I wouldn't call it a shameless copy (because the plagiarism was in plain sight) nor say it has a dirty secret, for the same reason.
The CBX was clearly the most desirable bike among the 3 featured here IMHO.
However, you have to give it to Benelli for releasing the first in-line 6 to the public, and the sound that comes with it.

Actually I used to own one, and besides the Single Overhead Cam engine configuration, most of the parts, like carbs, wheels, brakes, sprockets, turn signals and instruments were Moto Guzzi.

The Benelli Quattro has the Honda cb750 under block and has unique cylinders and heads it has a wet sump instead of the cb750 wet sump as was common in other European brands apart from the English which offert the dry sumps as standard on almost all bikes the benelli Quattro made 55bhp while the cb500f only made 50bhp.

The Benelli 500 Quattro was based on the Honda CB500, not the CB750, the early CB750 models had a dry sump like many British motorcycles of the late 1960's, the wet sump Honda's came about in 1978. The Benelli 750 Sei produced 70bhp, due to it's bored and stroked motor, the 900 Sei produced 80bhp. The CB750 only produced 67bhp.

@@davidmacgregor5193 notice how the cilinders are banked forward that’s exactly like the cb750 they just converted it to a wet sump, the Quattro had 5 BHP on the cb500.
Which had the cilinders straight up.

The Benellis were not "counterfeit" Hondas, they were licensed by Honda.

That's true, I had a 77 Benelli Sei 750, should have kept it.

La Benelli non ha copiato proprio niente!!! La Honda fece il suo 6 cilindri nel 1979!!

OK so it's a Honda 500 with two extra cylinders.
So where did the Honda 500 get its inspiration from?
Perhaps the 500/4 Benelli GP bike.
So where did Benelli get its inspiration for the 500/4 GP bike?

You can say that about the 400 gts (moto guzzi) or the 500 quattro (benelli) but not about the 750 sei or the 900 sei

Backwards! Honda copied the Benelli when they made their 350 four-cylinder engine then the the 550 and up
