  • In this The Iron Claw video essay and The Iron Claw analysis, I take a deep dive into the new Iron Claw movie, starring Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, and Lily James. Directed by Sean Durkin, the film is a perfect blend of sport, drama, and thriller, exploring themes of fatherhood, masculinity, death, and tragedy. I believe this film is excellent in celebrating and remembering the true story of The Von Erich brothers and The Von Erich family curse through great writing, acting, directing and filmmaking.
Furthermore, in this The Iron Claw spoilers video and Lucas Blue The Iron Claw review, I'll delve into the film's symbolism and hidden meanings, uncovering The Iron Claw easter eggs, examining how it demonstrates the celebration and caution of the Von Erich story.
This The Iron Claw review breaks down why The Iron Claw is perfect, what The Iron Claw means for the future of drama, tragedy, and sports movies, why The Iron Claw works, and what makes The Iron Claw so shocking. This is why I love The Iron Claw. Hope you enjoy!

What I find interesting is that many still see, act in these people lifes, but yet... when they are faced with the reality, they walk away.

The Iron Claw had me sobbing not once not twice but thrice! Everyone gave such a good performance in this but Zac Efron was exceptional and he deserves that Oscar award

This movie helped me further understand my relationship with my dad. I don’t really know how else to put that into words because this movie does it for me. The pressure to not disappoint, trying your best and still not ultimately living up. I actually saw this movie with my dad last Saturday. It’s an awkward but heartbreaking experience when you see a mirror image on the screen.

Made me realize it’s a 10/10 movie. I was kinda mad on Chris being left out but if Kevin was okay and the reason made sense then why is everyone mad tripping? Great review amazing movie

Thank you!! Yeah I guess it’s bittersweet that Chris wasn’t included. From a screenwriting standpoint, I totally get it because it almost would’ve been redundant considering Chris’ death and emotional cause of death is a little similar to Kerry and Mike. But from a reality/respect standpoint, I understand why you wouldn’t want to leave a brother out. But nonetheless, I’m super glad you enjoyed the movie like I did, it’s so well done!

Intergenerational trauma! So well explained! Love the symbolism of the hold of the curse being lifted through showing vulnerabilities and emotions. I am a Baby Boomer and grew up in the era. It hit me hard, to watch this movie, but like many of us, there has been healing. This is such a beautifully done video! Bravo!!👏👏

This flick had me watery-eyed at the end, real talk; Now that's quite the feat to pull off. Feeling all the same emotions again the next day just from viewing this video. I have to herald this one as a masterpiece of American Tragedy, even though it's embarrassing to admit it worked so well on me!

Great video! This was one of my faves of the year. I don't know about you, but I thought 2023 was an awesome year for films. I couldn't even do a top 10, I had to do a top 20. Poor Things gets my top slot. Cheers Lucas!

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the movie. But did this man really love his children or just the fantastical idea of "making" a champion, and the associated pride of finally being "the best"? Either way it's jumping to the top of my to-watch list because this just feels like so many parents I've known :(

Knowing the true story very well i think fritz did love his boys but didn't know how to express it especially after jack Jr died. A lot of those old school wrestling promoters pushed their sons mostly because they could make a top star and not worry about them leaving

In my humble opinion, he did not love his children. They were viewed as objects to him nothing more nothing less.

This story reminds me a lot of Edith Finch. It was never a "curse."

since you mention symbolism...... don't forget the Easter egg where Kerry is shown spinning and throwing the discus. That was the precursor for the Tornado Punch!!!

I think it's really effed up to tell a family story and leave out a member. He's basically been erased to the larger zeitgeist. It's like he doesn't exist.

Stories made palatable for our capacity. Reality is far more devastating and painful than we can really handle... Movies are stories that must make money. Real life is a story for which no one wants to, can, or will pay.
