My perio wants to use general anesthesia to extract a tooth and do a bone graft, she said because the root is fractured and there's lots of water flushing involved (I guess would cause a feeling of choking). Wouldn't nitrous oxide be enough though? Really want to avoid general anesthesia and its cost.
I’ve recently had wisdom tooth extraction done, the dentist botched it and decided to leave one root. I don’t think he was equipped for it and had the required skills despite him being experienced and being confident. I’m in a lot of pain now, waiting for it to heal for a bit before going to a surgeon to see if he can get the root out. Next time I’ll make sure to only do such complex procedures with a specialist dental maxi surgeon and not a general dental surgeon.
Same! My dentist left a broken root, then he shut down his office a week later! He's MIA now. I had to find a whole other dentist willing to take on my issue Thankfully there's no pain. It did get infected once though but I had antibiotics
I have the same problem with wisdom tooth, dentist screwed it up and left one root behind. He said it’s gonna be ok but I don’t trust him he looked worried. How are you now?
Great video! My dentist left a root tip in and days after the extraction an infection occurred. The socket hole itself is healing fine, it's the roof of mouth (about where tip is) and surrounding gums that are tender. I'm on antibiotics, but will they work if that root tip is left in there? I think my dentist was not equipped to deal with this. I am 2 weeks post extraction and on 5th day of antibiotics and not sure what to do...I need to glue in a partial for work soon....any thoughts? Thanks for this video!
Hi! I know that this is irrelevant to this particular video but I just wanted to ask the questions I had on a new video so you could see them! First I want to thank you for all of your videos. They have been so incredibly helpful!! I wanted to ask what do you thing is the best product or product type for placing a "tooth gem" on someones tooth. I have been scratching my head about different options and wanted to see if you had anything to say about it? I am seeing a lot of practitioners using flowable composite, but could another method be used? do you personally have any products or even brands in mind? Thank you for your time and all these wonderful videos! I love your channel!!! 😘
Why bothering about inventing a better way to stick a gem on a tooth? Flow works fine. But in a pinch one could try superglue. On a microbrush to avoid a mess. And on the topic at hand: these are great videos!
Depends on many things... Is there pathology, what's the anatomy like, is there a benefit to removal Vs leaving it alone. Ideally leaving a root tip should be an exception not a rule. Skill level of the clinician often dictates the course of action. The techniques described here require a fair degree of skill, which not all clinicians have.
Many! There are different books for each topic. Petersons is great. However one book doesnt contain everything. We have to read different ones and create notes so that the notes could help save time. But for one topic, doing all this work is not feasible. That's why TaughtWell does it for you. We follow multiple books and relevant scientific articles and create videos, notes and mcqs. This way you can learn everything quickly and have time to revise also.
Perfect explanation
Thanks a lot
What a great summary of every thing that needs to be known
Great video, very informative! I also really enjoy the way you say "the root tip".
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent. Saludos desde México
Thank you, very nice explanations !
Please i want to ask if the tooth rot off by itself due to decaying n the root is still in the gum what can i do.?
Fish it out with a narrow elevator and grab with fine tip hemostats.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm sorely wishing I would have gone to a specialized surgeon to begin with.

I hope you can update. How did it go? Are you feeling better?
Thanks for your video, I would like to ask a question will a root go out by itself after some time?
Yes
I went to remove my tooth and the tip broke while removing my tooth.
And the doc said its ok to leave it.
I was wondering if its a wise choice
Same thing happened to my mom. The dentist left the root and the root eventually fell out on its own.

Hey, what did u do?😢
How did you go? I’m in a similar situation, my dentists botched my wisdom tooth extraction, he claimed he was very skilled but I think he wasn’t.
Update please
Irrigation with saline or PI?
Saline
Very educational! However, I have one question. Can someone still get braces after surgical extraction where buccal bone is not preserved.
Yes the dentist said they need to remove mine to get them put on
Is it done by ENT or oral surgeon, pls?
I'm very lucky to find your channel ❤❤. Thanks a lot. I wish that you give us some suggested references in each video for further information
Sure thank you for watching and thanks for the suggestion
What’s the difference between root tip and root fragment?
Root tip specifically means the end of the root. Root fragment could be any portion of the root.
This is very painful 💔😢.
I did it 3 days back still there is more pain
Very well explained maam
Thank you 😊

What if the root piece of size around 4 mm has guttapercha, root piece was left inside socket near to sinus floor?

@@co2588 there is no pathology...just concerned with d gp inside the root tip
@@salimmalik1985 Just leave it. But it will be coming out eventually. So warn the patient that it will. But it won't be an extra concern for pathology
