I can't believe I found it again. I've been searching this song the past hour and couldn't fall asleep/stop thinking about it. It resurfaced out of the depths of my brain like a week ago but just this hour or so ago I remembered the artists had a "P" at the start of their name. I googled "papillons", "pompei", "palais", "pipettes" and so on. I remembered the black and white striped shirt and the girl eating the mini-burger with knife and fork. I even searched for "most french music video ever" because somebody commented that back when it first got uploaded. So happy right now that I actually found it.

to me, like most other quality songs about love, it has a few meaning that are supposed to coexist together. one is the innocent, about literal dancing and falling so children can listen to it. and the second and third are what gives two complimentary arguments from his point of view and hers.you can say that he almost fell in love for her but decided to play it safe and let her chase him. but then on the other hand she deals with that pain of being more vulnerable by doing the only thing that makes her feel like less of a victim in life - living the street life. so she took the fall by pursuing him more, as well as “killing her soul”/meta suicide through vulgarizing her sense of love to cope with being in love. this song is so powerful to me cuz it’s something so tragic presented in such an innocent and beautiful way.
