Honestly, the movie didn't even need to exist. Kung Fu Panda 3 wrapped up the story quite nicely. Anything after that is just pointless wheel spinning.
They could've just had Tai Lung and Po lose their kung fu at the beginning, then they had to put aside their differences and work together to stop the chameleon. Boom there's your movie.
And then, tai lung gets a second chance to be the dragon warrior eventually,the right way this time. We would get a time skip, tai lung training the furious 5 , shifu retired at this point,po promoting tai lung to dragon warrior and then going to the spirit realm the same oogoway did. Boom, peak movie, 1Million or above easy.
Let's not make Tai Lung the dragon warrior. I wanted a redemption arc for him as much as the next guy, but part of redemption is accepting loss, and the consequences of your actions. Tai Lung wasn't meant to be the Dragon Warrior. That's that. Though he definitely should’ve had a reconciliation with Shifu.

The reason why the message in the first kung fu panda was so good was exactly told in the scroll, tai lung based his value on the title while the tiltle was only the reflection of who the person was. You could tell a really nice story with tai lung starting his journey of redemption directly after kais defeat (his chi was confirmed by the director to have been stolen by kai) and him realising in the spirit realm what his previous path would lead too. Maybe he would over the course of the movie help po and reconcile with shifu by beating chameleon, he wouldn't need to become dragon warrior after that but it could've been possible to lead to it with a better script. People often are driven to insanity by forgetting who they are in a pursuit of a goal that wasn't theirs to begin with, him becoming his own person and stopping what he once was in a 4th installment would both be a extremely good story arc but actual reason to continue the story. Sadly we never got that and I highly doubt we'll have a Snyder cut situation here

It’s probably one of those movies that’s fun to watch but is a horrible sequel that sucks to analyze. Like Transformers Rise of the Beast. I hate it for what it did as a sequel to Bumblebee, but I still like watching it.

my opinion on kung fu panda 4 after watching it: I don't love it but I also don't hate it if anything I just like it

Kfp4 was a great movie. Spunds like yall went in with your expectations of how it should be and got dissappinted when it wasnt exactly how you wanted
