And this my friends,is why Ebikes are essential. Being able to live the life you once lived is life changing. And one day you might be in that very spot...To feel alive again.
This is one of the best uses of a sponsor i’ve Ever seen from any cycling channel You guys rock I had to stop watching at the end because someone started chopping onions when he started talking about riding with his son
“Glad to be included.” Best quote. Awesome. As we age it seems we get slowly discounted. As a 56 yro woman this makes me happy to know I can still have an opportunity to ride as I age gracefully.
I'm 60 and my kids (28 and 30) are coming down from Tennessee to Florida for a visit and both are bringing their mountain bikes so we can go ride my home trails. Watching this makes me realize how special this experience can and will be. Thanks for taking the time to show this special time with your Dad. Go Bob!
Probobly one of the best videos you guys have put out!! It really shows the advancement made in cycling 🚴♀️to allow people to get out and simply for the love of getting on a bike and riding. Bonus is showing us how your dad felt included in sharing your passion being able to ride again, and showing everyone that age is simply a number and with e- bike technology you can get out and enjoy a bike ride!!! Great stuff 👍👍👍
Great to see Bob riding. You can tell he rode before by how natural he looked on the bike. My dad got his Turbo Levo e-bike last year and he's 85! He rides 2-3 times a week including dirt singletrack. If you think you're too old...nope. Go get a bike.
man..srs fighting back a tear guys..not kidding..im far from your dads age,but i feel im a shadow of my former self. Well..I am..age,life,and depression can rob you of many things..AND seeing you and your dad out together is slightly emotional as well. I never had a dad. My mom and Gma raised us 5 kids and took care of us and did for us. NONE of us 5 kids experienced the whole "dad" thing. It saddens me at times and just wish he had wanted to be a part of our lives. Sadly I didnt forgive him for never being there for us or our mom until he died in 1997 at 54 years of age. Sorry..had to open up a tad guys..Thanks for another video.
mikieson I was tearful watching this video and wishing I had an ebike twenty years ago when my dad had to give up riding. He is the guy who convinced me to take up cycling as an adult. I miss our rides. I was tearful for you too, as I read your comments to hear what you missed out on. I was really lucky. Your comments helped me to realize that. Since you can’t go back to gain that fatherly experience... and you seem to be a good guy... could you help to provide that for someone else that needs it? A foster kid, maybe. Or BB/BS? Give another kid what you could never have.
Just sent this to my 67 year old dad. Just rented him an Ebike, a guide, and got a nice hotel to stay at in Arkansas. We are having a father son weekend. I’m pretty pumped to watch this.
I was an eBike nay-sayer, then a tolerator, then an interested party, then bought myselft one for my 50th bday, and now I feel guilty I'm not riding my "acoustic" mtbs enough. It's exactly like the freedom you felt when you first started riding. Sure, I'm still capable of struggling up just about any climb - but then I'm wiped after 15 miles. The bottom line is: I can ride more on my eMTB - and I do this for the joy of it. (YT Decoy is my current sled).
A father and son bonding over MTB! Such a special time that words can't describe. That's so Awesome of you Macky, to get out with your dad on the bikes again at his age. He's amazing! Keep it up Bob! 🤙🏼
This is so awesome! He did great 👍 Did he ride in emtb for the most part? That's the mode I put my bike in when I hand it to someone who has never rode one.
Hey you guys, this is great. Go Bob. I am 52 years old and up to a year and half ago, I was riding a singlespeed. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in January of 2019. Riding started to be a real struggle so I switched to a geared bike. I'm working on buying an e-bike so that I can continue to do the sport I love without the stress on my system. My favorite thing to do is ride with my son, daughter and future son-in-law. They are all in their 20's and kicking my but, this will keep me riding with them for a long time. I love riding but I don't enjoy suffering anymore :) thanks for sharing the experience!
Pretty dang good for 75. I’m 66...and I know what it’s like (I’m a big dude). I commend you all for including him in your lives. Seniors often seem to be forgotten ... Bought a TREK Powerfly 4. Wish I could have gone full suspension.
Ryttare they are actually really effective for other things. If you train hard a lot, it’s nice to have an ebike for a recovery day, so you can still ride a lot of trails and not suffer as hard up the climbs on your off day
@@Ryttare I disagree, you can put in the same effort on an E-bike, but just cover way more ground and have lots of fun doing it. And yes I do own an E-bike as well as a normal bike, and use them 50/50. The problem I have is the amount of negative comments made about E-bikes, and lots of the people making negative the comments use lifts and shuttles, is that not lazy? and no-one seems to comment about these people. I have been in lift lines and hear people saying how E-bikes are for lazy people.
