His life sentence was for the offence of soliciting murder. As you say, it seems crazy that someone can get a life sentence even without causing harm to anyone while someone else can get a much shorter sentence for actually causing someone harm! The life sentence, though, was a choice for the judge - he didn't have to impose it. Would he have imposed it, as you suggest, if the intended victim had been someone NON-famous (and NON-beautiful...and NON-white)?
His previous convictions would have played a part in the sentencing for this one...
I'm suprised he can find his winky under all that flubber.

Rather than bragging about his plans and targetting Holly Willoughby, if Plumb had kept quiet and attacked a complete random then he might very well have got away with it and been caught after the fact. A very chilling thought.
