed? Yeah that went kaboom and died.

In my server, the OQ to get those advanced hiden items for the Bow and Magnet Spike (my main weapon) unfortunately requires you to hunt a Z4 Vashimu under a very short time limit, and the required subquest is to cut his tail off.
Hey uhm just some tips. You can just use 2 slots on your armor to just add Crystal Negate skill to your set from a deco available early game at HR4-5. Almost all armor at zenith GR200+ already has 15 slots easily. Another thing is you can just use SNS or Lance for both impact and cutting with decent damage for example. There is also Adaptation skills. There is actually a lot of easy counters to his crystal even just wearing a single part of Shagaru Magala gear instantly makes you crystal immune. Hope this helps people
Cool tips, thanks! Just as a caution, I mention in the video that the hitzone requirement is only for the BASE species, slashing damage can be used all the way with Zenith Akura without needing adaptation, SnS or Lance, you could do it all with GS if you fancy!
You don't need impact for the tail on Normal HR4-5-G either. You must be referring to Jebia Edit: You actually don't even need impact to break the crystals off either you just need to do enough damage in general. The hitzones on the crystals severely reduce cutting damage so it takes much longer. The same applies to the zenith. So you can as an LS user with not impact cut a Vashimu tail in any rank. Jebia is another story his tail will not flash rainbow until you apply some impact meaning it can be cut @@CeraCymmetry
