- Today we're checking out one of Sydney's old and forgotten skateparks, Chatswood skatepark
The original park here was designed & built by Sk8scapes and opened back in 2001. BUT back in 2019, this park got a nice little upgrade that was designed by Convic Skateparks

What’s the next forgotten Sydney skatepark you want to see?
Go to cammeray, it's nearby but I haven't been there yet
Dulwich hill skatepark. You never hear about that one!
berowra for sure, that thing is ancient but very skateable, was my local growing up
@@Alfredprowse ah yeah! Skated there when I was a kid, and thought about it for the first time the other day. It's in a bit of a back nook. I remember there being a 70s style snake run, I wonder if it's still there.
Menai
Iconic park in the scooter scene lmao
I noticed that lol
I’d prefer an old forgotten park if it means it’s less crowded
That’s very true!
Same I love the old school parks better just grippy cement quarter pipes may very in steepness or metal ramps all awesome but rarely used or over crowded
Boardslide progression was sick! 👏👏
Thanks dude, hoping to grind it next time!
Wow! That boardslide! Good work man
Thanks dude!
That boardslide at the end was sick, keep it up brother!
Thanks dude, I definitely want to grind it next time!
i once fs 50'd the curved rail many years ago. it's a real chin-scratcher finding out how to lean and stay inside. boardslide is so scary! well done! great review 😊
Thanks dude 🙏🏼
Damn, that's sick! Hopefully I can get a 5050 on it next time I go there 🤞🏽
@LeonPaxton you should (and definitely could) crooks or feeble next time you visit. not for the channel but just for that 'woosh' feeling. 🤌🏾
I hope so! Either way I'll definitely be trying one of them next time I'm there 🤞🏽
my mayn (in Denzel Washington voice)
Great video bro Thank you for giving Sydney’s forgotten skateparks you’re bringing new life to them. If you don’t already have it on your list, if it’s still open, Cherrybrook skatepark is where I learnt to skate some 20 years ago ahah would love to see you skate the old sketchy digs ahaha
Thanks dude! Hell yeah, I used to go there a lot actually so I’ll definitely head back there one day and make a video 👌🏽
Only discovered your channel yesterday. Great content, keep it coming!
Sick, thanks man!
I grew up here, rode past here everyday on the way home from school, but that was a few years before they built this. There was an even earlier design than the previous pictures you have. From the roll in, there was a garden on the left side of the box, no stairs/rails, no box at the deep end of the bowl etc. But it was local, and fun. Hit a lot of good tricks here, left some blood on the park, got a few stitches... Time to take the kids for a run!
Damn I couldn’t even find photos of the park back then!
This new upgrade must look amazing now then lol
@@LeonPaxton pre-camera phone era!
Boardslide on the Handrail was sick
Thanks dude, I really wanted to grind it but board slide just felt more comfortable lol
Come to Keirle Park in Manly. One of Sydney’s oldest parks but still really fun. I’ll come hang out, skate and give you the history!
I actually haven’t heard of that but I’ll have to add it to the list! Thanks man 🙏🏽
Had many a late night session there growing up, when the ramp was still vert. The though of riding a vert ramp in the dark just sounds incredible stupid and scary now! Is the ramp still there?
@@LeonPaxton I think Manly and the original Five Dock were the only skateparks I knew of in Sydney in the late 80s/early 90s. Not much choice then!
@@smorllz8605 The ramp was cut down a while back from the 10 or 12ft it was to a really nice skate-lite topped 6ft mini. The little mini that was behind the vert ramp is gone. The park was built in two stages but hasn't changed for a good long time now. It's funny you say that, the first time I dropped in on a proper vert ramp was at Keirle at night in the dark. So dumb.
@@flunkedouttanasa9450 It always felt a bit tight as a vert ramp (on BMX anyway). Think it works much better as a mini.
Fun vid! Thanks for the effort
Thanks dude!
The long curved down rails are so sick ! I used to love 5050’s and feebles down them
Yeah they’re pretty sick!
I want to do more tricks on them next time for sure 🤞🏽
So sick on the curved rail make! I think that’s the first time I’ve actually seen you properly slam too!
