I'm not sure how this would turn out between an E-Ray and a 992 Turbo S, but I can tell you as the owner of a tuned 997.2 Turbo S; all the HP and Torque are meaningless without traction, regardless of how much power my car produces, all-wheel-drive has always been its advantage and the Achilles' heel of rear wheel drive (mid-engine or not) cars. While it's styling is not for me, the C8 is undeniably a Supercar that GM and the aftermarket segment will improve with each passing year.
Every Vette owner thinks their car is the fastest Vette on the road then they race a real monster like a Turbo S and realize what real car engineering looks like.
It a lot more than just AWD and Turbos. You’ve got AWD, PDK, Rear Engine, Twin Turbos, gobs of TQ down low, insane traction, weight in check, demonic launch control.. they are nearly unbeatable unless you have another car exactly like it since it punches above it’s weight let alone C8. How do I know? I own one 😁. From a dig on non prep surface, it smokes lightweight McLaren having 80-100 + hp. A simple tune nets 100-120+ hp and 100-120+ TQ. That is with no turbos or meth. Stock it can run very low 10s consistently and can dip into high 9s. It’s a very fast beetle 🤨
For "only" having 640 horsepower, the Turbo S is a beast. Very few cars can beat it period, and I'm not aware of any stock cars that can beat it with the same or less horsepower. The C8 does launch very well though, especially the stingray and E-Ray, but until the ZR1, no stock corvette is going to touch the Turbo S.

@@chrisrogers5974nah, a Z07 equipped Z06 is beating a regular GT3 on most tracks. A GT3RS is a way more extreme vehicle and will win on most tracks against a Z07.
You need to unhook the end links of the front sway bar and lower hot rear tire pressure to 24psi. pump the fronts up to 45 PSI. Cool the engine down as best you can between runs. Get the rear tires wet and do your burn out. I did not see much wheel spin on your burn out. See what 20 inch rear wheel will fit on the back and get a real good drag radial. Once you get a good tire in the rear, run 1/8 tank of fuel.

The C8Z would probably get a better time with those suggestions. But even with all that. The 992 Turbo S will still walk away from the Z06 with ease. The stock 992 Turbo S is capable of speeds faster than it got here. The roll race might have been the modded 911 but the stock 992 Turbo S is all that was needed to outrun the Z06. The E-Ray is faster with AWD but only slightly. Like maybe .1 faster 0-60 but the C8Z closes that small gap by the end of the 1320. The 992 Turbo S has got the E-Ray outgunned too. A modded C8 or the new ZR1 is needed to contend with the 992 Turbo S. Any other stock combination of the C8 will lose to a 992 Turbo S. Don’t forget that there is even a faster 992 Turbo S “Lightweight” that has a 0-60 of 2.2 that rivals the Tesla Model S PLAID in 0-60. The lightweight 992 Turbo S has done the 1320 in 9.9 at 137mph as well.
Damn stock turbo S ran 10.6 and I run 10.5 on a tuned hellcat with DRs. I need to get a turbo S! No work done and it's basically at hellcat speed with AWD and more maneuverability

I've listened to your car launch a few times, what settings were you running on the launch/drive mode? (RPM & Slip) Something doesn't sound right when your going from 1-2 and from 2-3. way too much interference from Traction management and stability control maybe?

I think with roll racing you're both supposed to roll up to the line at a predetermined speed (usually 40 mph) and then go.. Looks like the porsche just hammered it whenever he felt like it.
On the roll, the Porsche absolutely prematurely gunned it about 1-2 seconds before you did. Not fair comparison. The Z06 best chance to win is in the roll, given lack of 4 wheel drive.

I just bought a c8 z06. I'm sticking to it cause for the price and the performance it beats the turbo and the s. If it would grip or even get launched correctly. We are comparing AWD to 2WD. If the Z was AWD it would've been a winner every time.
A C8Z with AWD will still catch hell from a 992 Turbo S. The reason. Torque. The Turbo S with its 590 ft lbs of torque and awesome traction will still pull ahead. The C8Z is a great car for all it is. But, it is no match for a 992 Turbo S.

@RWDC8Z what's on the odometer? After 1500 miles the transmission stops limiting power by 20% for the first second of each gear change. It's a separate break in mode like the 500 mile limit on the motor. It's not much of a difference but it does hold 100ms or so off the quarter mile times
The only street legal non drag strip cars I have seen beat a 911 Turbo S in a drag race are all electric vehicles. Haven’t seen a combustion engine vehicle take one yet. I am sure many of you will let me know if I am wrong.

The lower level Porsches (Cayman and GT3’s)will lose to an E-Ray but the Turbo S will still outrun the E-Ray. The ZR1 is coming though. Then things will be different.
Havnt gotten to the 1500 miles for full break in. Wasn’t playing with the launch control. Next time we will fine tune the launch control and have 1500 miles. Hoping for a 10.5!

I had a GT3 991.2. These cars aren’t drag cars. The turbos, the gt cars or the Z06 . They belong on a road track. This is like using a funny car at Laguna Seca

I havnt started playing with the Launch RPM and slip yet, but at the top of first gear and/or second, the rear tires just kept coming loose

The lower level Porsches (Cayman and GT3’s)will lose to an E-Ray but the Turbo S will still outrun the E-Ray. The ZR1 is coming though. Then things will be different.

At this price, the GM is very slow in acceleration especially for a 2023 car! The Turbo S is lighter and AWD, I can't believe that GM made a mid engine at 3700-3800lbs... The Lightweight version of the Turbo S is close to 3550lbs, awd !

I had a GT3 991.2. These cars aren’t drag cars. The turbos, the gt cars or the Z06 . They belong on a road track. This is like using a funny car at Laguna Seca
