Cleare or cloudie sweet as April showring,
Smooth or frowning so is hir face to mee,
Pleasd or smiling like milde May all flowring,
When skies blew silke and medowes carpets bee,
Hir speeches notes of that night bird that singeth,
Who thought all sweet yet jarring notes outringeth.
Hir grace like June, when earth and trees bee trimde,
In best attire of compleat beauties height,
Hir love againe like sommers daies bee dimde,
With little cloudes of doubtfull constant faith,
Hir trust hir doubt, like raine and heat in Skies,
Gently thundring, she lightning to mine eies.
Sweet sommer spring that breatheth life and growing,
In weedes as into herbs and flowers,
And sees of service divers sorts in sowing,
Some haply seeming and some being yours,
Raine on your herbs and flowers that truly serve,
And let your weeds lack dew and duly starve.

That was quite uplifting! You both seem to bring out the best in one another! I never tire of hearing these Renaissance pieces! Please keep them coming!

Our lives are sunny and cloudy, and every day is a matter of course. After it gets cloudy, it clears up. It will rain if it is sunny. Sound that cleanses the soul!

John Dowland is a very neglected Elizabethan composer, so well done to Sting for introducing him to a wider audience.

They are seated in hommage to the first publishing of Dowland's voice works which represented its different parts with different rotations, as the performers were supposed to be seated around a table

@@andrewh273 As if singing is a science. Singing is a form of art, an expression. Everyone "has an idea" in that regard, his very own. You completely missed the point of why people are fascinated by renaissance music. This type of music sounds weird for our today ears, but it is unique and it works for a lot of people. So does the music by the people you mentioned. If art has the function to transport ideas, make people see subjects from a new perspective, then there are basically no boundaries, rules or even skills. Either it works, or it doesn't.