Haha thanks man! Yeah that sucked lol
@@LeonPaxtoncome skate with me some time. Basically every slam I do - which is constantly - is like that 😂
I can't believe you guys made the trek to skate at Chatswood. Not even us locals skate there lol
Hahaha this is the day we hit Lane Cove so we didn’t go too far out of our way to skate it lol
You got a back 5050 or a feeble on that rail for sure, man. Sick Boardslide though, is the other side padded material?
Yeah dude, definitely going to grind that rail next time I’m there for sure!
It’s that soft rubber material they use at play grounds so it’s kind of safe to bail on but still scary because the til is so long lol
I used to have to travel an hour for manly skatepark as a kid, now they are everywhere
Nice!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I remember hitting chatty in 2001/2 and trying to gap the flat on the A-frame, seeing the start of the vid here made me question why it was so hard. Then you show us the old photos... far out i had more guts as a ween than i do now.
Hahaha yeah dude, that old version would have been a lot harder to skate for sure!
I skated Chatswood park in the day, I'm wondering if you have checked out Summer Hill park near the station. I remember it was small
I have been there before and it’s so random some of the obstacles there lol
Definitely worth making a video at!
Love the content, should hit up Berowra skatepark
Thanks man! Yeah that park is sick, I’ve been there before so I’d be keen to get back out there 🙌🏻
Impressive skill mate, feeble on a curve rail please next 🙏
Hell yeah, I definitely want to try that or crook next time I’m there!
Took me ages years back on the OG park to boardslide that rail. Got it after about 15 shots at it
Sick! Its pretty scary lol
I literally was there on Wednesday. I tried exactly that board slide on the rail but couldn't even get past the rail. Happy to see someone landed it. 🔥🔥
Oh sick! Yeah it’s so damn long lol
@@LeonPaxton u should come to merimbula skatepark. Definitely forgotten.
Stallion alert! That handrail is low key deadly mate.
Haha thanks man!
I know I’ve mentioned it before, though Cammeray skate plaza is definitely one for this series.
Yeah Cammeray is sick, that one is definitely on my list 👌🏽
Galston Up next you’d have a great time there!
Yeah that park is actually super fun!
Unfortunately it's probably impossible to find a pic of the first iteration of chatty, but you can kind of see the layout from the old concrete next to the fun box. There used to be a huge "garden" there with nothing but a dying bush, mulch, beer bottles, ciggy butts and a metric tonne of piss lmao.
There are plenty of videos of the old Chatswood skatepark on Suandezy and Jack Duaths youtube channel
Theres like 3 pictures of it online if you do some digging
@@MonkGames666 Na it's been changed twice. Three iterations in total. I don't think these kids would have even been alive for the first one lol
Manly is long overdue an extention/upgrade
I think I’ve only skated Mona Vale out that way 🤔
A family sitting on a skatepark ledge like that is crazy.
Haha yeah they probably aren’t used to skaters actually being there lol
If you plan on going to SA I know a few old school parks that hardly get used yet still skate able
Maybe Miller's skate park in Manly Vale counts as 'forgotten' since skaters are adding DiY stuff there to make it more interesting?
Sick, I’ll add that one to the list 👌🏽
Did you ever do Glenbrook skatepark? (Not the diy one)
Also, you should do Bathurst, Mudgee, Dubbo.
No I didn’t actually lol
I’ll have to hit that one next time up up that way!
That Bathurst one looks pretty sick too actually
Sick shirt bro
Some mad tricks to 👌
Thanks dude!
Leumeah skatepark next pls and lemme know when you go 😂😂
I don’t want to go back there 😂
You don’t even have OG photos of this skate park. The original design had a planter box and garden attached to the side of the big fun box, there was no bank. Also there was no rail or box on the flat ground area.
Nah I couldn’t find anything older than the pics I used lol
Damn, this place really had come a long way then!
@ yeh it was unskateable when it first opened. Barely anyone used it. Everything over sized and didn’t flow. A few rollerbladers and bmx. You have to know, when I say kids don’t understand how good they have it these days. I REALLY mean it. There just wasn’t anything available through the 80s, 90s and mid ‘00s. Skating just hadn’t developed fully as a sport yet. We always lagged behind the US about 10-20 years.
Roughest park Leumeah Skate Park
Haha yeah the old stomping ground for me

Rip gyosa. Local graffiti writer
The update completely ruined it, used to be a fun park
summah hilll
That park is definitely an interesting one lol
I bet you could feeble it
I think I’ll definitely try that or crooked grind next time I go there 🤔
