Lyrics:
There was a time when I imagined us forever
I can’t quite remember how I thought we’d work it out
I guess I would move to California or you to Boston
And I’d learn to like to stay at home
Or you’d learn to like going out
And although the stories that I tell myself about us now
Don’t take me to the grave
I’ll be an old woman with somebody else by my side
But I will always be in love with you in my memories
When we were twenty-five
I always think of you when I drink affogatos
Cause that summer we would have them every afternoon
The hot and cold was such a perfect combination
Melt all together, bitter, sweet and creamy and always gone too soon
But all of the joy we had and love we gave away back then
Well, it never went to waste
Cause I’ll be an old woman with somebody else by my side
But I will always be in love with how you loved me
When we were twenty-five

Thank you Bridget Kearney for such a beautiful, soulful ballad. It's an instant classic.
Absolutely, credit where it is due. Bridget is a fabulous musician and those lyrics strike home hard. That voice though, man oh man
Indeed, this tune is on par with Carole King and Joni Mitchell, it is that emotionally impactful. Classic, indeed.
Bridget: all that, and the bag of chips: she’s an Irish lass!
@@violao206Great song but calm down. Haha😂
Rachel is my absolute favorite vocalist. Thought-provoking, deep, soulful. We are so privileged to have her in our generation ❤
Totally agree.
SAME same. I can't wait to hear them on tour.
Same
I saw them in a small theater in Ann Arbor two years ago. Her voice just FILLS the place!
I spent today listening to some of my favorite female vocalists from at least the 60's forward. I reached LSD late in the day and I think I have to agree. Rachel is amazing.
I'm 76, and I remember that girl at 25 with such love and fondness. We could've made it, but it wasn't meant to be. But I have my memories, and this song digs deep to rekindle them.
That's so lovely.
62 and I'm a bit reflective these days. We can't be here today without everything we had before.
No auto tune, no filter, just pure elegance, soul and beauty in that voice! Rachael Price is the real deal!
Bridget is one of my all time favorite song writers. You have a depth, clarity, richness, and beauty that pervades all of your lyrics. Without Bridget, there is no Lake Street Dive. Each of you has special gifts, and they shine out in this band. But, Bridget, you are my favorite. Peace. Dr. M
Amen
Just perfectly right.
Rachel is an extraordinary singer. But let’s not forget to give praise to the other members of Lake St. Dive. They are GREAT musicians!!!
No matter how often I hear her sing, I continue to be blown away by just how good she is.
Holy smokes. I'm tearing up. Wow. "I'll be an old woman with somebody else by my side, but I'll always be in love with how you loved me when we were 25." Damn . . .
I've been single all my 40 years of life and songs like these pain me so deeply in my heart because I get a glimpse of what I've never had and it just magnifies my longing. What a wonderful song.
With respect to both, Rachel is my Carol King.. Great song LakeStreetDrive
Just saw Beautiful, the Carole King musical, then heard this song and said the same exact thing. Bridget and Rachel are the Carole King duo of our generation ❤️
@@MarnieVanWykomg! Me too! You’ve said it perfectly.
That subtle change "I will always be in love with you in my memories when we were 25" and "I will always be in love with how you loved me when we were 25". Lyrical genius.
I just love her voice. This song is so meaningful for us older people. I think we all remember that young love.
How amazingly beautiful. When we met, I was 23 and she was 26. Though I tend to not be nostalgic or backward looking, how this reminds me! In 3 days we will hit 33 years of marriage. We made those adjustments. How blessed I am that she is going to be an old woman with ME at her side. Rachael, Akie, Bridget, Thank you so much for this!
What a lucky man and what an interesting life it must have been and continues to be.
I love it when Rachel sings slow ballads. When she sings the notes quietly and with feeling, her own and beautiful tones emerge. Moving and enchanting.
Might be heresy but her ability to convey raw emotion with such tenderness reminds me of Karen Carpenter. Both so unshowy but so moving.
in our world of constant overstimulation a simple love song is all it takes to bring us back to the essence of good music!
I'm 68 years old, and I am sobbing, thank you.
A shout-out to Bridget for being an amazing double bassist and electric bassist (the two different skills) and also being a strong songsmith. These kids were trained incredibly well at college, which is demonstrated by the strength of their songbook. Rachael delivers a powerfully emotional performance with this tune as if she wrote it herself. I miss McDuck's unique contributions to their early days, but they are stronger than ever with their new guitarist and pianist/singer. They have tripled their firepower.
I am an old man with someone else beside me. I am crying.
So am i! 😢
Heartbreakingly beautiful song. Means a bit more to me, because my old beau when I turned 25 passed away late last year.
