    Glad to see here everyone here appreciates how talented Anna actually was. The non tennis public see her as a joke/someone who used tennis to build a modelling career. She was a genuine talent, just had a rough era.

      @@Dan-vo7vc She won 0 tournaments in singles. Not just slams which is one thing, but zero tournaments. Of course she isn't going to be given much credit for her tennis, when you can't even win a tournament when somone like Anke Huber even has 12 and heck Anna Shashanova has 12 (beating Kournikova in the finals to win one of them) how much credit do you think you will get.

      @@Dan-vo7vc Hingis has had about 100 different partners. Just saying. And she won with basically all of them at some point. Yeah I would agree she is reasonable quality doubles player, but rightly or wrongly doubles does not get a lot of recognition. Even the Bryan Brothers get barely any recognition, and Anna is no way a doubles legend like the Bryan brothers. Or Gigi Fernandez and Natalia Zvereva for another example, and even they barely get any recognition. Safe to say the huge amount of attention Anna gets is not for her doubles career, LOL!

    Demonstrates how much tennis talent Kournikova had. Her main weapon was her hands and natural feel which you can't really teach. If she had concentrated more on her tennis I think she would have won some tournaments... perhaps even got to some more slam semis and finals and maybe even won a slam in a weaker draw. Problem was she emerged at a time when tennis competition was at all time high with the likes of Hingis, William sisters, Davenport, Capriati, Pierce, Clijsters and Henin all hitting their peaks, Seles still a force to be reckoned with and Sharapova, Dementieva, Azarenka and Ivanovic emerging. It was always going to be so difficult for her to be a world-beater unless she committed 110 per cent and put all the extra work in..in gym, on court and mentally. Still a wonderful player to watch with some lovely variety 🙂

      @@HA-vv3lw Serena as GOAT is insane? Really? That's an absolutely ridiculous comment. Serena with twenty-three (23) grand slam singles wins, and an almost 20 year dominance in woman's tennis does not warrant as the greatest woman's player? She was greater for a longer period of time. Who was Serena's equal during her great prime years? Answer: No one.
      Steffi Graf was a great player with twenty-two (22) grand slam singles wins, eleven (11) of which came after the stabbing of Monica Seles. Seles was her equal, if not arguably better (before the injury), with eight (8) grand slam titles by the time she was 19. That's impressive. It is MORE THAN FAIR TO SAY that had Monica Seles not suffered her attack, she would have taken at least 5, 6 grand slam titles from Graf. No question.

      Just like in Nadal, Novak: they are both great and I’m a Roger fan and I believe they are gonna surpass him in Grand Slam numbers, but that never guarantee them GOAT Status that Federer possess. It is talent that matters the most.

      @jamesanthony5681 5 лет назад +1

      @@HA-vv3lw When someone is the GOAT, that person is the greatest player of all time, regardless of their individual skill or talent. In any sport talent is just one factor of a person's game that makes them a good or great player or the GOAT. Becoming the GOAT is about how you played, who you beat, how many titles you won, how consistent you played and for how long, and how dominant you were against the competition in the era that you played. Desire, drive, determination, mental toughness, ability to work hard, smarts are other factors that go into being a great player.
