So many fakes out there (thanks China), I have only been buying sovereign mint coins from reputable dealers. That couple extra dollars premium is worth it to make sure you’re getting what you’re paying for. Glad you got your money back.
Just bought 2 of these from eBay, damn - I'll be demanding a refund asap from the dodgy seller. There would be heaps of people getting scammed hey - Thanks alot for sharing!
Wow, some of the stackers out there including me used to say and believe that Counterfeiters won´t spend their time in faking such fractional gold bars due to its complexity and for the high cost of making em, Based on what i saw i reckon they were all wrong to be believing in that, Thanks for your video Respect+!
I'm glad I came across this video because I do see them on ebay and was debating weather or not to just pay the premium through apmex instead of cutting corners with eBay sometimes its hard to tell i think its just better to go through the authorized dealer even though there's a cost that comes along
Ebay is a place to buy things when you know what you are doing. If I were buying and selling gold all the time then I would invest in the time and equipment and probably buy where I could get a good price. However for the average person, me included, its worth it to buy from people who know what they are doing and have a reputation to protect.
The only issue is if you want a more collectors PM item. A lot of them are either not listed. Or out of stock almost always on the official dealers websites. IF you insist on buying elsewhere get a Sigma metal tester. Test before you buy if possible, and buy only from ones online where refunds possible. That way if issues arise you can refund it, or simply avoid it all together. It pays for itself if you consider the price of 1 oz of gold.
@@silverwiskers7371 It will still work, the plating is usually very thin and it rubs off very easily on the testing stone. Lot of these fakes don’t even bother with plating anyway.
Glad you got your money back bro I’ve been planning on buying a gold bar this size but I’ll go to a dealer hate scammers we just want a beautiful piece these people are scumbags hope you get a real one soon💯
I got one that i scanned using the app the bar passed the QR code as valid but when i tried to scan the bar it failed the test. the seller is a long time seller since 2002 and has good ratings . I have bought larger bars that passed and i was wondering if its just because its smaller or the packaging is scratched
This guy put me to shame, I had fake silver bullion Maples, told the seller so, also ebay would take a dim view, gave me instant refund, happy to return them even at my own expense as I felt it was worth paying for the education. Never considered someone else might become a victim. Since then I only deal with reputable companies. Great video BTW.
Good video. I look at the gold bars on ebay and feel tempted but know better. Pamp is the most sought-after. I must admit i just bought a 1oz silver pamp 😮 on ebay waiting to receive it.
If a seller has 100 percent feedback and they been selling for years it usually a scam. I don't know why ebay allows it but they have fake profiles leaving feedback on their own account.
It was 90% copper so its size must be larger to get it to weigh like gold. Copper is much lighter than gold, 8.92 grams/cc compared to gold 19.3 grams/cc, so weight/volume is a true measure. There is a RUclips video showing how to measure its density using a pocket scale. All the people that bought those fakes will one day be shocked with disappointment. I hope they do not sell to someone else.

@UCEOheXaKw301Ag660zdJ2Ew perhaps eBay blocked it or removed the account🤷♂️ I can still see the account on my end because of the previous transaction and communications I had with the person.
Same thing happened to me but on Etsy. They refunded quick because they don't want to lose their 5 star rating or be exposed. They hope you won't say anything.
Let me ask you why the numbers on my pamp bars veriscan not matching the number on the website it's an authentic bar the website is giving me a different number
My bars that I've had tested are real but on the pamp website when I flip the bar they have on the screen it's a different number its really confusing it made me not buy the bar because of too many fakes
That is really confusing...if you tested y I ur gold and its real thats great... maybe just dismiss the bar codes and cases as it means nothing...if your bars are legit than thats all it matters... what seller did you buy it from???
I didn't buy the bar that I was trying to from a private seller on fb because it was showing different numbers but when I got home and scanned my bars again they did the same thing it is discouraging to me that pamp would not have the exact picture of the bar you're buying on their website its very confusing I'm almost ready to give up on pamp
This is the first i have seen about this and its pretty scary. Pretty sure you go to Federal prison for counter fitting. Did the Veriscan app say it was real?
@@pumpitdumpit Dude, I know your video is about a year old but this in misinformation. The Veriscan app (which only works on iphone) scans the bar itself to tell if its real. For example, I have a 100% legit pamp bar but its not veriscan (its an older bar) and with the Veriscan app it fails the test even though its real. This is what I expected to happen because only Veriscan bars can be authenticated with the Veriscan app. So there is no way this fake bar passed.
The serial numbers were tempered on the Fake Bar to match the exact numbers on the veriscan... so if you use the bar code on the veriscan it will tell you the serial numbers match the bar.... in my situation it was a fake bar with the correct numbers...
It's also way to big for 2. 5 grams the real size of a real one from that weight is half the size smaller like a small micro chip for your cellphone that size.
Dear friend you talked for whole 8 minutes without proving anything, I would expect you to do a little more. 1. Check with acid 2. X-ray examination to prove the amount of gold 3.Cut the ingot and show us what it looks like from the inside or at least sand a little on the top layer that the base metal will reveal 4. Melt the ingot In fact other than talking and not proving anything you did nothing. By the way you could calculate the dimensions of the ingot and see if the volume matches the weight in gold. The specific gravity of gold is 19.32 and of copper 8.92 a huge difference. When it comes to a ingot of pure gold the simplest test to do is specific gravity. All you need is a good scale and a small vessel with water. when checking jewelry that is inaccurate

If you’re buying this stuff on eBay, you better be doing acid tests. These sellers are making an absolute killing selling these fakes.

The pamp website example bar photos has the serial at the bottom of the bar too, not above their logo btw - Cheers
The dimensions are too large on this bar, just from a quick glance. Remember that 2.5g is only about 1/12 ounce of gold.

As soon as I posted a negative feedback more followed... account was closed within few weeks and deleted
the only sure way is the acid test even some electronic testers can give a false reading if heavy plated