She sings one word and it can bring a tear. She's a treasure. Her voice has healing power.
Thank you, Bridget, for putting the phrases on Rachael's lips, the keys under Akie's fingers, and a sincere and deep tingle into my soul! 👌❤👌
Most of all I hope to grow old enough to watch you all in Lake Street Dive peak and get all the credit you all deserve. (You are bloody good, I just hope to be around when everyone realize that you are just that good and awesome.)
Dont know who i like more.. her or Grace Potter.. Two completely different voices but so strong...
We are taking our daughter to see this amazing band for her first concert on her 12th birthday! She is going to be so excited! We are all fans in our house.
Simple and bittersweet. It takes on more meaning as you get older. ❤
This girl was born to sing. We are so freaking lucky to hear her !!!
I discovered them on the Stephen Colbert show and immediately loved their new 70s inspired nostalgia. This and Set Sails (Prometheus) are great ballads to close the album. Can't get enough listening to them on repeat 😊
Damn, that song is beautiful. No one sings a ballad like Rachael. Absolutely love Lake Street Dive!
I have almost never felt more seen by a song. I was with someone for 6 years in my twenties, and we were deeply incompatible, but the love was so real, innocent, and true. These lyrics speak volumes. Thank you so much LSD for being able to convey what so many people have grappled with alone.
I had to check your name to make sure you weren't the young woman I was in love with. Tis' alas, while your description matches my memories, It is not you.
Life should be like Rachael's voice: beautiful, strong and heartfelt.
Oh my... Akie, Rachael, you have definitely touched my soul with your interpretation of Bridget's words! You have given me a gift that I will forever cherish...closure! I am not gonna expand on it here, but just know that this song is going straight onto my playlist, at the number 1 spot! Absolutely beautiful song! Thank You @LakeStreetDive ! Much Love and Respect to you my human brothers and sisters, form a Fan in Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦⚜️!
This is absolutely gorgeous, the composition, the playing, and the singing. I'm very grateful for all of you.
one of the best female vocalists ever! I have followed them for years and keep them on my playlist. Best of luck and wishes for the newcomer to the family too.
They are my playlist
Such a beautiful woman ,The matured voice of a dedicated to perfection singer. I wait in childlike anticipation for every new song. 2:53
“After 25 years I should be good at something.” You are. It’s this. Love you all!
Exemplary performance. This song evokes the bittersweet, wistful yearning for our lost youth, lost love and lost memories. Thank you.
Rachel's voice has no comparison!! This song/ballad is just beyond amazing.
I have loved LSD for 10 years and counting. This may be my new favorite of theirs.
I recently discovered Lissie and have been going through her videos, being blown away and moved in equal measure. Maybe that's what set me up emotionally for this revelation. As I continued to scroll, other videos were recommended, but for some reason, (do we ever know why?) I clicked on this one instead of scrolling past. My gods, this is gorgeous and powerful and so heartbreakingly tender. I love the song, the voice, the piano player... Two phenomenal music discoveries in one week, I almost can't take it. I will be digging further into this one as well, I need more of this.
One of the best ballads I’ve ever heard.
Beautiful!
Never give up!
I recently reconnected with a woman, from a fling over 40 years ago.
The most genuine love we've ever felt,
so grateful to have,
what feels like,
it was always there.
🙇🏼♂️💘
Goose bumps galore--- just brilliant--- wow!
That is a very pretty song. I'm an old geezer who grew up in the 60s and I came across this band about 10 years ago. I thought they were destined for bigger things. They have done okay but the fact they haven't had the kind of commercial success they should have is an indictment on what passes for the music industry these days and it says a lot about how the kids of this generation have been programmed by those soulless goons.
They should be a much bigger act but I will tip my hat to them, they have kept their integrity and haven't sold-out by recording some pop-tunes that might make em money but could never be mistaken for art. So, here's to ya young folks, a salute from an old club player who likes what you do and admires the way you do it. Maybe I'll catch your show if you make it back down Florida way. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.
Saw them with 10,000 people last night, they are doing ok. GREAT show, anyone would love them. Rachel Price is a generational singer, she will be around for a long time.
@@kalstein6925 Cool. Yes, she has a very lovely voice, great pitch control. I've seen a few videos of her working with other artists. She can sing country and jazz as good as any of em. Very talented young lady.
"You already have brilliant albums, but it looks like this one will be your best. 'Twenty-Five' reminds me of EJ's best ballads. I can’t wait to see you in Berlin. Best regards from Poland."
The pitch, the timbre, the phrasing... the most distinct voice since Amy Winehouse.