I am so happy for your dad! Mine is about the same age and is also riding his touring ebike! I have a damaged miniscus and i can only ride my emtb at the moment. Looking forward to your next video. It is good to see your content evolve. I have to say i was a little bored by your videos the last year, but i find myself enjoying them more and more again. Greetings from Switzerland!
WELL DONE guys!!!! I fell in love with mountain biking in the mid 80's (rigid bikes north of 35 lbs and weak cantilever brakes). The day is approaching much sooner than I'm ready for when the natural progression of age and worn out joints will severely limit my ability to ride. My 17 year old goddaughter has JUST discovered her love of mountain biking. I promise THIS godfather will do WHATEVER it takes to keep riding with her so I can gather and store as many of her biking inspired smiles and as much of her laughter as I can, while I can. She reminds her parents and I of the beautiful, unbridled joy we all once had when we mastered clipless pedals, cleaned "that" climb, or gassed that rock garden. If that means an e-bike, SIGN ME UP. Haters be dammed, their day is coming, sooner than they realize. Much like the video of Syd's parents racing in Arkansas, thank you for highlighting the joy of riding off road many of us north of 60 still feel, albeit a bit slower, but still feel!
This video brings joy to my heart. I watch with tears because i would give anything to ride with my Dad. Lost him when i was young. God bless you all. love your content. You guys are awesome
This is an awesome use for an E-bike! It's so cool that you could ride with your Dad and you could both enjoy the ride despite different fitness levels and age. Awesome video as usual!
Syd and Macky, Thank you! Bob, You look like a rock star in your new outfit. At our age if we can’t be fast at least we can still look fast standing still. A quote from MC Hammer, you are “Too Legit to Quit”. ...Hold on a second. I lost my thought. I forgot what I was going to tell you. Oh, yeah... Boy, do I know that feeling. Thanks, Bob.
That's lovely to see... Was out riding with my parents today, but on tarmac and my father cant ride longer so he is riding his electric scooter and my mom on her ebike and myself on my MTB. They are 73 & 70.
Very cool. I hope to still be riding when I’m 60 or 65 let alone 75. That’s awesome. It’s even neater that you can enjoy it together. Hoping my sons continue to ride for years to come.
What a great inspiration...being 52 myself and just getting back into mountain biking it is great to see your dad still going at 75! Keep up the great videos!
This is awesome. Perfect way to get him back on a MTB. I'm doing a ride with an older friend/colleague tomorrow, him on his turbo Levo, me on my regular old sight. I don't think it would have ever happened had he not bought an e-mtb.
You can tell his brain is still firing on all cylinders. Reacting to commands/suggestions and executing them while riding a big heavy bike on loose gravel. My wife and kids don't even have that kind of situational awareness. This guy is a legend.
Great vid, was a bit worried for him at the start as he was a bit quippy in some places but it was great to see him getting a bit of cohesion towards the end and razzing the "Boy" in the process. Very cool from the 66 year old youngster on my Focus Sam ebike happy trails Bob. Regards Chris
I will be 72 years old in August and still mountain bike 3-4 days a week in the New England region of the USA. Two other riders in my regular group are 76 and 77 years old. Riding is a lifestyle not something we took up when we retired. We do not ride as many technical rock/ root trails like we normally did in our younger days but can still ride a clean line through the shorter rock gardens and tech sections. The key is to keep riding so you don’t loose your skill set. If you want to ride into your old age do not stop riding a bike. Just like clearing a technical section momentum is your friend. So awesome!!!
There is always something special about riding with your parents. I love riding with my dad when I get the chance. Great memories.
Wish my dad was alive to be able to share like this with him. :(
Why did I tear up seeing your dad so happy opening his box of goodies, man I miss my dad. Kudos keep him active.

Awesome video, Awesome dad.
That makes me miss my Dad even more than normal 😥 No matter what bike you ride they bring joy to those that ride!
A perfect use for an ebike. Dad was doing awesome and didn’t require all that coaching.
Love it!
This is so awesome! He did great 👍 Did he ride in emtb for the most part? That's the mode I put my bike in when I hand it to someone who has never rode one.

This is why ebikes are great.
Totally agree a lot people hate on them but I think there awesome
This is the ONLY reason ebikes are OK. If you are 70+, then ok, ride an ebike. Otherwise, unlazy yourself.
