Glad to see you back at it! After seeing this episode early in my life I learned that when transporting venomous snakes always drive as fast as possible! I always thought the rollover scene was filmed at the landfill because in the one clip it looks like trash up on the one hill behind the van and those hillsides look excavated and not natural.
The driving range at the golf course was the site of a WW2 detention camp. Japanese, Italian, and German immigrants were temporarily held there until they could be sent to a permanent camp. Now it's been sold to developers that are trying to build a gated community on the site. If you save your pennies you can probably buy one of the homes for a couple million dollars.
The area where the van flipped looks like it was on a part of the freeway being leveled/carved out north of La Tuna canyon rd. The 210 had a short stub from the 2 interchange, where a lot of season one freeway scenes where filmed, ending at Lowell.
I'm familiar with most of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, but some of these CHiPs locations, I would look at street signs or even partial address numbers were good enough hints, for me to start searching!
This whole area is much nicer than it was in the late 1970s. Less crime and more affluent. That golf course wasn't abandoned. It was sold to developers. The site will one day be a gated community with multimillion dollar homes.

Kinda sad how TIME changes things. But that's LIFE!!!!!!
Rattlesnakes don't chase or stalk people, but I don't know about cobras. All snakes will bite people if they feel threatened in any way.
Snakes!? Why did it have to be...snakes!?

In forty years everything has gotten worse (all Chips locations): abandoned place, dry grass, bushes, fences similar to prison in the city.