Rachel Price is just perfect. Such a nostalgic song by Bridget, and maybe I would have liked another verse with her playing an upper register bass solo to complete the feeling. But so very nicely done in all respects, so who could really have any complaints about this fine song? Not me, and in my memories not the girl I loved when I was 25. I hope she is well and has had a good life.
I just cannot describe how the second verse shot me right in my eyes and my tears start dropping and this music touching me so deeply that I can barely describe how it was. How lucky are we in heaven such beautiful voice just alive in our time?
Thank you for such a beautiful song that pulls at every string of my heart! Beautifully written by Bridget, played by Akie, and Sung by Rachel! Blessings
This is some of the best singing and instrumentals of these days. Keep it going!
What a beautiful song and performance...... remembering a love at 25. Gives that part of life a wonderful perspective.
Such a beautiful song. Only takes a voice and a piano and all places are full of soul and feelings.
Man, I just love her voice. Beautiful song.
Rachel, Akie, I feel it down to my soul❤. See you at the Greek😘😘
Gee Bridget, you knocked me out. Waves, from deep in my memory, are washing over me still. Thank you for creating such a poignant work of art.
Tears! That is a BEAUTIFUL song! Bravo!!
A Goddess speaks, backed by angels. Loves. And thanks for the love. 🫶🙏🏼❤️
There is something so special in listening to a song for the first time that gives you a solid wave of goosebumps from the first note to the last. It very rarely happens to me.
Brings tears and sweet memories. Another gorgeous ballad by the incredible Rachel and Lake Street Dive. I’m so looking forward to seeing you in Oregon this summer.
Chills! So beautiful 🙏🏽
These musicians just impress me so much, and make gorgeous music look so natural!
Truly feels like your voice mirrors your soul. 💙💙💙
One of the most enjoyable musical experience in many years. Thank you for sharing your lovely performance with us.
Thanks for putting those thoughts together in such a meaningful way. ❤ And singing them with such clear emotion. ❤ And making the piano sound so marvelously compassionate. ❤
WOW just WOW!!
Everything about this is beautiful, can’t wait for the album!
It's been a while since the goosebumps covered my arms.❤
A truly beautiful, moving song and as always such a soulful performance from Lake Street Dive. Will miss their concert in Vancouver in August, getting home one day too late. The last two times I saw them they were fantastic.. Such a talented group.
Spectacular
Beautiful Bridget, liquid soft textures in this music.
Thank you.
Lovely indeed, Rachel you are the light of eternal spring !!! kind regards from Barcelona
They don't miss and just keep killing it! ❤
That is an original?! WOW! And an absolutely great interpretation!
I had to Google it and watch a You Tube video, but now I know what affogados are. Thank you Lake Street Dive!
Beautiful Song. Flawlessly performed.
Great performance and Bridget's song is a solid banger.
Simply beautiful. Outstanding
Rachael your voice is perfect
Wow, what a beautiful song and singer, exceptionally well written lyrics
I could listen to this a thousand times and I would get goosebumps as if it were the first time. What a song. What a performance.
I'm weeping. Beautiful, Rachel.
Oh my, Rachael Price! Her voice is PERFECT for lyrics & melody; piano accompaniment beautiful and sweet.
I can’t stop watching this 🥲

Thank you for this magical music. Lake Street Dive has been our favourite for years. As others have said, great performance, composition, and I'll add great recording/mixing/mastering. Cant wait for the album!
Thank you for these paradise moment !
Beautiful, vocals and piano. And these honest songs like this. Reiterate being alone might be ok. Im allowing a lady in my energy and around my family and shes thinking about another. 👍🏿
Lucky enough to have reunited with my 25 after 35 years without contact❤ funny how life works, back then I said she dumped me for a bassist 😂thanks Bridget
Rachel, these scenes in the studio are incredible; at the end, your last sound was heartbreaking. I loved the lyrics and as usual, I loved your voice. Thank you.
you poked my heart...
WOW! What a powerful tune. Incredible lyrics and music to inspire so much emotion. And as always, Rachel is just perfect. Thank you for this gift!
And I thought I was the only person on earth that had that young heartbreak... ;-). Beautiful!
so very beautiful
Goosebumps listening to this.
That's a beautiful song.
Now *that's* a melody for a love song. Beautiful job, Bridget and Rachael.
Bridget's lyrics, Rachel's vocals, they fill my soul and break my heart. How do I long for something I never had?
Rachel, what a voice!
Desde Perú, ustedes son lo mejor que he escuchado en muchísimo tiempo atrás.
Los felicito!!!🎉
Beautiful song. 😁
One of the most wonderful love songs I've ever heard (and I heard a lot).
